Wonderful food, great choice, and beautiful setting. What more can I say! I would definately recommend this if you are staying at one of the nearby hotels and you want a change for an evening.

Popped into have a coffee and the staff were all so accomodating even for outsiders. Had a lovely coffee sat on the balcony with a great view over the Anse Intendance. Got a couple of homemade biscuits as part of the package. To be honest it was quite reasonably priced for a top of the range hotel. They were so welcoming and was so different to the 4 Seasons Hotel where asa non resident we were not made to feel welcome. The chap at the entrance needs to go back to customer service school. As a poor outsider if I had to choose between the hotels based on our welcome then there is no comparison. Banyan Tree wins hands down

We had dinner at the Saffron restaurant and were disappointed that it didn't match previous visits. We were put outside on a plastic table and chairs that would be great by the poolside but not for an upmarket restaurant as Saffron bills itself to be. A water pump nearby was barely drowned by the sound of waves. The service was uninterested. Our drinks came but it was impossible to catch anyone's anyone's attention for a second round until we waved our hands like mad people. The rice was cold and food uninspiring. Altogether a letdown compared to previous meals which were excellent. The restaurant needs a maitre d'hotel on the floor to keep the service ticking and on its toes.

We stayed at the Banyan Tree Seychelles in March 2014 for four days.

Overall we found the experience excellent.

The Villa on the Rocks that we stayed in was smaller than some Banyan Tree villas, we understood this when we booked so were more than happy. There are larger villas on offer if one needed them.

The villa was extremely well furnished, in typical Banyan Tree style all guest needs were catered for from a lovely selection of toiletries to fluffy towels and pillows. Everything was very modern and clean. Our room number 301 had a to die for view of Intendance Bay which was on its own worth the visit. Picture windows in the lounge and full length window in the shower showed the view off to perfection. The villa also had a small pool and Jacuzzi to relax in.

We did not see any of the other villas but I am sure they were just as nice as ours. My only comment would be that the beach villas are set back a little so there is no real view of the sea which personally I would have wanted. In preference although they are a bit if a hike up the hill I think I would prefer the Intendence Villas simply for the view of the bay.

The bar area and dining facilities were well appointed, stylish and comfy. Drinks a little pricey maybe but no more so than other hotels in the same class. Wine by the bottle started at around £30 (excluding service and tax which combined add 25%). A two course meal will set you back perhaps £60 each – so again pricey but the quality and service was very good. The breakfast selection was perfect with something for everyone with some dishes cooked to order.

The hotel is around thirty minutes from the airport by taxi. The beach was is a lovely half moon shape of white sand. The water can be a little rough so not that great for swimming or snorkelling.

Tiny, tiny niggles, well housekeeping took around four hours to deliver a request to our villa. The walk from the On the Rocks villa to the main hotel could do with some TLC on the verges, perhaps flower boarders or grasses just to jolly along the journey. Nothing life changing that could spoil our stay.

Points that may help with your visit:

• We hired a car for three days which great to see the Mahe and the beautiful beaches. The car higher cost was about 40 Euro a day. The roads a pretty good, they drive on the left

• We drove through Victoria but did not stop – it was busy and the small bit we did see as we drove by looked uninteresting

Congratulations to Frank and his team for a great all round experience. Would we stay again – yes without a second thought!
