We visited this old pub on spec - no booking - and were easily accommodated. I had been there during the summer and loved it, so took the family back. The pub is small, but tons of atmosphere - originally built in the 1840s, many of the old features are still there but updated for comfort. Food was of good quality, well cooked and presented and tasty. I had the lamb shanks and enjoyed the melt in your mouth lamb with a tasty sauce and great mash. Others in the party recommended the salt and pepper squid, the lamb pie and the steak. Desserts were a little disappointing compared with the rest of the meal. Friendly, helpful staff and a great wood fire made for a pleasant wet Saturday afternoon.
