Reviewed January 31, 2012

Just returned from another Brilliant week at the Edelweiss.

Peter and Alison are Excellent hosts who always make our stay relaxed and comfortable.
The food is Top quality, plentiful, wholesome & home cooked
The staff are always on hand, polite and attentive,
their timing for offering another drink is superb, whether it be a purchased beer or Free jugs of water (2 of our group dont drink alcohol)
The en-suite rooms are comfortable with good powerful showers
And the Sauna is a great way to relax after a hard day skiing

WOW! what a diamond of a hotel. I could not disagree more with the previous review.
It was my first time in Austria and after my week there it certainly wont be my last!

HOSTS:
Peter & Alison were fantastic. They were welcoming, informative, friendly & always willing to go the extra mile to make your stay perfect. They clearly have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the area & ski resorts. Each morning they issue a small newsletter detailing the days weather, daily tips for skiing & the options for your evening meal (V.Organised) with both of them being fantastic skiiers their morning tips on how to improve techinque came in very useful.

ROOMS:
Ensuite, towels provided, majority of rooms have a double bed & bunk beds & wardrobe (with hangers). Cleaned daily & always left in a very neat & tidy way. Our room had a balcony which came in useful with airing rail provided for clothing. Beautiful views to back this all up.

FOOD:
Hearty home cooked meals! Breakfast was a buffet style & hosts were more than happy to top up anything needed & full range of juices, cerels, eggs, breads, teas/coffee's available.
Evening meals were 3 course & always delivered in a very timing fashion (you were never left waiting for your meal!!) they add the traditonal touches with mains & deserts which is really nice and allows you to taste the nation (but ice cream is amazing too!)

HOTEL:
Sauna is available in the hotel (always great after a full days skiing), A local masseuse is also available to your doorstep for a small charge. Plenty of board games in the lounge area (We actually left Monopoly out there, so enjoy!). Downstairs bar which has recently been updated and plenty of drink. And Bingo-bingo-Bongo is a MUST!

LOCATION:
Bus stops directly outside the hotel and timetable given every morning. 5 minute walk from local shop, bar and castle. Small taxi ride into Soll and surrounding areas, great for nightlife and only €3 or €4 per person.

SKIING:
Ski area is superb, infact the best ski range i have ever visited (and i have visited a lot!)
google SkiWelt and see for yourself!
Peter (the owner) offers a ski tour which is highly recommended as you will get to see more than you ever thought possible in a day!
The free bus from the hotel stops at the bottom of the Itter gondola so within few mins of leaving the hotel your at the top of the mountain.

All in all, i am Impressed and thank Club hotel Edelweiss for a truely great week!

Just come back from a week at the Edelwtheiss Hotel! What can I say!!! Probably the best ski holiday to date! Peter and Alison were FANTASTIC! Their level of hospitality gets better with each passing year! Their attention to detail exceeds my own expectations! and the home cooked food was truly fabulous! Combine that with superb snow conditions and some of the best ski areas in the world.... ITS THE HOLIDAY OF A LIFE TIME!!!!! Cant wait for the next one!

We had high hopes for this hotel, based on the feedback from TripAdvisor. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The word club means you are either in the club or not, the big groups that have returned are definately given preference, to the point where the hoteliers actually turn their backs on other guests (including taking their seats) leaving someone to continually ask you if you want more drinks. To then hear conversations about how to make clients pay for water, was a little rich. I suggest the conversation would have been better focussed upon how to serve your clients.

The food was poor, soup every day, little breakfast left (if someone takes too much breakfast then you lose out, it isn't replaced). The main course was the same sauce used for more or less everything. The coffee in the morning tastes like sawdust in hot water. You get the feeling that it is a real budget approach to food, giving large portions of tasteless food isn't good enough.

They are friendly, but maybe a veneer of friendly, the glazing of eyes when it got passed the necessary formality of friendly.

I suggest the checkout the downstairs toilets, some bleach would not go amiss. I would say the same for the rooms actually, around the plugs etc are decidely grubby.

The rooms are OK, getting tired I would say.

There is no atmosphere, after 8.30 there is no where to go and one bingo night was the entertainment. There is a lovely little bar in the village but no mention of it either verbally or in the brochure - it provided the most real friendly event we attended.

On the plus side, the young staff were very nice.

Go to this area to ski, the skiing was great - not always I understand but if the snow is there go somewhere like ellmau, try an austrian hotel and get a real experience.

This lovely hotel was the perfect base to ski the Skiwelt region. Two minutes away from the nursery slopes which you can use to get to the Gondola that takes you up to the main pistes.

The hotel itself is outstandingly clean, the rooms are lovely and the upkeep and maintenance is clearly a priority to the owners, who are two of the most knowledgeable and involved hoteliers I've ever come across. Nothing was too much for any of the staff at Edelweiss and Peter and Alison's knowledge of the area was incredibly helpful.

Breakfast was a great range of cereals, cold meats etc and dinner was quite simply something else - amazing soup, delicious desserts and the choice of two main meals every night which were always very tasty, filling and just what you needed after a hard days skiing!
The highlight of the week's evening entertainment was without doubt the quiz but the atmosphere in the hotel was always brilliant. Everyone was so friendly - it felt like sitting in your own lounge in the evening rather than a hotel.

We had a brilliant time and would come back next week if we could!
Thanks team Edelweiss!

Stayed here on a late deal in January 2012. Peter and Alison are the perfect hosts and ensured that our holiday was the best it could be. They offered daily skiing tips and up to date weather reports, along with great advice on the best areas to ski in, routes around the mountains and places to visit. Evening entertainment is a good laugh and well worth participating in. The trip Peter and Alison organised, to watch the slalom in Westendorf, was greatly appreciated and highlights the lengths they go to to make your stay special.

Meals are very nice and a good variety is offered throughout the week, with options of Austrian favourites and local speacialities. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable though now slightly dated.

Will definitely visit this hotel again, as it is a fantastic base to explore the Ski Welt.

Your hosts (note choice of word) are friendly and welcoming. Their knowledge of the area and of skiing is very helpful. Standards of cleanliness are very high, food is good, varied and plentiful and staff are invariably cheerful and hardworking (although young they are well trained). The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed whilst maintaining high standards of service. 3 generations of our family returned happily for a second visit.
