Having stayed at 100+ hotels on all continents, this is probably my favourite. It is a small, family-run hotel in a special (and quiet) location, with fantastic views of the lake and mountains. Loved the food(!), the sauna, the bike ride around the area, even the stereo system in the room. Can't wait to go back.

Having stayed in 1000's of hotels across the world this is one of the best ... If not the best.

We lived in Vienna for many years and stumbled on the hotel by accident. We have been back may be 15+ times over a dozen years.....and many of the guests are regular and repeat visitors. The view of the lake and the mountains from the rooms or terrace are just amazing. A grassy bank of a garden descends down to the lake with swimming off the piers, pedalo, canoe, table tennis, sea sauna, badminton and more all provided.

And then there is the food. A set dinner every evening that would put many of the best restaurants to shame. Without doubt the best food we have ever eaten in Austria ... and always a different menu to tantalise our taste buds.

The hotel is family run...and it shows. We have had many great family holidays there, with Michael and Andrea and family being the perfect hosts.

The rooms are modern and well appointed.

One of the best hotels in the world

Small Hotel (total of 11 rooms and 5 suites), privately owned, very friendly service, great food (breakfast, lunch (optional) and 5 course dinner included), private chairs in the garden for the entire stay, sauna. Direct lake access (summer water temperatures up to 25Celsius) with rowboat, stand-up paddle board, etc.,
Conveniently located for excursins in Kärnten, Italy or Slovenia.

A very quiet place, a beautiful piece of nature, huge garden, beutiful and relaxing view to the lake. The owners are extremelly friendly. It is maybe a too quiet place, not for young persons. Ossiacher See is very close and is a very beautiful place. But definitely not for those looking for animated places

Room tip: All rooms are nice, with balcony overseeing the lake

We spent three nights at "Kleines Hotel" at Austrian's lake "Faaker See" and had a really good time as the owners Andrea and Michael did their utmost to make our holiday as special as possible (champagne on arrival, serving coffee and cake under the apple tree in the garden, etc.).
The hotel has 12 rooms (all with a modern design and view onto the lake) in total which makes it an ideal getaway for travellers who appreciate the privacy of a smaller hotel.
The 12,000 m2 big garden including a sauna right at the lake is a great spot to unwind.
In the evenings, a delicious four course meal is served in the dining room or weather permitting on the veranda.
Due to the hotel being relatively small, the owners take the time to talk to their guests and give valuable tips on how to explore the surrounding area.
Thanks again to Andrea and Michael for making our holiday in Austria so special!
