The location of the hotel is good for travellers who arrive by car/bus.Altough Zsambek has nice parts this building is in an industrial area. The building itself is quite basic, the rooms in the 2nd floor have really low headroom. I was wondering why they call the hotel wellness and bio as I could not recognize any real service connected to these two definitions. The other travellers have said the cuisine is excellent I would define it as average. The only things that can be possitively brought up here are the squash and bowling facilities.

I fully agree with the previous review, this hotel is good, but not the romantic wellness-type hotel.

The standard ROOMS are quite basic, 2 single beds pulled together, little bathroom, 2 dormel-windows.

The WELLNESS is quite small: one jazucci for 4 people, and a small pool for maximum 12-15 people. A great plus is the outdoor swimming pool, we enjoyed it very much, since it was 30 degrees and sunshine. There are also sauna, infrasauna and steam cabin.

RESTAURANT is nice, you can also sit outside if the weather is good enough. The breakfast was great: sausages, omlette, french toast, fried eggs, different kind of hams, cheeses, breads; plus the usual muesli, jam, joghurt, milk. It lasts till 10.30, and when we left at that time, every type of meal can still be found. The DINNER was ok, but with little choice: 3 type of main courses. On Saturdays, there is grill dinner, with wider choice and it was really tasty.
There are also tennis courts, bowling, gym and squash at the hotel.

To summarize, I would say, this hotel is rather ideal for 2-3 days long business offsite meetings, or weddings can be held here.

Room Tip: If you would like a room with balcony, ask for superior room. The satandard rooms are located on the 2nd floor, without balcony, and they are mansard rooms.

We spent 3 days in Espa Hotel, and even if it was a lovely, little hotel near Budapest (30 min. drive only), we would not return if next time we seek a good wellnes hotel. The staff is absolutely kind and do everything for you, nevertheless the hotel has a bit a kinda feeling of "benevolent but amateur".

The rooms are nicely designed, the standard rooms are all mansard rooms, a bit small but enough for 2, the closet has enough space for the cloths. The twin beds are very narrow (80 cms), but the mattress is good. The bathroom is nice. Cleanliness in the rooms is perfect (except the strangely spotty bed cover).

We were on halfboard basis. The restaurant offers a breakfast with hot and cold food (not an exceptional variety but not bad at all, fresh fruits and fresh bread alwasy available), the coffee is awful but the espresso (for extra payment) is good. When the number of guest is over 20, the dinner is buffet style, otherwise there is a choice of two different set menus. Everything was very tasty, plus there is an abudant salad buffet (included in the price) which is necessary as the food is Hungarian style, therefore a bit heavy.

Th spa includes a very small jacuzzi (35 degrees C), a really small swimming pool which is full if 2 people wanna swim at the same time (27 degrees - a bit colder than expected, other wellness hotels offer a 30 to 32-degree water) and a big open air swimming pool whose temperature depends on the sunshine. The external sunbeds are the simplest plastic ones, no mattress on them, not too comfy. Th umbrellas should be set by yourself. There is a Finnish sauna, a steam cabin and for extra payment an infra sauna cabin for 2. The gym has a basic equipment (TechnoGym, good quality) for a daily training, but the air-con is turned on upon request only, therefore you should wait until it cools down till an acceptable temperature (at least in summer days), so take your time. Certain days the hotel guest cannot use the pool between 10-12 a.m., as it is rented for baby-swimming groups or similar events.

There are bowling and tennis pools. The garden is nicely spacious, but the quality of grass is rather poor, despite of trying to keep it green. The garden includes an exhibition of wooden garden accessories (wooden houses, tropical wood pavement and fence, etc.) which gives the sensation of walking in an expo, we would've appreciated a more professional garden look.

All in all the hotel and restaurant is nice but it lacks the services and measures of a real spa or wellness hotel. It is perfect for family events or conferences (it has a conf. room), but I do not recommend it as a "let's spend some days in a relaxing hotel" for couples or families. There are much better wellness hotels in Hungary for that. Espa hotel satisfies not-so-high wellness/spa expectations, but seems to be a bit overpriced for that. (We were lucky to obtain a special discount, so at the end we got an acceptable value for money.)
