Hotel Palia Don Pedro
Reviewed November 5, 2013

I stayed at the Palia Don Pedro from the 21st October to the 28th October and all I can say it was the best holiday ever.
Please don't listen to the bad reviews. It was one nicest hotels I've ever stopped in.

Room: We had booked a two bedroom apartment but it wasn't ready so we had to stay in a one bedroom for the first night. However it was no problem to us as there was two single beds in the bedroom and two single beds in the living area. Both rooms were spotless and very spacious. Rooms were cleaned everyday and we had fresh towels every other day.

Food: The food was beautiful and that's coming from a very fussy eater. A great variety of food. Never had a bad meal.

Staff: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The animacion team Julie and Laurie were fantastic. The nicest and most friendliest girls you will ever meet. They worked so hard during the day and night. They tried to get to people involved throughout the day with the different activities but were never pushy. They made our holiday.

Location: The hotel is situated in nice but quiet area. The nearest supermarket is about a 5minute walk. The airport, Los Cristianos and Playa De Las Americas is about 15-20minute taxi drive away.

Pool: Nice big pool and always clean. Plenty of sun beds.

You do have to pay €10 for the wristband for each person but you do get it back at the end of the holiday. The safe was €25 for the week but we got €10 back when we checked out.

Travelled with friends and they agree that it was one of nicest hotels they've stopped in and we can't wait to go again. Thank you to everyone at the Palia Don Pedro for such a great holiday.

Sorry, i really can't understand the review below. We stayed here from 21 October til 28 October. Had booked a 2 bed apartment. Got there and it wasn't ready for us but we was given a 1 bed apartment with 2 bed's in the living room just for one night and told we would move the following day, which we did with no issues. Maids brilliant, came and cleaned every day for us. All the staff super friendly. Had to pay €10 deposit for the wristbands which you get back at the end of the week- no problem. Receptionists great help with directions and for you to order taxi's etc.

All Inclusive was excellent. 10:30am-10:30pm it ran. Can't believe people moaning that it finishes at 10:30.. as if 12 hours isn't enough time. Breakfast 8-10am. Lunch 1-3pm and Dinner 7:30-9:30pm. Snacks such as burgers, hot dogs, chips etc available at the bar all day. Drinks were really good measures as well. Food was excellent. Lots of choice. At least 2 meat and 1 fish dishes on offer every single night alongside your usual chips, pasta, salad etc. Wine and Water with meals... so what, you have all day to enjoy your usual soft drinks and beer.

Wasn't overly busy, was always able to get a sun bed, whatever time of day. Really nice big pool.
Animacion team of Julie & Laurie were so good. Tried to get everyone involved without being pushy. Really enjoyed the archery, darts and the other games we got involved in. The evening entertainment was fine as well starting with a kids disco and then the main entertainment followed by music and dancing ( if people were willing enough to get up like us). Julie & Laurie really made the hotel and made our holiday great. A lot of french people there but the French & English people really seemed to get on despite a slight language barrier. The Xesco night was one of the best night's i've ever had. It was hilarious.

Location is good, in a quiet, nice area with some bars and shops around. 15 minute walk to Las Galletas with a pebble beach and main area and then only 15 minutes taxi ride from los cristianos, las americas and the airport.

Room was really good, big size and perfect for our needs. Right by the bar and pool. Was a really great holiday, perfect location, great food & drink, great company, great entertainment, great weather & met some really nice people. Loved it and was so sad at coming home. I want to go back to the Don Pedro but fear it may not be the same again. Seriously, don't let the stupid bad reviews put you off. Its a 3* hotel, not a 5*, you can't expect 5* for what you pay. A tip is to get involved as much as you can, if you do that, i'm certain you will have a great holiday. An absolute gem of a hotel. Don't change Don Pedro, perfect as you are!

