On Thursdays, the city centre of Sacile is transformed to a street market, farmers market and clothing market. You can spend several hours wandering through the city streets. It went on and on. We'd finish one street and turn up another. We should've taken breaks. The regular storefronts joined in by putting out tables with their market day specials. The mood is festive with locals gossiping and seeing their friends and shopping together. There were cheese, bread, and food vendors, all types of clothing vendors, inexpensive bags, scarves, gadgets, flowers and plants and other fun items to shop for. If you have a car and are staying at one of the city centre hotels, be forewarned that parking is prohibited from early morning until about 1:30pm. I was told that many towns have their own day for the market. If you're visiting Venice, take the hour train ride to Sacile and plan to spend a Thursday market day with shopping, food breaks and an afternoon aperol time before heading back to Venice. Nice day trip! Don't forget your shopping bag, or just buy one there!
