Had breakfast at Hoi Polloi yesterday morning. It's an eclectic and interesting spot in a typical small, South African tourist town. The stairs were a little daunting but unless you have physical challenges, aren't hard to negotiate.
The menu looked promising and the service was efficient and unobtrusive. When the food (eggs benedict and eggs florentine respectively) arrived, it was beautifully presented and showed some refinement. Eggs cooked very well.
Sadly, there was no seasoning or lemon used in the hollandaise and it was very bland. The home-made granola bread - although a nice idea - is very sweet and I would personally have preferred the option of regular toast or a more traditional English muffin.
The outside location is great for watching the world go by.
Worth a visit if you're tired of the usual heavy small town food and restaurant option.
