Hotel Palia Don Pedro
Reviewed October 24, 2011

My hubby & I came here for our honeymoon.... on arrival we were greeted by a friendly chap, our room was clean and was serviced 3 times during our stay of 7 days. We had all inclusive stay, the food was good, plenty of choice, all the staff we found to be friendly and helpful, entertainment was good although the bar stopped serving at 10.30 this was not a problem as we went down the road to the small bars after this time. We enjoyed it here, it was a budget holiday and we found it good value for what we paid. I would recommend this hotel, there is everything you need in your room/appartment, the whole complex was clean and tidy it is located in a quieter area of Teneriffe but the busses run everyday all day so there is no problem getting around.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the pool area are quieter.

Myself and my boyfriend recently visited here and found it brilliant..... I'm the same with some of the others on here in that i never write reviews on things but in this case i would like to stick up for this hotel. Myself and my boyfriend are both 25 and we found it really good. The food was brilliant for a 2 star hotel. The standard of it was great. Lots to choose from and the staff very freindly. Yes the hotel is in need of modernisation but it it always clean and tidy..... Ive stayed in 5 star plus hotels all over and at each one paying well over £1000 per person but only paying a fraction of this for this holiday i wasnt expecting the ritz....... As for the comments that the maids do not clean your rooms that is absolute rubbish.... Our room was cleaned every day beds made rubbish taken toilet roll stocked up they also closed our curtains to stop the room getting so hot. The towels are changed twice a week as stated on the welcome letter you get but they do say if you WISH to wash them you can use the laundry room. They supply a bin in the bathroom so we used this in the livin room.... A bin is a bin...... The drinks are absolutely fine... we drank ameretto and coke every night and it tasted exactly the same as the make barnd disarranno.... The beer was nice and the wine lovely. Yes you can only have it in small plastic cups but it's all inclusive go up and get some more. The location is fine nothing rough about it. We often strolled out day and night and there is at least 3 supermarkets in all directions of the hotel. We did go into Playa de Las Americas twice for the beach. We got the bus 467 which we got from the main road. It cost us 3.40 euro's for the 2 of us so brilliant. It does take about 30 mins but worth it. Overall a lovely break we really enjoyed ourselves and if your looking for a relaxing CHEAP holiday with good food then here is your answer.

just returned from this hotel after a weeks stay & would not go back, not cos of the hotel it is ok just a tad too quiet & can get a bit boring. they need more staff especially in the bar area as they are not only serving drinks but making bar snacks as well & the queues soon grow also you can only get 2 drinks per person in the tiniest plastic cups so if you are having beer you get even less as half the cup is froth!!! we went in the village most nites as the bar also shut at 10.30pm!! the food was fine a good selection although the beans were always cold at breakfast the rooms are basic but you dont go on holiday to spend your time in your room, there was always plenty of sunbeds at the pool area but some of them are broken, all in all it wasn,t too bad but wouldn,t go back.

Room Tip: don,t have a poolside room apparently they,re very noisy

Spent 11 days there at the end of august and can safely say hand on heart would go back again..the main probelm i would say about the hotel is its understaffed, the amount of work some of these people did was amazing!! the bar could do with at least 3 people there all the time..the other probelm we had was our room faced out from the reception on to the road so it was fairly noisy but we managed to still get sleep and we did leave doors open and never felt unsafe!! the food was edible and drink was ok..the area is quite but thats what we wanted,as for it been in a rough area i went out walking everynite and not one probelm..if you want lots of hassle go to other resorts and if you want 5 star hotels pay 5 star!!! in all its a basic hotel that could do with more staff and the rooms updated but apart from that its ok..I WOULD RATHER BE STUCK THERE THEN MISERABLE ENGLAND!!

One thing I have never and will never be able to understand is people who go on holiday with the wrong mindset - that is, almost wanting to pick faults with the place they go to. My boyfriend and I went away, desperate for a break, and with not an awful lot of money - so chose Palia Don Pedro having read many reviews stating people should "ignore bad reviews". I've never written a review on Trip Advisor before but some of the miserable gets we encountered whilst there and people like Laura F a couple of reviews down have made my blood boil!

