The rooms are small, dark and noisy. The room prices are too high but it's the only place in San Carlos that is about average. In San Carlos there is a problem with the power and water supply so you better not book a room with airco because it will not function because of the lack of power at night.

This hotel is located two blocks from the town’s square, short distance from the boat piers, immigration and main bus terminal; and yet it is tucked away from all the hustle. It is an easy walk to everything.
The hotel offers variety of rooms. My room was on the second floor. It had two beds, fan, shelving a chair and window (with glass slats) one to the outside and other to the hallway. The interior walls are very thin, basically just wood planks. During my stay there were only few people staying here. But still, at night I could hear every move the person in the next room made. My room was clean with good bed and clean linen. During my stay here I didn’t need A/C and the fan was good enough. The hotel has rooms with A/C as well. The shared bathrooms were recently build or renovated and were nice and clean.
My complaint is about noise at night and especially very early morning when it got considerably noisy. This was mainly due to the neighbors starting their vehicles located just outside the window. The staff was nice but spoke no English.
I believe rooms at the main floor will be quieter. However, they have windows opening into the inside of the building. There is a nice restaurant literally next door. I have seen three places before this hotel and this hotel was the best of them.

This is a very decent hotel in a quiet side street close to the lake. Air-conditioning, nice rooms, good beds, really nice bath. Ask for the rooms in the #20-25 range, they overlook a green space and the lake in the background and have a cute porch walk to sit on. the owners are very accommodating and friendly. A rustic atmosphere and relaxing. Next door a new great pub/restaurant with NICE breakfast, didn't even have to step in the street to reach it. Would definitely return!!

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms in the #20-25 range (the ones on the back porch walkway)

The Cabinas Leykos are down the street two blocks from the Catholic Church and the fort/museum in San Carlos, Rio San Juan. I've stayed there three times at least and each time I've gotten somewhat adequate accommodations.

This is not a luxury hotel but is nicer than the other places I've stayed there. Be sure to get a room with a shower though as the shared showers outside the upper rooms are pretty bad. Even the showers in the rooms have low pressure and generally no shower heads but are much cleaner than the shared ones.

There are a lot of different room styles there, with and without a shower. There are singles, double singles, triple singles and some with double beds and a/c. A/C is nice in San Carlos, particularly in this part of town which is at the bottom on the main town and close to the lake.

There is a nice patio area with rocking chairs in front of the hotel above the street and it's fun to watch the kids playing soccer or whatever other diversion they've found. There is a small tienda/store just down the street.

The staff is nice but doesn't speak English for the most part. There seem to be a number of government and business workers that stay there and many of them speak English, and are willing to assist if needed.

San Carlos is an interesting little town and we see improvements in their infrastructure every time we're there. The Cabinas Leykos as the nicest of the hotels that I'm aware of there, but several blocks from immigration and the boat arrival docks. Taxis are cheap readily available from there and the airport east of town.

There 'may' be parking there, either on the street or in a gated area outside the lower cabins. I say 'may' because I've only seen vehicles there a few times and I'm not sure if they charge for parking or what arrangements need to be made to park inside the gated area. I'd suggest asking when making reservations, if parking is required.
