“Wonderful Experience.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

We had the privilage of staying at this Chateau for the weekend of our wedding anniversary. It is certainly a 6 star place to stay. The room feels like you are living in a castle but with all the mod cons. The Duchess Rochefoucauld invited us both nighgopher per dinner drinks with her in her rooms - a wonderful experience learning more about the Chateau. Breakfast was an experience to treasure as well.
Then the opportunity to view the 26 rooms, more than any other chateau we had visited, and the cellar rooms, reading the history all the way was an unforgettable experience.

“A little disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2012

Without a doubt this was a stunningly beautiful chateau. It still is to a large degree - seriously impressive architecture. However there is a real air of faded glory here. Clearly the owning family are struggling with the upkeep of the place which must be cripplingly expensive.

It is certainly worth a visit if you are in the area. However I wouldn't suggest making a special trip if you are further afield.

Also if you don't speak french, there is very limited information available. You are provided a two sided A4 information sheet on arrival with a brief outline. There are a number of explanatory exhibits around the property but all are in french.

The chateau could really benefit from an audio guide and being a bit more "open" (you probably only get to see half of the property.

“Very enjoyable but only English leaflet to read so felt missed a bit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2012

It was a very enjoyable Chateau to visit, I dressed up in the mediaeval costumes as did most of the visitors. It was great fun! Would have like an English tour but while these may be available we weren't ther at the right time.

“Beautifully historical!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2012

A fantastic example of a French Chateau that is true to it's roots and not overly decorated. So many rooms to visit, plus the dungeons and a tour of the 4 library rooms all included. Great value for money.
