“Terrific tasting and tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

My wife and I visited last Saturday (May 11) for a tour and tasting. First we were shown the olive oil making operation which was really quite interesting, followed by a tour of the winery and finally we sampled several of the wines and oil while we were served a light snack. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. We learned quite a bit. At the end of the tour, we purchased a case of wine/oil which I am anxiously awaiting as I write this!

“Driver Marco Modesti took us here for lunch!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

We want to thank Marco Modesti, our day driver who took us out from Florence to the Tuscan countryside, and included a stop at Montecchio. We were so pleased with our lunch and tour, and the lovely service was so friendly. What a relaxing way to spend several hours.

“Simply amazing.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2013 via mobile

Great winery, amazing guide who was knowledgable and personable. Be sure to ask for Ariana who speaks great English and can clearly understand your questions. I found that 6€ per person to taste 4 wines was reasonable considering the size of the pour.

“A Fascinating Fattoria”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

A delightful, small group tour (in our case only the two of us) of a successful winery full of history and good wine. We arrived without a booking and Arianna was fabulous. She couldn't fit us into the next tour, but could do so if we came back later in the afternoon. We were so pleased we did.
Fattoria di Montecchio has a long history and we were taken on an excellent tour throughout the winery and its immediate grounds. The cellars under the old manor house are many hundreds of years old. Our knowledgable guide gave a very clear description of the process for a Chianti Classico wine rating that helped us better understand the wine history of this important region.

We then sat in a huge room with walls covered with unique rustic paintings while sampling a range of wines and savouring a delicious and interesting selection of cheeses, olives, etc. We really appreciated being given time to enjoy our tasting and look at the art. There was no "hard sell" on the wine, and Arianna and her staff were extremely professional in their advice when purchases were made.

This was a really enjoyable couple of hours learning about an old Tuscan winery and enjoying its wine and other produce. It was not conducted robotically, but warmly with a passion for the place and its work. After the tour we sat on a stone wall out the front and just soaked up the atmosphere and great view. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

“Snobby... Very disappointed”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I thought we would spend the afternoon touring a few wineries in the area.... Well, we were in Chianti. After a very enjoyable visit to a near by winery, we made our way to Monteccheio..... Only to be extremely turned off by the staff member working this day. When arrived has she was wrapping up with another group. She gave us a very uninviting glair while informing us to wait. We were understanding and patient for about 20 min. When it was finally our turn, she treated us as if we were wasting her time. She was short and snobby. We were so turned off the we just left, which was unfortunate because I was looking forward to purchasing a few bottles of wine and a large amount of the olive oil for holiday gifts.

This is my first negative review about our entire trip. I work in costumer service and understand bad days; but this was a once in a lifetime experience that we were left with feeling very disappointed with... It was an unfortunate experience.
