La Petit Fontaine is a gorgeous little restaurant in Collobrieres, in the beautiful Massif des Maures. The owner, Mr Etienne Bouquet, is charming and solicitous, with a true Provencal humour. Eating on the terrace is a delight, but inside is also cosy and charming with a wealth of period detail. The food is nothing less than excellent. The onion tart a dream, and the cheese platter you are presented with is asonishing in it's size and choice! Everything I ate there, on several occasions, was absoloutely delicious. The Dauphinoise potatoes are the stuff of dreams, and don't miss their home made marrons glaces ice cream! Much better than the one they sell in the shop, Azurenne, in the village. And all for 30 Euros!! Cards are not accepted, only cash, and when I asked the way to the bank, to get cash, on my very first visit, they said, "Don't worry, just relax after your meal, and pay us next time you come back!" Which, of course, I did, but you wouldn't find that degree of trust or generosity of spirit in many places. The staff are lovely, and friendly, and the young waiter especially, is charming and helpful, with a constant smile! Highly recommended, it was one of the highlights of my stay in the area.
