The resort is stating to look run down which is a shame as the 2 pools are great, very little going on at the resort (which suited us just fine). Mostly private ownership Spanish we guessed whilst timeshare takes up about 45 apartments. Location very quiet but not far from local shops and bus. Furniture in the apartment all clean and up together however its not the latest thing and is well worn but still functional. No air con only ceiling fans and back and front windows to allow for a through draft.

The staff are fantastic. even though they are unsure about their jobs from 2012 as the timeshare club is shutting down and owners seem to be transferring to other clubs in Tenerife.

Small functional kitchen, microwave, oven hob, washing machine and a very welcome "Welcome pack" of milk, tea, water and coffee on arrival.

As most of the apartments were not in use the pool area was very quiet, finding a sunbed was no problem but finding one that was not broken or very saggy almost impossible.

However a great holiday.

We stayed in RCI apartements 1 week. 2 adults and 1 year old child. All was horrible: rust and dust allover, playground in demolition, pool water cold, electrical wires hanging on.

We stayed in the Timeshare (RCI) appartments.
OK lets get the worst over with, the on site bar/restaurant is closed, and the play area was closed due to tearing of the matting.
There are 4 bars/restaurants just by the main gate, 2 english run, 1 german and 1 belgain. a small (basic) shop for bread, papers etc. The bomb site as refered earlier is just natural landscape with local fauna and flora. A host of restaurants if you go left or right and an excellent bus service, cheap, regular and runs late into the evening. Right enough said.

We arrived 5 hrs before checkin, but our appt was ready for us. not a common occurance.

I could not fault the maintenance of the appartment, clean, well maintained, had everthing we needed and more, the maid service every 2nd/3rd day for change of towels and bedding, we had so many towels we didnt use them all each time, same with the tea towels, there were little things too, washing up liquid, cleaning stuff, airer, iron and board etc. the fridge was on when we arrived with milk and water in it and a selection of tea/coffee all free, it's been a while since i've seen that. Re the NO A/C there are ceiling fans in the lounge and bedroom with various speed settings, and the bedroom has shutters which we locked and left the internal sliding window open, we did not have a problem. We had a ground floor appartment, with a patio big enough for tables, chairs, sun lounger and the washing line with space left for more... .

The boiler in the appt produced loads of hot water and the proper shower and bath was a boon.

Gardens and pool where kept in excellent condition, the mini gardens gave a sense of privicy and the pool area is more than big enough, there are loads of beds and lots of shade, the water and pool clean. i did see 1 cockroach, on its back, the gardener sprays around each morning, when watering the gardens. As you walk out there is a little secluded garden tucked away with a fountain and seating etc, soo tranqueil.

As the majority of the appartments are privately owned, week days it is quite and relaxing, weekends was a little busier but still not 'too' busy or noisy.

Reception - the staff can not do enough for you, the welcome was great, with tips and hints on how to get the best from the area, bus time tables and info about the island. Trips, transfers, taxis, car hire - you name it they will sort it for you. comprehensive borrowing library in various languages and DVDs to rent (cost a pitance). safe keys hired here too.

The area of Costa Silencia borders las Galletes and is mainly residencial, but a short level walk (15/20 mins) away is the harbour, with more resturants, the criss/cross pedestiran area with bars and 'normal' shops not many 'holiday tat' shops here. on the Beach is the fish Market if you fancy cooking your own. There is a club half way between the two off set by the cliffs, there are 2 cliff top walks, one of which will take you to the 'Golf du Sur' area.

If you want night life every 20 mins till gone midnight is the bus to Fanabe/Las Christianos. there are Markets every day somewhere local for a couple of Euros and 30 min bus ride.

Tenerife Sun Club is a small timeshare club with apartments within the Paque Don Jose hotel complex. Sadly the hotel has been closed for a few years now but if you're looking for rest & relaxation then this is the place to go. The timeshare club do a fantastic job of maintaining the large swimming pool, beautiful grounds and all their apartments; frequent maid service with linen and towel changes. N.B. DO TAKE YOUR OWN POOL TOWELS.

My one bed room unit was spacious and more than ample for my solo two week stay. Enough hanging & draw space and even a small safe provided (10Euros a week for a key). The kitchen, with full size cooker, microwave oven, kettle & toaster. All crockery & cutlery & glass ware provided. Lovely lounge with two settees, one converts to a double bed if needed. TV, with English channels, DVD player, and clock radio. The bathroom has an over the bath shower and also a hair dryer. There is a small washing machine; great for washing clothes through if you want to travel light and keep luggage costs down! Nice size private patio area with table, chairs & sun parasol and two sun loungers. Don't forget the sunscreen, first two weeks in April and the average temperature was 24 degrees and a few days up to 28.

The office/reception staff there speak English and are very friendly and so helpful. They can sort car hire out for you, give advice on buses, order taxis and give information on all tourist attractions. DVD's can also be hired and there is loads of free book/magazines can be loaned out as well.

The is a Mini Mart just outside this secure gated complex time share complex, again with the most friendly and helpful staff. Great for your water, fresh baked bread rolls and all your grocery needs. Anything you don't see just ask, like I did and they are only too helpful to get for you from their supplier. Along with the shop there are a couple of restaurants on the road outside the complex, a few bars and the next Hotel, The Phalia Don Pedro. The Don Pedro open to guests where you can enjoy a help yourself buffet style lunch or evening meal, complete with choice of wine and water for 9 Euros; great food and great value.

Don't miss going down into Las Galletas, a delightful fishing village with its lovely harbour, small beach and delightful promanade. There is also a lovely lido with lovely big swimming pool & toddler pool & restaurants. There are banks and lots of shops and restaurants to wonder around. If you're down early enough, before mid-day you'll see the fishermen selling their catch; I can recommend trying the Panga, a lovely chunky white fish.

I felt safe on this holiday, everyone was warm friendly and helpful and I can't wait to go back there again.
