This visit to Champagne was by no means our first. This time we were taking a couple of relatives on their first visit. We thought that a visit to Le Phare would be a good introduction to the Champagne and to give them an insight to the intricacies of making the drink. This museum is well worth a visit, even if you have visited the area many times.

We have a hobby of studying Champagne. We went to this small museum and were pleasently suprised how imformative it is. Lots of history, great view from the top of the lighthouse.

This is an absolute must see for the Champagne area visitor. Beautifully located and educational.
The visit of the tower is worthwhile to see the valleys, but the museum tour tells you something more that you will not hear from the local farmers. Well equiped audio support in many languages.

We bought a Champagne wine in Godmé winery and after that we visited a museum in a Phare and climbed for 101 steps in Phare. Museum has common tour. We used EN audio guide. The tour takes about 90 minutes.

This is a quirky location for a very good museum about champagne and its history. Who really cares why it was built in this way: it is a great landmark form the motorway and even more impressive when you park below it. The museum has a great deal to tell you about the region, the history of the area and the making of champagne and it does so without being too solemn or too serious. Sometimes the translation is a bit over the top but we had a good laugh and we learnt a lot. Having put off going to visit for few years this was a perfect place on a cold, damp day: in the summer it would be even better and we will go back again.
