Gateway Lifestyle Lorikeet
Reviewed October 21, 2013

we stayed at the Lorikett on our way heading north, and wow what a place, we loved it so much that we stayed here agian on our way back down the coast.
We were travelling to Hervey Bay from Hobart with my wife and 3 kids, we had stayed at some ok places, but when we arrived here we were thrilled with all aspects of the park, from the cabins to the facilities to the friendly satff, we stayed in a deluxe 2 bedroom cabin the first stop and we were then joined by some family members and we stayed in a deluxe 3 bedroom cabin and they were brilliant, clean and well appointed.
we will definitely be back here in the not to distant future.
The pool area was fantastic, clsoe to the BBQ facilities and the beach was only a short stroll from the park, all in all this is highly recommended to stay if you have the chance.

This place is pure magic beautifully manicured gardens with an abundance of wild life. Staying in new cabins which are clean and well presented. Whoever owns this park should thank their Lucy stars that they have the managers that they have. The are so friendly and accomodating. It is close to a beech. The pool and spa are great and there are many covered BBQ areas. Would come again

Room Tip: There is a free shuttle bus to the local hotel the amble inn where superb meals are served

Have stayed here several times over the years, both in cabins & with caravan. Ensuite sites are great. Family open plan cabins good too. Big clean & everything you need. Nice clean pool & spa with plenty of seating. Best part is the awesome beach, which u can even drive down to if u are loaded up with kids stuff! But a nice short walk though the grounds. Lovely & quiet & close to shops & restaurants too.

We have been holidaying at the lorikeet since 1986. We were a young couple then a couple with young children to couple with teenagers to a not so young couple on our own. Throughout the years it has been a haven where we could relax get away from our schedules. When lorikeet was sold we were worried what would happen to our park because the original owners had set such a high standard but the current management has maintained the standards the Fallshaws had set. The park is immaculate and the cabins spotless i love the clean smell when we first arrive. If the park and its facilities are not great enough then theres the beautiful beach where theres room for everyone even in busy times like easter and christmas. You are always met with a smile by staff especially the hard working girls that clean cabins. We used to ask our kids if they wanted to go somewhere else and their reply was always why. We think of the lorikeet as our home away from home...we love it!

The Lorikeet Holiday Park.

210 Eggins Drive, Arrawarra. Approx 30min north of Coffs Harbour.
www.lorikeet.com.au
Park managers Jo & Michael Howe

In the case of the Lorikeet Holiday Park the old adage of 'never judge a book by its cover' certainly applies here. Arriving before lunch we were greeted by friendly staff who checked us in and gave our welcome package including a map of the resort with highlighted direction to our cabin. I managed to get us lost, yes even here.

The cabin has two bedrooms, a separate toilet and bathroom which in itself has a separate shower and spa bath and a sky light. There is what appears to be a cupboard which in fact contains a washing machine and the kitchen has plenty of cupboard space and room to move. Plenty of windows allow for natural lighting during the day and many light fixtures for your choice of night time reading or relaxing. The cabin if fully furnished with lounges, dining table, microwave oven, gas oven, good size fridge, kettle and toaster. The is a small cupboard which contains an ironing board and iron.

Both bedrooms have plenty of cupboard space with the 2nd room consisting of a bunk bed and single bed. The living area's are furnished with cane furniture and there is a table setting on the verandah. There is a TV, DVD player (not working) and a Foxtel/Austar set top box so we were set.

The grounds appeared clean and well maintained with a swimming pool and spa. There is a tennis court, basket ball court and several BBQs around the area. Our cabin is located right next to a lake and the park is located very close to the beach. There is also amenities for campers and motor home users.

When we arrived at our cabin we were delighted to find the cabin with full amenities and as described and pictured on the website. The decor was appropriate with the surrounding area, giving the cabin a beach /summer theme. We unpacked the car and inspected the cabin.

A trip to the beach lead to shell collecting and more than a few photo's. Back at the cabin we decided to take a drive to Coffs Harbour. We got to Coffs, went to the harbour, ate a rather delicious and rather large hamburger from the Latitude Bar & Restaraunt. However the service was a little on the casual side of things with the impression we got was that the staff preferred to talk to their friend and coworkers and not serve us. On the positive side the food did come our quickly. The drive back to the cabin was a casual affair with us watching the upgrade to this part of the Pacific highway as we drove on.

Sleep for me was a little difficult as I turned out to be a smorgasbord for mosquito's and so onto the lounge and listen to the night life of frogs, birds and the occasional thumping sound of kangaroo's moving around (as I found out when I went outside to investigate).
Morning arrived and was a beautiful sight as a few kangaroo's and water dragons were seen and birds chirping was heard. Off to bed for a little while to cuddle up to my beautiful but headache suffering partner.

Next day we took a trip back to Coffs Harbour via a few of the coastal inlets and towns and stopped at Woolgoolga for a fruit smoothie for me and banana smoothie for Michael and a slice of banana bread each. Although the service was slow it was good and the staff appeared friendly and the food really nice. We continued our coastal theme until we returned to the wharf area at Coffs Harbour where we stopped for lunch. The cafe, called the Urban Espresso was nice enough, however the service was not too good with the staff here also making us feel like intruders and a couple of mistakes made with someone else's order delivered to our table and an order of water completely forgotten, however the food was nice and servings were on the generous side. I think both the Latitude Bar & the Urban Espresso Cafe will be avoided next visit as I believe a combination of good food and good customer service makes a place great not one or the other.

The drive home was uneventful and a stop at the Park's shop/reception we hired a DVD to watch back at the cabin. A chat to our poor park manager Jo Howe led us to wish and hope her and her husband Michael have a great afternoon, evening and night. Not to be the case however as back at the cabin and after a soothing spa bath, we discovered the DVD player did not work and the free to air channels not working. A call to reception resulted in Michael (park manager) arriving without hesitation and with the same service and friendly manner we have come to expect (at lest this side of Coffs Harbour, anyway), and apologising for the inconvenience but we were not bothered as again the service and reception was friendly, professional and made us welcome indeed. We settled into a night of Foxtel /Austar and an early night for our trip home.

I have to say the 2 nights and 1 full day in the Lorikeet Holiday Park was a great experience and in my opinion we will go back there. Even though when we first arrived we thought ' what have we gotten into?' However we left thinking it turned out lovely, tranquil, beautiful and peaceful which really is what we set out to experience during our final two days on holiday. Lovely, friendly and polite park managers added to our positive experience. Hence "never judge a book by its cover".

We stayed here for 2 nights in a deluxe cabin. The park is gorgeous and immaculately kept - great facilities, lovely pool with a toddler splash pool, cute playground, little shop, BBQ area, so close to a secluded, gorgeous beach and lovely, quiet surrounds.

Couldn't fault our cabin - it was immaculately clean and well positioned for our little weekend, and the kids loved staying there. I slept well in the bed (and I am a fussy sleeper), I got a little cold at night, but there were spare blankets in the cupboard which was perfect.

We definitely plan on coming back for a longer stay!

Great landscaping, pool was great, ten minute walk to awesome beach, quite isolated otherwise, you'd have to drive to town for supplies etc. very clean shower block, one of the best parks we have stayed at, we had a powered site, they allowed early check in, staff were great, truly exceptional park.
