This was our first dinner out since the baby arrived—so we wanted to make it count. Service was impeccable as was the food. We chose the four course menu (Menu de la Maine) from the spring menu with a d'accord du vin to accompany each course. (Great locally sourced wines from Estagel, Saint Paul de Fenouillet and others towns.)

Culinary highlights: Sea bream—sheer perfection—mint foam was intense! Pigeon was beautifully rose and rich caramel sauce, pine nuts and chard were bold and ideal accompaniments. Dessert included grapefruit sorbet, strawberries and sugar encrusted olives—arguably the highlight of the evening.

Four courses, two people, with wine, coffees and cognac—€193. Beautiful setting. The friendly chef came to say hello at the end of our meal. We were made to feel very welcome and special.

Looking forward to visiting again.

The auberge is a restaurant with rooms and is situated in the village of Montner in the heart of the Cote De Rousillon wine district.. The rooms are typically French and very comfortable.
We had a superb evening meal on the terrace overlooking the vineyards. The Chef /proprietor Pierre Louis Marin richly deserves a Michelin star, and together with his wife Beatrice they make perfect hosts. The maître d in the restaurant with his knowledge of wines adds to the allround experience of a classic French restaurant. We will certainly return.

This is a truly a hidden gem.
Great food very well presented and very very tasty, attentive service, very reasonable prices.
Pity food critics have not found it (yet!) It well deserves to be in all posh food guides.

The first surprise was how reasonable the rates for the meals were, when booked with the stay at the fine small hotel. The dinner, a reduced version of their normal high class offerings, was excellent, served well on their very fine terrace. The only flaw was that the profiteroles on desert were kind of stale, a curious way to spoil an otherwise perfect meal. The breakfast deserved the highest praise: Perfect in all aspects. Fresh orange juice, very good croissants, nice rolls, great jams, good local cheese, a selection of local or homemade charcuterie and a basket of ripe seasonal fruit. Not only worth a detour but also a repeat visit!

It was lovely to be able to return to this wonderful restaurant for another memorable meal. I have been very lucky to have dined here a number of times in recent years and have never been disappointed. Great food and excellent service. I am sure this is the best restaurant in the area! Wel worth a visit.
