“looks lovely, but very small and poor quality apartments”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2010

The apartments look very attractive from the outside, very disappointing on the inside, the build quality is very very poor, the apartments are tiny, there is no aircon and the rooms aren't ventilated, the bathroom had 1 vent which goes through into a bedroom ( mmm nice).
I wouldn't like to stay there in hot summer months. The apt we hired had two bedrooms and advertised for up to 6 people- no chance!!. The rooms had small wardrobes but you couldn't open them properly as the bed stopped them, there was very limited storage for suitcases etc. There was nothing provided not even a loo roll, bedding had to be hired and turned out to be very expensive, mismatching poor quality that looked like some-one had cleared their bedding out at home to use in a holiday let.
There is no where to eat inside so you have to use the outside balcony - not good if the weather isn't fine . You would struggle to self cater as the cooking facility is very basic and there is no room, there is a cooker, hob and sink which are side by side and that's it with no work space.
The location and Corsica itself is great but the Sognu di Rena was poor.

my partner and I visited Corsica as part of a cruise and were very excited to return.
We booked with easyjet to save over £1,000 by travelling with Corsican places, the flight was fine both ways, despite some very relaxed parents, storms, torrential rain and delays.
We got a taxi from the airport, priced by the (very corsican) 'tariff' ..£70 euros.
The resorts bar was open on our arrival, but only served water, fizzy drinks and martini.
We stayed for 2 weeks and only was the bar open another 2 times after this, families with children taking their own water to the pool, no service on the beach at all so be aware.
The hotels on a very busy main road which leads to the village with a few bars and restaurants, nothing to warrant dressing up but certainly to warrant euros on drinks, our drinks were the same usually altho the bills would be different each visit, varying up to 10 euros. guess the bill became a popular game!

The food was average, amazing moules and generous servings but nothing as nice as the food in the larger towns. The bars are all tatty, except one that had been built during our stay, it faces the beach and was clean and new.

The Hotel offers excellent self catering facilties, all cooking equipments, altho the washing mahcine is 5 euros for one wash and another 5 if you require the dryer.
no maid service and only one set of towels for 2 weeks, unless you want to buy extra!
the complex is very echo-ey, if that makes sense, the French are very quiet, as are we, altho when some noisy people turned up it disturbes eveyone, a lot!!!
the bedroom faced the corridor so if anyone walked past the noise is loud, also the bedroom was small and stuffy.

Given the choice this is not a good 'resort' to visit, the other towns are more central and busier, the walk along the main road to get anywhere isn't a pleasant one.

The butchers was excellent although we were charged £11 euros for a slice of quiche, it was lovely but no way worth that price.

The car hire was £400 euros for one week (renault clio) and it is to be returned washed and hoovered, strictly!
Restaurants outside the resort were good, some of the loveliest food was at a northern village which name escapes me, but its north west by a large marina.
Some beautiful beaches are south of the resort but at least an hours drive, perhaps more, for pure sand beaches.

Don't expect smiley service, you won't get it.

Superb apartment complex - Brand new and very clean. Situated on long beach and 5 mins walk into Moriani Plage.
Fantastic central location should you wish to lay on the beach or picnic in the stunning countryside.
Going back again next year. Can't wait!

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2009

I just recently attended a wedding on the island of Corsica last week. Part of my stay was at the condo-type facilities called Sognu di Rena, which is located in Moriani Plage, Village of Felice.
It is a nice facility, decently located near town and on the beach. There is a large pool, well kept grounds and the beach is clean, albeit a bit rocky in spots, bring your water shoes AND your own beach towel(s).

The complaints I have about this place are really service oriented.
The front desk is only available 9a-12p and 4p-7p. If you need anything like bath towels, an iron, hairdryer, directions or any info, better get down there then because that's it for front desk coverage, otherwise it's locked up tight !

The condo units are clean, but you are given NOTHING. Not even a starter role of toilet paper and you have to pay 3 euros for any towels for the week. There are dishes, pots and pans, all adequete. Our unit was near the pool so if peace and quiet is what you like forget it...there are lots of kids yelling and screaming all day long and it echos all around the complex. Just a warning, if you don't have kids or prefer to not be around them.

So any extra towels, like for the beach? There's a charge, so I ended up buying a beach towel at a local Wal-Mart type of place nearby.

There is a supermarket down the street, but unlike in the US, they are closed up early at like 7:30pm. So my advice would be to get there first before hitting the condos (unless it's near to the "closed" times!) to get supplies, food, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee, etc. All units have a small kitchen, t.v. trundle bed couch. All eating is done outside on the balcony, unless you feel like dragging the table inside!

Oh and p.s., no A/C....the weather there is beautiful now (June/July), but I bet August would be really stuffy without it, by the beach or not.

And the Visa card is king on the island...hardly anyone takes Amex.

Go to Porto Vecchieo (sp?) for the day, about an hour and a half drive, a really easy shot to wonderful beaches, shops and restaurants. The beaches are more like the Carribean there than in Moriani.

Take a drive anywhere thru the moutains...the driving is just like here in the US, same side of the road and everything....that makes it much easier when driving thru the moutains, trust me ! Lots of hairpin turns, random gatherings of goats/cows/pigs in the road and not a guardrail anywhere! But it's very cool, very "Old World", very laid back.

I found the people to be lovely,...none of that "French people are rude and hate Americans" bull...I always say, find out for yourself. And you will. Corsica is a lovely, interesting island.
