The hotel sign facing the river once had 5 stars embedded in the concrete of the perimeter wall, but 2 have fallen off and not been replaced - and in my opinion that is the way it should stay.
Arriving at 7pm on a Tuesday winter night with no reservation, I could immediately tell from the entrance and lobby that this was just a very ordinary hotel, certainly not 5-star, so I got a big shock when I was told the room rate was 660 pesos ($170). On protest this quickly came down to 550 - still far too high given the internet rate was about 400. On mentioning the magic words "internet rate" I was offered 480, which further haggling reduced to 428, only 3 pesos more than the actual internet offer, as I later discovered.
That being said this is quite a nice hotel in a reasonably attractive location, and has a surprisingly busy casino attached, the largest in Entre Rios province. The restaurant, although nothing special, has a few good dishes with prices even of the wine quite reasonable. The small town of Victoria itself - about 2 km away - is rather sleepy but has a nice plaza surrounded by historic buildings. We ended up staying 3 nights mainly because the casino was of some interest to me, of which the less said the better.
