Visited this restaurant on last Sunday. Arrived at the end of breakfast time so decided to wait for a lunch service. Menu was amazingly different, very large selection and also excellent wine List. Prices a bit high for such far away venue(similar for what you would pay in Sandton) but food was of fantastic quality and very well presented. Unfortunately service was very slow. They warn you in the menu that it takes about 25 min for food to arrive, however it took about 15 min for a wine to arrive as well and food took about 35 min!. Most people seemed confused with such an exotic menu and prices so everybody around us was ordering hamburgers! A great pity. liquers on the menu did not show that they serve only 25 ml, so beware as they will charge you for the double if you querry the size of a drink and ask for normal liquer size.Restaurant is located on a top floor of an old building with a very steep staircase, rather scary to climb. Not sure of there is other entrance for eldery people.

We had breakfast twice in Hoi Polloi. Once on the veranda and the time inside. What a nice place. The food is very well presented, with interesting twists. The menu is on a clipboard with a good selection. Coffee was wonderful. The staff was friendly and attentive. I can really recommend Hoi Polloi.

After enquiring about availability, i was rudely asked by the manager if i had not seen the sign saying "full house". I politiely answered that i had, but asked about an empty table i had seen. Oh yes, she replied, that must have just become available.
After placing our order with a semi-comatose waitress, we waited over an hour for our food to arrive.... and how disappointing!!! Although well presented, the food was cold and bland.... The yellow tail fish was devoid of any seasoning, the rice was undercooked and generally tasteless. No matter how may roasted almonds you pile on top of a plate of food, it still requires seasoning. The chicken breasts were OK, but once again under seasoned. We asked the waitress for salt and pepper, and 10 minutes later, we had to get up and go and request same from the manager. The ambience was fine, but smokers at a nearby table made it unpleasant.
How terribly disappointing. Never again.!!! This venue needs some serious attention from the owners...

Went there on Sunday for a late breakfast. The menu offered great choices. When the food came out, it was above all our expectations. The flapjack stacks looked delicious. I had the “Boere” breakfast, and ended up not getting around to half the food on the plate. The sunny side up eggs ware done to perfection. Everything was very tasty. I loved the fresh herbs they used. I browsed through the rest of the menu and would love to go there for dinner or lunch! We sat outside, and after being inside on our way out, I would recommend sitting inside. The décor and atmosphere inside is much nice than outside.