I have never written a bad review before and have stayed in lots of three star hotels in the past, and I know that you get what you pay for but what you dont bargain for is.....
1. Only one person serving at the one and only bar up to 10.30pm, then there were 2 as you had to pay for the drinks.
2. The person serving at the bar also had to make fries, burgers, hotdogs and crepes as well as serve on her own. Burgers were disgusting, the meat was a kind of purple colour.
3. Only 1 person in restaurant at any one time, and you had to queue up every meal time when entering the restaurant to give your room number despite wearing an all-inclusive band, as it was open to the general public.
4. Too much veal and rabbit served, catering primarily to French, and the chicken and pork wasn't good. I must say that the roasted pork and crackling served one everning however, was fantastic!
5. You could not take drinks into the restaurant, only water and wine offered, no tea or coffee. Wine was undrinkable, and water upset both mine and my husbands stomach.
6. No AC in room, ceiling fan in lounge no ventilation in bedroom, no portable fans to hire.
7. Residential apartments had dogs, so mess in gardens not pleasant, and we had to complain about all night barking!
There is quite a bit more, but I think this is enough. On the plus side, it was clean and the sunbeds were plentiful. The entertainment team really earned their money and I cannot praise them enough for encouraging people to join in with fun and games. However, If the weather had not been brilliant , I would have wanted to come home early. A tip from me was to go to the small beach about 10-15 walk away, towards Galletas. It is quieter than the hotel and you can snorkel to a long way out. There is also a good bar out of the hotel and turn right about quarter of a mile. It is run by an Englishman who will let you take your own food in and he sells English beer. If you have already booked, as long as the sun shines you will have a good time, but if you are thinking of booking, I would advise you to choose another cheap hotel, it cannot be as bad as this one. The overall impression is that it used to be a self-catering hotel, and they have changed it to primarily All Inclusive, but on a shoe-string.

I spent there one week with my wife in april 2013. Mostly sightseeing with rented car.
Advantages (in my opinion):
The hotel is located in very quiet part of the coast (costa silencio).
Rooms are really spacious with bathrooms, leasure area and sleeping room also equipped with kitchen facilities.
Hotel offers really nice food - if you like seafood - it might be good choice.
There are arranged some activities by the staff both during the day (waterpolo, archery, volleyball) and also some animation in the evening (not so bed).
Middel size pool.
Quite big cliffs next to the hotel to see and photo.
Two grocery shops in appx 200 - 300 meters from the hotel.
Disadvantages:
No walking distance beach (I heard it but we used the car whole week and get to the Las americas beach) - but 200m from the hotel you can catch the bus which takes you to the beach.
In our room there was no aircondition (maybe in other rooms it was different) - only big windmill on the celling, but we realized that it wasn't a problem at all if you closed the window and balcony at the morning.
Not many souvenires spots in the hotel area.

Summarizing I recommend that place rather for those who wan't to sightsee the island, sleep in quite neighbourhood and to teaste some seafood. Good value for the money.

So We got there after a 2hour delay, (due to French air traffic control strike). Short trip from airport to resort. Resort looked run down and shabby.
Walked in the reception area, and My first impression where Omg! I looked at My family and their faces said the same thing! The Guy at the reception told Us in broken English, that We had to put 10euro each down as a deposit ( which in our years of going all inclusive We had never heard of!))where to go for the rooms and food and drinks etc.
We walked through the pool area, and heard the dogs barking, the place seemed very run down. At this point I was panicking because I'd booked this hotel, and the family just trusted Me to do.
We just left the cases and went to the dining room to eat. What a shock We got! A good one!!
They have someone on the door who asks You ,(this person remembers You every time You walk in)Your room numbers and offers You wine or water (no other choice, but this actually suited Us). The restaurant was spotless! The food was beautiful.
This lovely, piping hot food continued through out our whole holiday. Every meals time.It was varied, I'm a vegi who doesn't eat cheese, but I found something everyday. We usually have to eat out, when we are all inc because of My eating habits, but We didn't have to once!
The Staff, where to I start!! Lovely. Everyone had a smile, was polite, they even taught Us Spanish!
I burned My eyes, and every single member of staff asked Me if I was ok, and the next day they did until I came home. They knew what room number We were and what We drank. The plastic glasses were the right size, and any queues were dealt with fast.
The pool and area was spotless, there was a lifeguard on duty everyday. To say the pool was cold is an understatement! But You soon warmed up once You were in. The water was very clean and checked everyday. Plenty of sun beds for everyone.no need to panic reserve them! The sun beds looked newish too.
The bar area was spotless. looked like new furniture there too. Tables and chairs washed every time someone walked away. Staff lovely there.
The People who live on the complex never bothered Us, or anybody We spoke to,they Were friendly enough.let us stroke their dogs. After first hearing the dogs when We came in, We never noticed them barking ,like in other reviews.
Julie and Laurie, the entertainment team. How hard those lasses work. We had a great time with them, they are brill. They asked People to join in, We did and had a fabulous holiday because of them! They are worth every Euro they get paid. Thanks Girls..
The rooms, well it's not The Ritz, BUT I'd say its cleaner than The Ritz! We had room 620, which looked over the back of the complex, by a road, but We never hard any noise. Also NO cockroaches in Our 2 rooms. I would say they were scared to come because of the cleanliness! Cleaner came in everyday with fresh lined and towels..
This actually is probably the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in. It needs a wee bit of a "tart up" but it looks like they are starting it, as there was work going on, painting etc. which was not a problem.
The resort Is very quiet, but the clue is in the name! If You want a sausage egg and chips holiday, go to Blackpool or Benidorm! It was quiet and that's what We wanted..the French stuck together, but joined in, as Us Brits did. Always polite. Made many friends with lovely Families.
Your holiday is how YOU make it. If You want a 5 star hotel, pay the prices and go to them. We couldn't really fault this hotel and hope to go back in May.

