“Magnificant!”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

This is one of the best restaurants in the Champagne. Monique, Sylvie and Eric are wonderful hosts. Monique even gave us a tour of her garden in the afternoon (outside opening hours).

We started with duet of foie gras served with a slice of toasted fruit loaf ... to die for! We washed it down with a superb champagne from next door, Lallier. It was then followed by beed filet which was cooked to perfection. Not thinking that that could be topped we had a pistachio cream with fresh strawberries and toasted almonds ... We were in heaven!

So much so that we came back the next evening and were impressed again! We sat on the patio and had dinner overlooking Monique's beautiful garden.

This restaurant is wonderful proof that the French stereotype of being pretentious is not true. We will definitely be back!!! Merci à vous, Monique, Sylvie et Eric!!!

“a "Grand Cru" Stay”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

I am having a great week staying at Clos Saint Georges. The B&B is full of character and charm. The food is fresh from the market, alive mouthfeel. wine list is extensive and rich in diversity, being able to drive you through the smallest wine growers and scarce amount of high quality till the greater houses. In the heart of Aÿ you walk from the vines till the river in 15min discovering the richness of all the famous Grand Cru houses and wine growers.

“One of the best lunches of my life”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Here I was with my family on a day tour in Reims. We were focused on the champagne and sightseeing. Food was the least ithing were were worried about.
However, this restaurant was everything we were not expectig.
The food is AMAZING! I was so surprised this place is not Michelin rated.
I don't eat at the best bistros in Paris what I ate here. Fresh white asparagus, fresh foie gras, the best crispy pig, duck breast, OMG! I can't wait to go back!
A gem in Ay!!!
A MUST!!!
We got to know this place by our tour guide Chris. He is also the best tour guide in Reims/Epernay for champagne tours. I totally recomend him.
But anyway, Le Vieux Puits is very special place. Classic top french cuisine. And more!

“beautiful restaurant with good service but food is unimpressive and expensive”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

We've been there on a Saturday night. You are kinda 'obliged' to have a menu (starter + main dish + dessert) and the price is very expensive for what you get.
Event if the place is beautiful and service is good, food is unimpressive and expensive.
We were 4 persons and the bill was more than than €300 (4 menus + a bottle of wine).

“The place for a celebration in Ay”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

I have eaten here 3 times now, each time for celebrations and they always excel. The food is always very fresh and prepared with great imagination. It is lovely to eat on the terrace on a hot summer evening.
