Apartments Alondras Park
Reviewed December 30, 2010

The apartment was in 2 floors with a small balcon and a fantastic view to Teide. The kitchen small and not very well equiped but all in all a good place to stay. When we asked for something to the apartment, the staff was very helpfull. New towels every other day and the bedlining twice a week.

If, for your holiday, you want a smelly, dirty smoke-ridden apartment with a rusty bath, a shower that can only spray horizontally, a washer in the bathroom, incidentally full of someone else's dirty washing, dirty bed linen and towels, a bathroom door that would not shut at all, wardrobes too dirty to hang your clothes in - we lived out of our suitcase for the week, a water boiler in the bathroom, possibly almost as old as the island itself, towels and bedding not changed for 4 days and bins not emptied for 4 days, electric wiring hanging out of the wall where there should have been a socket., electric cabling festooned around the bathroom wall above the shower, door keys not working properly resulting in us not being able to get into our room at any given time of day and night, then Alondras Park is the place for you....if not, stay well away.

we stayed at alondras park apartments for 1 week.. the apartments were reasonably clean, but the toilet wasnt working when we arrived, up to our apartment was a bit dirty and grubby, unfinished flower beds, old fridges and things were stacked on the grounds. we cant really fault the pool it was nice and clean, i did cut my finger on the ladder one day though! the apartments are not something id reccomend for tourists, we were the only irish there there wasnt even any british. it was full of spanish people! the costa del selencio area IS NOT for people who want shops a beach or night life!!! we got buses and taxis the whole time to los christianos. IF YOUR VISITING SOUTH TENERIFE. - STAY IN LOS CHRISTIANOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After reading some of the reviews especially about the staff our flight was 5hrs late and we did not get there till 1.30am we were greated by a very pleasant young man showed us our appartment asked if we had anything to drink which obviously we didnt but he took me back to reception and gave us 3 large bottles of water which i thought was very kind. Now for the bad bit the first 3 days was spoilt by the private spanish residents who i think had every member of there family over. kids jumping in the pool no regards to anyone else, dog walking round the pool, dogs loose round the pool , music full blast would have been more suited to a 18-21 group the main offenders being the 2 appartments below ours, bbq being lit in pool area in the end we had to ask to be moved, again thankfully the staff were brilliant gave me the keys to 3 appartments to choose which one we wanted and we chose the one furthest away. After this the families seemed to go and we enjoyed the rest of the stay. The appartments are very basic as had been said before in other reviews we had rusty bath, damaged tiles, furniture that came apart when you sat on it, rusty fridge all in all though the size of the appartment was good didnt do any cooking there as i think you would be struggling, overall the appartments need a good overall but were large basic and clean staff excellent,

After reading the bad reports about this hotel was dreading our arrival!!! But on our arrival we were met with friendly staff, on arriving at our appartment found it clean and spacious.. with basic kitchen facilities. The cleaner came in every other day and changed bed linen and towels and cleaned appartment The pool side bar was run by a very friendly couple and had a wide range of food and very good prices.. For the amount of money that is cost to stay there for 10 nights we have no complaints. I am not sure what other people expected who wrote the reviews maybet they thought that they were paying for the ritz!!!! Will be returning there again....

We stayed at the Alondras for one week in May 2010. Ahead of our arrival we already had some idea of what to expect - basic accommodation at a cheap price - as my folks had stayed here for a week in December 2009. They had been pleased with their accommodation, so we don't know whether they were very lucky or we were very unlucky.

Upon arrival the young lady at reception was very pleasant and helpful. We had an apartment on the 3rd floor of block D, so had quite a few steps to climb with our heavy suitcases. Once inside, the main lounge area looked clean and tidy, but the same couldn't be said for the rest of the 1 bedroom apartment.

The kitchen area was basic, as we expected. A 2-ring hob (which worked quite well), kettle, toaster and extremely rusty fridge. All the cupboards and surfaces felt sticky, so as we started to use utensils and cutlery etc. we washed them. The extractor fan had some alarmingly dangerous wires dangling from it, and we couldn't plug in the kettle where you would expect to plug it in, as it wouldn't go into the socket. As for the fridge, it had clearly seen better days, with rust spots over it. What was more worrying were the things crawling over it - tiny ant-like creatures, which came and went throughout our stay. Whatever you do don't leave any food exposed on the sides, as they will get into it (as we discovered).

