“Greatest Golf Anywhere.”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

My family, friends and I have played golf at Victoria many time and I have to say it's probably the finest experience anywhere. The original caddy master Peter was an absolute gentleman as is the current guy Siva, also his assistant who is a great guy.
From the moment you leave the first tee (with caddy and ballboy) what a luxury ! ! ! Far superior than Europe & America. The course is extremely beautiful with some of the most amazing views from the various tees, especially the third hole and the quite spectacular fifth. The caddies are very knowledgable and most of all honest as are the ballboys.Forget wingeing about the rooms and food
If it's golf you go to Victoria for it cannot be beaten. Will be back soon. Barry Walker.

Enjoyed every minute of staying at this resort. The food at the clubhouse was a highlight. I had several lessons with the golf pro, who was a master of his craft and a true gentleman. The kind nature of all the staff was a welcoming way to spend a few weeks in Sri Lanka.

You really feel like you've been dropped in the middle of the jungle with the beautiful palm trees and rolling hills as the backdrop.

A great holiday!

We were happy to choose the Victoria Golf and Country Resort as our wedding venue and honeymoon destination. From start to finish, the management went out of their way to help us and offer us the best services. We were quite sceptical about booking Victoria as our wedding venue but upon seeing their successful golf tours and events for the members they have organised, we knew that even though weddings were a new event for them, they were keen in going every step of the way in making it lovely and memorable for us.
I have to say, in addition to the gorgeous views and stunning landscape which beautified our wedding photographs, the bungalows are perfect for staying.
The clubhouse where we had the wedding and set up the marquee was in the middle of lovely environs and the food was delicious and first-class. The management gave us a free wedding meal taste and we were happy that what we selected suited the palate to our Sri Lankan, British and international guests' taste. The desserts and puddings were delicious and I could see many of our guests helping themselves to seconds!
We had to impress many high-profile guests including the Mayor of Kandy and the British High Commissioner so we choose wisely when we decided to go with Victoria because they our exceeded expectations!
Organising a wedding on a golf course is a formidable task and the team at Victoria were very helpful. Everything from giving us the use of golf buggys to a lovely horse for our wedding shoot made our special day more memorable. We were happy to book the chalets so that our immediate family could stay and our British friends made use of the Eagle lodge as well. We got permission to add lights to my bridal suite to dress me up for the wedding shoot. Moreover, Dhanushika went the extra mile to organise little bits of detail like setting up the wedding cake and bringing sunglasses when the groom needed it the most!
They handled things very well when they worked on a professional level with our florist and our marquee man. The flexibility and help given to us to make sure we had a romantic wedding was given and we are very happy they allowed us.
We booked the Tamarind Lodge for our honeymoon night which is run by a lovely and friendly Sri Lankan couple who gave us a delicious marital breakfast. The dive/swimming pool was superb and our family and friends made full use of it. We loved our suite, the fantastic views, awesome food and wonderful hospitality. We stayed there for two nights and left soon after for our homecoming.
We thank Errol, Dhanushika, Indu, Ananda and the rest of the staff including the caddies for helping me with my first ever golf lesson!
We will definitely come back again! For those who want a stunning wedding venue as well as a place to impress would-be in-laws or for those just wanting to chill and have a golf holiday, Victoria Golf and Country resort is the place to be!

Room Tip: Tamarind Lodge and Bamboo Villas are the best picks from the bungalow range!

This is a small resort with only about 20 rooms. Each room is semi detached with a nice seating area outside. Most people come for the golf course but there is a large swimming pool tennis, mountain biking, badminton and horse riding and a spa. The setting is just enchanting and restaurant overlooks the golf course then through to the mountains covered with tropical vegetation, just lovely. Take a tuk tuk round the area and see the views of the giant lake from Coconut Hill behind the resort.
Kandy is a taxi ride from the resort and well worth a trip to see the temple and Botanic garden.
The golf course is beautiful with super views and a challenging terrain the caddies and really helpful and patient especially if you are a novice. The wild life is great we saw lots of troops of monkeys, deer, eagles and monitor lizards.
It’s our third visit and the place is getting better and better.

Place is great, Early morning as you open the curtains the view is simply superb, Lot of birds and water.

Went on our honeymoon and enjoyed the stay, food is good but lacks menu variety. Rooms are spacious and clean, rooms satisfactory but not luxurious.

All minor discomforts dissolve due to the beautiful backdrops.

This place was great! As others have pointed out, it's a wee bit out of town but the views are simply mesmeric. As a keen golfer it's also a great opportunity to play a lot while you're there (which we did) and my caddy was particularly helpful (I believe his name is Himal). Really recommend this place for a relaxing stay with friends or as a couple.

The golf course and hotel are located a good 30 mins from the city centre. That being said, the golf course resides next to the beautiful lake Victoria and has stunning views. It's a great place for quiet contemplation while having a drink and a chat with family and friends.

The chalet style rooms are airily good quality. Our room had a pseudo outdoor style shower which was a bit weird but it added to the charm. Because it's on the lake there can be some problems with mosquitoes so it's good to have some decent repellent. The hotel could perhaps provide mosquito nets in the rooms as a future enhancement for guests.

The quality of the food was excellent with a lovely menu and excellent table service.
