Although the welcome was friendly, the rest of the stay was awful. The room was adequate but pump action soap, guest basket full of creams from other hotels, mattress lumpy and hard, pillow thin - horrible, horrible.
The breakfast room was very very tired with exposed wires dangling out electric sockets and another broken one. The plates, cutlery and glasses were all grimy - I had to sort down to find a clean bowl.
Breakfast - I chose cereal and asked whether there was any fruit available. No such luck. The milk was decidely rubbery.
The budget full English breakfast which my colleague faced had one of those ghastly sausages with a plastic jacket on and contained everything but the squeak.
And the Daddies Tomato Sauce... expiry date October 2008. I pointed this out to the proprietor? who told me not to worry as the bottles were regularly refilled from the kitchen. Lovely---yuk. Suggested he might change the caps in case Trading Standards paid a visit.
Outside the rooms - paper waste and leaves and general detritus blowing around.
Simply cannot recommend this place. Awful.
