Great food. Only problem was the attitude of the manager. They sell a wide range of imported beers. We had a taste of our beer and we saw BBE Jan 2014. We told the manageress that the beer had expired. She was adamant that the BBE was Bottled by. Not nice when you pay R 70 for a beer and they are expired.
Great atmosphere with a bad attitude.

It was my mother's birthday and we were on our way to another restaurant for lunch and decided to visit Hoi Polloi for the first time. What a lovely place, with great service and their treats were wonderful! Love the seating outside! Will visit again!

Great food, efficient service, superb wine list, cool decor. Very happy to have found this spot in Parys. Will definitely go back.

The Restaurant is centrally located on the main drag. The menu has some interesting items. However, the food is rather bland and much to the ordinary. I really expected the taste to match the description on the menu. Sadly, the diesel fumes from passing trucks were disturbing. The tables inside and on the back deck are better.

We sat outside and had lunch and a lovely Sauvignon Blanc (La Motte). I had the gourmet lamb burger (R71=US $ 7) which I found to be a bit dry. The sauce that went with it, something similar to a tsatsiki but not quite, didn't impress me either. My wife had kingklip in a coconut cream sauce (R110 = US $11) which she said was excellent. The chocolate cake, served together with port, made up for the lamb burger- it was moist, rich and dark, and absolutely wonderful (R50=US $ 5). Enjoyable.
