“'peace and quiet'”

Our family have been to Abandze four times in 2013. Our first visit was such a peaceful time:swimming, walking and relaxing. It is the perfect place to get away from the "busy"ness of Accra.
The beach is on your doorstep, the rooms have AC, fridge, double or twin beds, ensuite shower and toilet.
One of the best things about Abandze is the welcome you receive from Susan and her team, nothing is too much for them.
The food is good, not too many Ghanaian dishes on the menu, (which was a bit of a disappointment for my Ghanaian husband) also, book your evening meal around 4p.m. if you want to eat early.
We will definitely be returning in 2014.

I ended up here by complete mistake (an overbooking at another nameless hotel nearby) and it was the best mistake that could have happened. Location is perfect, an untouched beach inches from your door and sleeping to the sound of the Atlantic surf is amazing. I was travelling alone and was made so welcome by Susan and her team and the whole place has a very gentle friendly feel to it. I don't know where to start with the food - freshly caught lobster on the beach with a beer, salad and chips for $10 - what more can you ask for. A fabulous spot and next time I'll be booking my stay here direct!

We booked into this resort without knowing much of it but Susan the owner made us very welcome and ensured that we had a very relaxing end to a hectic journey to Ghana. The rooms were really well priced and more than adequate with air-con & TV (not used) and hot water to shower in. Food was great and catered for all of our tastes, fish was exceptional - best squid I have had for a long time! We did discover that you need to order dinner mid afternoon though. All the staff were welcoming and helpful and Susan deserves to have as many European guests as possible.
Some of our party visited Fort Amsterdam and were given a really interesting insight into the history of it. The beach was clean but you cannot swim in the sea and you were rarely bothered by any beach vendors.
All in all, a brilliant well priced place to stay!

Abandze Beach Resort is a wonderful place to relax and see coastal Ghana at its best; of our dozen holidays or so as a family, this rates among the top three especially when it comes to value for money and the resort could not get any closer to the sea front; Susan (the host) has such a brilliant homely hospitality and even organised a welcome bon-fire for the kids; Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask to see alternative available room as you may get an even nicer one

Abandze is a great little find. It's a step or two above a back-packer level, well priced with surprisingly outstanding food. I'd start by saying you need to temper your expectations. Like so many places on road towards Cape Coast nothing happens in a hurry. Dinner on the first night took nearly 3 and half hours (this was after waiting 2 hours for lunch). We ordered around 6pm and ate sometime around 9:30 or so. That said, the food was spectacular. The lesson learned is to order lunch around 10am, dinner around 3pm and be prepared to take your time and relax. No matter how simple the order is (just a plate of fries) it's going to take a loooooong time. A very long time.

The actual resort is quaint. There is nothing fancy here, but the staff are friendly, the beach is beautiful, and the nearby fort (Fort Amsterdam) is just a few minutes away. The accomodations are spacious and clean - although the mattresses aren't great. I've had better nights.

Despite the long, nearly ridiculous wait for food I still gave the place four stars. It's great value for money and one of the off-the-beaten path kind of places in a beautiful setting. I loved the beach, the chance to explore the nearby fishing village, see the fort - even get drafted into pulling a boat from the water alonside a group of fishermen coming in one night. Abandze is a grood experience. I'll be back.

I was delighted to find this little nice resort on my motorbike-tour through west-Africa. a fantastic quieted place close to the beach. from every little hut/chalet (with aircondition and tv) you have the great view through palms to the sea. In the restaurant you get good fish from fishing village hundred meters ago.

We were delighted by the beautiful setting, unseen when we arrived late the night before. The food was inexpensive and delicious, especially the fish which arrives daily from the nearby fishing village. The accommodation is a bit run down but did not bother us as it was clean. Each hut has airconditioning and a tv, though we didn't bother with the tv. To relax under the coconut palms, with an occasional dip in the sea was sublime. It probably isn't a place for children as there is little there for them and if small I would worry about them tripping over the somewhat shaky boardwalks. But as we wanted to relax and are well past the days of caring for youngsters, it made the experience even more pleasurable that children seemed absent. Susan, the owner, made us very welcome and we found the staff delightful. Would I go back ? Most certainly!

Room Tip: You could well miss the turn off the road if you travel by night. Be sure you have a very good map a...