We arrived at the Don Pedro on the 12 oct staying for 5 nites all inclusive and we had read the reviews before hand and were surprised that so many had been negative.. it is a bit disappointin havin to pay 10 euros per person for your all inclusive wrist bands if your travelling as a large family it could be quite costly and had we not read about the charge on here first we wouldn't of known or expected it, as its not something ive come across before, but that in all honesty was the only negative.

The complex is a little shabby but it looked like work was being done on some of the apartments, the swimming pool is large and very cold but it is nice to swim in when its very hot. A lifeguard is on duty for most of the day and the pool area very clean and plenty of sunbeds and parasols and no one reserved them which made a nice change.

We read from previous reviews that people live on the complex and yes they do but it certainly didn't create a problem for us and it didn't seem to cause any problems to other people we spoke to.

activities were available throughout the day should you wish to join in, with competitions in shooting, darts, table tennis, chinese pool and other games abd they both girls work very hard trying to keep you entertained. they also provide an evening programme with audience participation should you wish to do so or you can just sit back and relax.

The meals in the restaurant were all cooked well and very tasty and plenty of choice. only water, white wine and red wine available to drink but this wasn't a problem you can drink as much as you like as its all out in carafes' ready for you to pick up on your way in and take to your table.

our apartment was clean and tidy, the beds must of been pretty comfortable cause we slept well and we were tucked away at the far end of the complex so we didn't get disturbed with noise from the bar area.

Staff on the main were very polite and hardworking and yes i would return to this hotel as it was very queit and just the type of break my partner and myself were looking for.

Arrived 10-17October 2013.
Not far away from the airport, we arrived at the reception and you have to pay 10€ deposit per allinclusive band so you dont give them to residents/others, some people on the reception weren't great as they couldnt understand some basic english. Rooms are cleaned everyday with new sheets and towels. The hotel is spotless throughout. The pool is great and clean, they even wore gloves to pour drinks! There is plenty of sun lounges no need to reserve unless you like a certain spot. They have a huge selection of drinks at the bar, they have snacks and icecream on offer. Entertainment is fantasic, for adults and children. Julie and Laurie work very hard to make you happy. They have loads of activities to through the day like archery, aqua gym, braclet making ect and at night. There is a fashion show and you can buy clothes, 2 different jewelry tables you can buy from. (The French man with jewelry are cheap prices and great stuff to take gifts back home rather than a t-towel or fridge magnet.
Food was fantastic! So tasty and a big selection, you can only drink wine or water at dinner (not a problem cause water is good for you) On your last day you need to be out your room by 12(noon) and take your band back by 12 or you dont get your deposit back. If you have a later flight they give you tokens for your meals.I Onestly couldnt fault this hotel, its fantastic for what you pay,if you want 5 star book and pay for one. Best holiday by far.
