If you are flying to Penang and planing on staying for more than 8 hours, I suggest you book a place on Georgetown or Batu Furengi. The only benefit I see to this hotel is that it is very close to the airport, whereas any hotel in Penang, will take you at least 30 or 40 minutes to get into. Starting with the positive, I can say that the rooms are clean and that if you are a golfer, this hotel has a golf course, other than that, the hotel is a total meh.. The rooms are antiquated, everything reeks of 1980's vintage, the gym sucks thou the pool is nice. Last time I was there they gave me room 666. I am not superstitious but I thought that was interesting.

Dear Spaniardgipsy,

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay with us. We do apologize that some of our facilities did not meet your expectations. We would like to let you know that our Deluxe rooms (the room category you stayed in) are slated to undergo upgrading works, and we hope you will plan a return visit to enjoy the new modern look and facilities. The upgrading works is another investment in our property to enhance guest experience. In the meantime, should your plans bring you back to Penang before then, we do hope you will choose to stay in our totally renovated Premier Room.

Really dispointed. I've got smelly room. Felt cheated. Smell of old furniture or must be the carpet. Wont come here again. Its a nightmare for me and family.
Dont ever ever stay in this hotel. They should put a freshner inside the room. Smell badly.

Stayed for 2 nights at this hotel during the Penang bridge marathon, as it was the official hotel for the event. The location of the hotel is quite near the airport, but still far from the city. The hotel provide shuttle buses to go to the mall (Queensbay), Batu Ferringhi, and Georgetown, but the ride can be very long, depending on traffic.

The hotel room is decent, clean and comfortable. The service however, needs some improvement - slow check-in and check-out.

Thanks to Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM), I got the chance to re-visit Equatorial Hotel after almost 20 years. To my surprise, the scene and facilities were in good maintenance!
It's a very relaxing place for vacation, especially families. The hotel itself might be a bit away from city (but no worries, shuttle service was provided). The basic amenities is fairly satisfying, quiet room and non-smoking policy is enforced (fine will be imposed to any offenders :D),however, a bit disappointed with the waitress service at one of the restaurant. Not to mention, please do visit the pool!

Location pretty good, very quiet and it's a resort style. Was there for two nights recently, However, food was disappointing. Convenient if you have things to do around Bayan Lepas or you need to cross the Penang Bridge to go over to mainland. Rooms are of a decent size but pretty basic.

I stayed only one night there at equitorial. It was really nice. If you are planning to stay only there taking food outside it will be really hard as the city is little far away.but it is the best place to take rest enjoying the nature. The rooms are really spacious pool is really good. Food is fantastic. But really costly one night it comes around 420 ringits. Around 110 euro. Food will be extra. For me breakfast was included in the stay. For travelling out either you can take the shuttle taxi service provided by the hotel or you can hire your own public transport in penang is really pathetic...
