Camping Le Chaponnet
Reviewed August 15, 2013

We had a week here with our motorhome. Parked up and didn't use it again - cycled all around. Cycle paths in the area are great and there are numerous beaches you can reach within a 10 min cycle. Pitches on the site are close together and quite compact. Grassy and a bit undulating. Facilities were spotless all of the time and the site was full. Very well thought out with huge area for dishwashing, and separate one for clothes. Combinations of cubicles with showers, basins etc. Toilets did have seats on them but remember your own loo roll! Swimming pool was busy and not attended by staff so you rely on parents to look after their own children (enough said!). Our kids (aged 8 &12) loved the outdoor pool - it was heated. Husband made use of the free gym a couple of times. The town has an excellent twice weekly market. Lidl is about 5 mins walk away and really good value. Any noise there was went after about 11pm and it was quiet until after 9am. All in all I would recommend it. Some of the mobile homes were rather crammed together with not much room for sitting outside once a car was parked and the access paths were quite narrow for manoeuvring caravans but we were fine with the motorhome.

Le Chaponnet is a great campsite in a lovely area. The campsite had everything you would need to keep a Surf Family happy. We stayed in a mobile home which was nice, comfortable and clean.
The swimming pools and the playgrounds were perfect for our children aged 5 and 3. The towns nearby were lovely and the beaches were perfect. Plenty of surf nearby but you would need a car. We didn't enjoy the bar and restaurant ot the site were not too inviting. We cooked in the mobile home mostly. The tree top ropes course nearby was a fantastic alternative for a day away from the beach. All in all we had a wonderful time and would go back. We love France and the French way of life. We got to improve our French and meet lots of nice people. the biggest draw back for me was having to clean the mobile home completely before departure!

We have just spent nearly 3 weeks at this lovely campsite. We had a 2-bedroomed cottage home in a good sunny spacious emplacement and took bicycles with us. The 'caravan' was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a self-catering holiday. Jeff and Cheryl, the Quest en France reps on site, were very friendly and helpful and the area, for us, was cycling heaven - with coastal cycle paths, forest trails and lovely inland countryside to explore. There was a street market a couple of times a weeks, Lidl 5 mins walk away and a SuperU 3 km away in the next village. There aren't many places to eat out in Brem but that didn't matter for us as we prefer to buy locally and cook ourselves. The beaches are a good walk over the sand dunes so a car trip would be easier with young children and the site is perfect for them - small and peaceful - it was in September anyway. With the exception of a couple of showery days the weather was great for the entire 19 days but very chilly mornings and evenings started to increase as time went on. But the caravan had a very efficient electric heater which heated the whole place in no time. We most certainly wouldn't hesitate to go back and Howard and Olga at Quest en France were very helpful and efficient at the time of booking also.

We have just returned from 2 weeks here. Awesome! Lovely site, very clean and friendly. We have 4 kids, 14 - 3 years and it catered for all of them.

Brem village is beautiful and untouched. Beach is a good 10 minutes walk away and best to drive, but has free parking. Untouched and very deserted beach most of the time.

Pools were clean, accommodation was clean and tidy, booking was awesome. There is a bakery just outside the site and would recommend using this - bread and cakes are lush!

We are definately going back. If you want a quiet and relaxing holiday - this one is for you.

Spent three weeks here this summer. In general the site is good and well placed and good/safe for the children. My only problem is the bar is run with limited staff who moved around at a snails pace. You have to wait a long time to get served and its almost worth stocking up with a couple of drinks. Today my son waited at the ice cream counter, bar and take away bar and was ignored by everyone, not impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Also when we came down for a meal one night we had to wait about an hour to be acknowledged then they we had one meal as a starter and two as a main(confused.com) think the owners of this campsite could do with a bar manager to run this watering hole efficently or come to England and see how we do it.
NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We returned to this site for a 2nd visit after having a great time in 2010. We met some fantastic British families, who all rebooked again for 2011. As Brem is a lovel quite village it was safe for our young teenagers to walk around outside the site. As there was a large number of Brits spending our evenings together, with our little ones happily playing, we had Security on our case as early as 10pm...for talking!!!. The Brits were all camped in the main roadway through the site, which a minibus and the owner use with no slowing down... We even had a local minibus shoot through the site throwing water out the windows! When we tried to talk to the staff in the bar about our concerns, they made out they couldnt speak English..Although when serving were fluent... The site promotes it is family friendly and lots for families...but to get told off at 10pm for talking and laughing..when the Disco was still booming out..we felt very unreasonable...The management have since refused to accept a booking from us, although we were all going to return for a 3rd year.

Firstly the bad.... the pool is a little small, the food is a little bland and pricey. Staff aree a bit young and running a bar is not their forte. A good bar manager would sort this. But that is me just being picky

The good... excellent owners excellent water slides, great bar/entertainment. Quiet campsite at night, great for a good night sleep after a few glasses of wine. Walk out the front gate and 50 yards you are in the town. Staff are young and friendly and encourage one to speak french but can speakk English. Booked direct and brought our own caravan. Would readily go back.
