“A good place to stay.”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

I used this hotel as a base to explore the burgundy region. It is in a lovely location overlooking sone of the best vine yards of Burgundy. The rooms are clean, a good bathroom and the family run hotel has a pleasant atmosphere and you are made to feel welcome. Travel 4 kms done the road and eat at the delightful restaurant Clos Napoleon in Fixin - superb. Dijon is lovely - follow the 'Owl' trail and if you want to go somewhere different - 40kms Dole is delightful. But obviously the world class wine is the main draw - and boy does it live up to expectations.

Stayed in august and was able to book just the day prior to arrival.
The rooms on the entrance level are slightly larger but neither is large. Our room was pretty standard with a red carpet, nothing special. The bathroom was refurbished and good. Sleeping was good and the hotel was quite.
The staff (family?) has a special, or even odd, charm. Slightly reserved but still friendly.
There is no minibar but there's no problem to store or freeze stuff in their refrigirator or freezer.
The location is nice with views of the vineyards and you can take a very short walk into the small center of the village where you can find an upsclale restaurant as well as more simple establishment, the wine shops and some ordinary shops and the bakery.

I hadn't decided on breakfast so in the morning I checked it out first. The outdoor seating looked great but the breakfast table looked very booring. Considering it is 12€ for adults. Don't know why but we took it anyway and it turned out that they served you beverages of choice at the table, a bread basket with good variation, home made jams, fruits etc. So I do really recommend the breakfast.

The Gevrey-Chambertin is merely a village but this hotel is great quality for money. For starters, the owners and the personnel are all kind and friendly. The rooms are sober but extremely clean and very comfortable. The breakfast is, for France, very good, with a very friendly service. In the summer you can have breakfast on the terrace.
It's a pity that they do not run a restaurant. The only restaurant in the village, now that the Bon Bistrot is closed, is awful. The food is good, but the service is terrible. If you do not order a bottle of wine of at least 150 euros they do not even look at you...
We had a chat with the new owner of the Bon Bistrot and he told us that it would reopen on a new location (more in the centre) by summer 2013. If it does not, we will never pass by Gevrey-Chambertin anymore. Unless.....Hotel Les Grands Crus decides to start a kitchen.

We selected this Logis stop-over on our way down to provence. Well .... what a lovely surprise it was. very clean, modern and such a beautiful location.

Set in the middle of the Burgundy region, a few miles from Nuit St George. Walking distance from the centre of the village where you can buy the best wine of the region!

We had a fabulous breakfast on the sunny terrace. Included in the price of the room which was very reasonable.

Room Tip: This hotel only provides breakfast therefore our restaurant rating reflect the morning meal as they...

Very friendly reception. Nice room overlooking vineyards. Enjoyable breakfast. Shame there is no restaurant and also a shame that Chez Guy is promoted by the hotel as the place to eat - it really is not all it is cracked up to be ... amazing wine list at expense account prices and only average food.

Pleasant walking/cycling routes right outside the hotel entrance.

WIFI did not work in hotel which, had we been staying on a weekday would have been very inconvenient!

Room Tip: Try to get a room over looking the vineyards

We recently stayed at the Grands Crus on overnight stops to and from Provence. It is situated just outside the famous wine village of Gevrey Chambertin in Burgundy, within convenient walking distance of the village centre and the well-known restaurant, Chez Guy.

The hotel has spacious and quiet rooms with the bonus of air-conditioning in the summer and is surrounded by a pretty garden and vineyards. The only disappointment were the pastries at breakfast, not freshly-baked by a local boulangerie but microwaved frozen ones. This is becoming a lazy habit in French hotels and is most off-putting. They should support their local bakeries. I am surprised that other reviewers have not noticed this.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for the 'comfort' rooms - they are worth it for the extra space.

A friend and I stayed here three nights in May as part of our Burgundy cycling trip. First, the good parts about the Hotel. The location is delightful with lovely views across the vineyard covered hillside and close enough to be able to walk a short way (a few hundrd metres) into the village and a really good reataurant (Chez Guy). Our rooms were bright (we were on the top floor), spacious (I need to be able to lie down on the floor and stretch for my after-cycling stretch routines), and clean. There was plenty of room to spread our stuff out and the bathroom was a reasonable size as well and also very clean with room to spread out toiletries. The staff is very good, always cheerful and helpful. Breakfast was good as well. Th bed was comfortable and it was very quiet.

Ok, now for the not so good stuff. There is no shower or even a hook to hang the hand held up so that you could at least stand up but that was not possible especially since there wasn't even a shower curtain. The bedside lights were so weak that without leaving on the overhead light or
using a flash light, you can't read in bed. The hair dryer is so weak you may as well just hang your head out the window to dry your hair.

Less serious stuff included - no in-room safe, no fridge (and no, I don't need a mini bar but a little bar fridge comes in handy), no English t.v. (BBC or CNN is nice to have to check the news).

The choices in these little towns is always limited and this place certainly has it's good side but with not too much effort or cost, it could certainly be a lot better.
