The best place to visit in July all around Stockholm! My family and I go every year we always leave with a smile! A must if you are in the area. You are greeted by a surprising amount of Vikings that will show you more than just the typical fighting Viking.

If you happen to travel through Norrtälje in the month of July and have the slightest interest in the Vikings and their time period, paying a visit to Storholmen is well worth both the entrance fee and the time. Especially if you have kids in the age of say 4 to 10. Having passed by Norrtälje during more than 15 years during the summer, the family finally decided, to stop here for a couple of hours. The hours turned into the full day, given that there were so many activities: plays, stories from ancient Viking tales, writing with the old Viking alphabet, baking, making of glass pearls, music, etc, etc.
Storholmen is not run by the community or a museum, but from idealists who enjoy part of their vacation living and eating as Vikings during the summer. Essentially it is a large summer camp, allowing visitors for 6 hours a day.
Entrance fee may seem steep, but for sure worth it and for a good cause.
