Habachklause

The Maier Family and all the team are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. It's a really relaxing and stress free hotel with great facilities for the kids, and plenty for the adults too. Our kids (4 and 7) feel totally at home and have free run of the place - we've been 3 times now and have booked our 4th for next Feb. The food is excellent too. Skiing is possible on a small hill with lift right outside the hill in the high season, and sledging is free anf fun there too. The Wildkogel ski arena cable car is 10 mins away by regular bus service straight from the hotel and the ski school from age 3+ is excellent and very child friendly too. The staff at the hotel and ski school feel like old friends now. We can't imagine going anywhere else to ski with our kids for years to come.

although we stayed in mid march and temperatures where already between 15 and 19 ° C there was enough snow, thanks to the altitude of the valley where the hotel is located.

the hotel reception at arrival was excellent, we where called on phone just before we arrived if everything is ok and if we would need any help to get there.

the young lady at the reception desk was really friendly and explained all details to us.

we chose the "families suite sphen comfort" and there was enough space for 2 adults and 2 children (had a separate room) - we slept like babies (really good beds).
the hotel gave us 1 night for free because we booked 7 days!

the offer included almost everything - you just pay the drinks - even all babyfood is for free.

till 17:00 all non alcoholic drinks including coffee and tea are included and you can take as much as you want.

breakfast is more than one can eat - all you can imagine is available - i would´t be able to mention anything missing.

at lunch time you have a smaller choice but soups and main dishes are available, in the afternoon a "Jause" is offered and a selection of pastry.

dinner is again more than one can eat (you may select one of 3 main dishes and several appetizers as well as 10 different salads) - and "cheers to the cook" - the dishes are all delicious.

our small baby 11 month old was taken care of for several hours a day in the baby club (mother will love to have some free time) and the older daughter enjoyed the children's club.

both clubs have separate rooms and toys as well as babysitters all included in the hotel price.

our room had a very nice view towards the valley and the mountains.

the Spa is a little small for the 33 room hotel and i can imagine if the hotel is fully booked it might be a bit crowded - the owner told me he is investing later in 2012 in enlarging the Spa area

hotel also offers nice asian massage from the owners wife - she is from Bali.

we really felt well at almost all times and nothing was missing

the only remark i would make is that the staff was very quick to clear the tables and food after breakfast and dinner although you may sit as long as you want.
our room type didn´t have bathtub but shower!

i can highly recommend this hotel to any family with kids (in many similar hotels you pay baby sitting for age less than 12 month extra or it isn´t available) - i guarantee you a nice and unforgettable stay.

Room Tip: if you prefer to have no direct sun into the room (important in summer) take the rooms at the front...

Dear Friends:

Your kindness this past holiday season remains etched on our minds of what is good in life. We truly miss each of you from the beautiful and helpful front desk to the most wonderful greeting each evening as we gathered for dinner. It is quite likely the Habachklause staff will never realize how wonderful they are in comparison to other destinations. Iin our experience the Habachklause is the gold standard of family friendly hotels. I cannot think of a more wonderful place on earth to spend Christmas or a summer visit. We will be back, we miss all of you.

Very Respectfully

The moment we we picked up from the airport by Andy to the moment we left we we made to feel very welcome and treated with exceptional service and food. The staff are very attentive and helpful and well used to pretty much any question or request you may have of them.

The kinder club for our children (3.5 yr old twins) was excellent and that ladies that look after the children are brilliant. They are very kind and patient and extremely flexible which is just what you want as plans can change on the day depending on how the children are feeling.

Horst the manager is a star! He totally understands the customers needs and expectations. The food is delicious and healthy and the menu changes every day with a choice of meat or fish or vegetarian. Desserts are divine!

Spa is excellent. The outdoor pool is small but very relaxing. The facilities are wonderful, from sauna to massages to steam room to tepidarium ( heated tiled beds that relax every muscle after a days on the slopes!) and the kids/toddlers pool was just right.

All in all this is a great place to escape with the family and feel relaxed and pampered. We had a suite with two bedrooms, one big space for us, a separate lounge and a kids room with bunk beds. Good sized room with lovely views of the mountains and spa area.