The bathroom at first glance looked ok. But then we pulled back the shower curtain and saw patches of rust on the bottom of the bath, which the Alondras management have tried to cover up with non-slip starfish. There was also rusty patches along the side of the bath. The toilet seat was also a different colour to the rest of the suite and didn't fit it correctly, as everytime you sat on it, it would fall against your back...something which became very irritating after a few days. When we used the shower the water pressure was poor, so the most we ever managed was a drizzle, which made washing hair a bit of a nightmare.

Moving on to the bedroom, again at first glance it looked clean. However, we were horrified by the lack of cleanliness of the pillows - stains all over them and covers which did not fit (the pillow protruded at each end). My partner wanted to show me the mattresses, but I declined as I didn't want to know exactly what I was sleeping on!

In terms of its facilities, the Alondras has 3 pools and a pool-side bar (JuSi's) which was open from 9am until around 6pm. A lot of people staying at the Alondras had brought their dogs with them, so we were put off swimming in the pool when we saw dogs taking a dip in them, and also by the methodology the staff used to clean them. The restaurant on site (Harvester Grill) was closed during our stay. Given the number of people using laptops in the reception area, I imagine wi-fi is available.

As for Costa del Silencio, we had been to the resort before so knew what to expect, although we were surprised how quiet the resort was considering it was May, and by the number of places closed (or closed down). Our saving grace for food in the evening was the excellent Spanish-run 'Chicken Shack' on the Coral Mar complex. We ate there 3 times and every meal was fantastic and the staff very good. We also tried both Chinese restaurants near El Trebol, which again were good. If you want a good breakfast, we would recommend Stella's on Coral Mar and we also had a good burger at The Avenue next door to Stella's and at Heroes Bar (underneath the Totem Restaurant at El Chapparal).

All-in-all we were very disappointed with the Alondras, even with our low expectations, and wouldn't stay there again or recommend it to friends. It clearly is basic accommodation, but unfortunately the standard of maintenace is well below par.

Got caught up with the volcano incident and was forced to find something cheap. This hotel provided very cheap self catering accomodation in a great location with very good service. As you can imagine we were in a difficult situation having to move from our previous all inclusive four star hotel simply because we did not know when we would get home. We needed to watch the pennies. My partner and I walked to this hotel from Golf Del Sur the day before we moved in to check it out and we found the reception staff really understanding of our situation. When we looked at the reviews on this site we were a little apprehensive but on getting to the room we found it to be quite ok. Yes the bath was in a bit of a bad state and the paintwork in the room a little tired but it was clean and it was big. Lets be realistic, what can you expect for the 15€ per night.

The week we spent here was really enjoyable. The three pools are clean and fresh water not salt. The balcony was in a nice sunny position and roomy. Though single beds they were comfortable. The hot water was very hot though did run out quickly but did not take long to reheat therefore no problem with showering. Not good if you like a nice soak in the bath though.

The staff at this resort are really nice and were understanding of our situation. We managed to get an earlier flight home and when we informed the office they said that our unused nights would be refunded. We did not ask for this and did not expect it either. What a contrast to the attitude of the Aguamarina Golf Hotel.

The area is really nice with plenty of places to eat and drink, local supermarkets and cheap enough booze. Try La Taberna Del Pollo for a really good meal which is very close by. The bus service is excellent and so easy to get to Los Cristianos and to the airport. If you choose this area to stay in be sure to walk/bus into La Galletta. Well worth the time and effort with some nice seafront eating places and shops with something different to find.

Also be sure to walk up the nearby hill and check out the rockpools and lava cliffs below. Be aware that you will find some nudist sunbathers in the area of the lava rocks.

Would we go back to this area? Yes. Would we stay at the same hotel? Yes. In our opinion this is a very nice area, quiet when we were there but so much more going on and things to do than Golf De Sur which is very quiet with little to do.
