“Good departure point for Quilotoa loop”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

There's not a lot of options in Latacunga, but this place was ok for us en route for Quilotoa loop. I think it's an ok place to stay for one night. Make sure they received your reservation, cause they "lost" our. Our room was clean, althought matress and pilow were a bit unconfortable.
Form there, you can easily walk to the bus station to catch an early bus for Saquisili, Banos or Quilotoa.

Initially we were shown a huge, cold room that was right over a barbeque pit in the kitchen. After checking several rooms we opted to stay at Hotell Rodelu next door (same owners). They were gracious about the change. Room was OK but a bit cold and noisy. Latacunga probably isn't the best place to say ..keep moving if you can.

We chose an internal room so it would be quieter, however room 3 is right next to the dumb waiter elevator, which starts going at 6am. So that was a painful awakening every morning. The wifi rarely worked. We had to ask them to reset it everyday. Eventually we just used the connecting Hotel Rodelu in the joining lounge area or Rodelu Resturant. We only got a hot shower on the first afternoon of three days. So that was disappointing. But it was $28 for a private room and bathroom in a secure and safe building near the main festivities of the Mama Negra festival. So for us safety and location was worth $28/night.

We were very disappointed about Hotel Rosim. For 28$ a night, we had a little, dark and smelly room with a terrible old and dirty carpet on the floor. The shower did not work and the bed was hard as stone. In the morning after 6.30am it was impossible to sleep. There was some generator above our room makeing a terrible noice. So we had to move out after one night.

The only positive thing: The people at the reception are friendly.

We stayed one night and were glad it was only one night. Whilst the location was good and the reception area was nice, unfortunaltely this didn't extend to the room we stayed in.  We found the room gloomy, smelt really musty, had horrible carpet and was noisy at night.
We thought it was poor value for money compared to other places we stayed in Ecquador, especially as breakfast wasn't included.

Receptionist had no record of booking even when shown confirmation email on my iPod. Room adequate size. Carpet needed vacuum. Toilet needed 3 flushes to work. Loose electrical connection in bedlamp. Emergency exits both deadlocked from inside. Reception bell not answered so had to go looking for someone with key to let us out. Notice to clients incomprehensible in English. Had to read the Spanish to make any sense. Huesped (guest) mistranslated as hostage - and that's what it felt like. Left next morning for Tiana hostal and immediately felt better about Latacunga

Two nights here, very good value with a huge room too myself for $14. Hot water erratic, service mostly good and pretty decent restaurant next door. Very good value for solo or couple not looking to hang with backpackers.

Room Tip: Thin walls so do not get a room on the street or ground floor