The skiing at Wildkogel is great. We are both solid intmediate skiers and found plenty of piste to enjoy. Nothing too challenging but if most skiers are honest then blues and reds are plenty. If you want my high octane skiing then Kitzbuhel and Zell am See are only a few kms away.

We will be going back for sure and would recommend Habachklause to anyone.

Room Tip: Ensure you request no smoking room.

This all-inclusive family resort in the Austrian Alps is perfect in every sense. We stayed here in August 2010 for one week, we had a two bedroom suite (very spacious) but unfortunately on the top floor. The problem was that we did not have any big windows to look out of, except in the rather large bathroom. Since it was also a rather hot summer, we were not able to get much fresh air into the suite. The food was always excellent and plentiful, the activities on the resort were varied. In the area there were lots of nice trips to be made, it was perfect for one week, but not longer. The only facility not up to snuf was the pool. Far too small. But we spent time at a nearby lake which was perfect for sunbathing and swimming. We highly recommend this hotel for families with children between the ages of four and ten, but not any older than that.

I don't want to use the word "exceptional" lightly but this really does describe our stay at Habachklause. From the moment we stepped in the door on a snowy late afternoon we experienced warm, friendly service. The owner told us during our stay that we should feel at home and my family and I certainly did. This resulted in an experience that was unlike any other hotel we have ever stayed, where we could relax with the children, where we did not worry about leaving our winter gear behind a chair in reception or the children wandering about the hotel (its small so your can't loose them and the staff are always there to point them in the right direction!). This review can not really do the hotel justice but here are some highlights:

Excellent food, as we are Muslim and do not eat pork we really appreciated the staffs efforts the cater for this and the ability (even encouragement) to order things "off menu" for the children to ensure that they eat well.

Wonderful service, from the owner down to the chambermaid everyone went out of there way to provide not only efficient service but make us feel truly welcome.

This is the ultimate child friendly destination (but definitely not the place for childless couples!), we loved how the kids could take themselves off to the play room / club while we eat dinner. Entertainment for the children such as face painting and balloon making was excellent but best of all was the fact that no one minded them running around and just being kids! This is in stark contrast with other hotels where parents are always made to feel on edge and have to be constantly watching out for what the children may be doing.

Perfect location - our room overlooked a tree lined valley leading up into the mountains with a stream running down. The hotel is set on its own so you are not at the center of the après Ski but it is perfect if you want to be away from the crowds. The slope at the side hotel was excellent for tobogganing (with hotel provided free toboggans) and basic level ski practice.

I am not sure whether this is really in the control of the hotel but I also have to comment on the other guests who were just lovely people, if any are reading this, thank you!

In terms of the room itself, this was large and comfortable with not too much furniture, just right for a family. Spotlessly clean. While the bathroom could have been on the larger side with a bath to ease aches and pains from the skiing this is a relatively insignificant concern given the other positives about the hotel. There is also (according to my wife) an excellent spa with wonderful treatments and a lovely swimming pool area.

In summary, we will probably break our golden rule not to go back to the same place twice (because there are so many other places in the world to visit) and be booking for next year in due course - this alone is the highest complement and recommendation I can give.

Room Tip: Rear rooms in the main building will have the best view.

Our extended family flew into Munich from Boston, Baltimore, and Tel Aviv. We drove to Bramberg from Munic airport and stayed for a week-long ski vacation.

Bottom line: we couldn't have asked for a better place for spending quality time with our families.

* Rooms: fresh and spacious. We expected cramped rooms but were positively surprised. The rooms were big, well equipped, and comfortable.

* Babies: perfect amenities for babies. Free babysitting services during the day - separated by age groups. We had been worried that the hotel would be loud and crowded with kids but were very happy to find out that the hotel has only 30 rooms, and does a great job separating the play area from the relaxed sitting area.

* Service: outstanding. The staff, and especially the owner, went out of their way to give us everything we needed. One tiny example: since we loved one of their desserts, the next day the chef (the owner's son) prepared the same dessert especially for us.

* Location: 3 hours drive from Munich airport (via Kitzbuhel). About 5 minutes drive from the closest ski runs (Neukirchen). 20 minutes to Zell Am See and other ski resorts.

* Food. The best you can ask for in Austrian cuisine.

* Spa / pool: sauna, steam room, outdoor pool, baby pool, mineral room.