How on earth, in a country like Tenerife, can you complain about cockroaches? That's like me staying at a mate's house and leaving a comment card on my way out as I didn't like the look of the spider I saw on the floor. Seriously - what on earth do you expect? Fair enough, cockroaches in the rooms is a bit much - but during the whole holiday, we saw ONE - on the road outside the hotel. Cockroaches in the restaurant? Never heard so much tripe. The restaurant, along with every other part of the hotel we encountered, was cleaned to a high standard. We met other couples who had cockroaches in their rooms also, yet they complained to reception and the issue was sorted.

We arrived in the middle of the night and a friendly and helpful receptionist quickly checked us and and directed us to our rooms. As we were wandering, the security guard came and personally took us to our rooms. This set the tone for the rest of the holiday, as I found the majority of staff to be extremely friendly, helpful, and polite.

Our room was spacious, clean, and the beds were made every single day. The floor of the balcony, too, was swept and cleaned every day. Rubbish left in carrier bags was removed by hotel staff. No doubt Laura F would have moaned had the cleaners thrown away a used make up wipe, so to complain that they didn't throw your rubbish away is a bit much. Put it in a bag rather than strewn on the floor/surfaces, and the cleaners will remove it for you. Yes, it's a bit hot without air conditioning and this is a bit of a let down. Not enough, however, to warrant not booking this place as many rooms have fans.

Food was varied, and of a good selection. I don't see how anyone could go to this hotel and be hungry - if you don't like one item, or several items, there's plenty of bread, salads, etc to fill up on, and there are also snacks at the bar, which are very nice. This resort will not serve sushi - look at the price of it, again, what do you expect?

Drink selection was good. Cup sizes not good - but just keep going back. It's not an issue. Sangria and beer on tap, plenty of spirits, mixers etc. I got pretty merry on more than one occasion, and the drinks tasted nice!

Pool was fab. Clean, spacious, plenty of sunbeds to go round. Get there early and get a good spot - around 8am is a good time if you whack a towel down then go for breakfast, then head to the pool for the day. We loved spending days there just chilling out, napping and jumping in the pool when it got really hot.

Tenerife Sun Bar down the road is brilliant, a good laugh and the owners are lovely. Same with Our Place. We had the best steak of our lives in Bolles restaurant - all these places are literally down the road from the hotel. Walk further, there are two squares in opposite directions which have many bars and more than enough places to eat throughout your holiday if you fancy an evening meal (or the non existent cockroaches in the restaurant put you off, of course).

You HAVE to go to Siam Water Park, if that's your thing - google it, youtube it, the videos speak for themselves. The best day we had in a long time.

All in all, a fantastic holiday, from two people who really needed a break and loved every minute. We went with an open mind and an optimistic outlook, and ended up not wanting to leave. As i sit here with sunburn typing this review, I wish I could go back. Met some lovely people, and would return.

Cannot stress enough - ignore the bad reviews. Some people like to pay for 3* prices and want 5*. Stupidity is cheap.

Dont listen to the bad reviews, the rooms are quite spacious and clean. Staff are great even tho one or two was slightly grumpy. But what do u expect when there are loads of people on holiday enjoying themselves. Met loads of wicked people whilst out their as well as a good few people from my home town.

I personally didnt like the food on offer, but then i am a fussy eater. The size of the cups was to small and i found that you would end up drinkin quicker due to this.

Be careful on the beach tho will your personal items, on the first day we had our wallet taken from the bag whilst on the beach, also heard of quite a few robberys in the area. The staff were quick in getting us new locks and copy safe keys which u cant fault.

Some great bars around even tho that the area is quite quiet but that is sort of self explanitary but its name.

Would attend the hotel again in the future, just need to hit some of the other islands first.

Shout to John the Bar Name, what a legend!
Also big hi to all the people we met out their.
