“WOW - The location of the suites”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2011

We stayed at the Black Parrot Suites for three nights in early June, we were attending a friend's wedding at another hotel on the other side of Praslin. We were given one of the suites on the corner, which was built into the rocks on the hillside, stunning location, with views over the ocean, it was built in two type tiers, you walk in the suite from the rear, there is a very large bathroom, wet room area. You then then walk a little further from the bathroom and then in the middle of the main bedroom area is a full size bath, just in front of that is the bed, you then go down a couple of steps into a lounge area, on from there are full length windows and doors out onto the balcony with furniture.

This accommodation is part of the Coco De Mer Hotel, just down a small road, closer to the beach, the Coco De Mer was closed for refurbishment, no way did this affect our stay at The Black Parrots Suites. There are 12 suites, children and guests from Coco De Mer are not allowed in this part of the complex.

The staff were excellent, they could not do enough for you!! The food was excellent and wine and drink prices were not as high as we had encountered on La Digue earlier in our stay. The hotel offer a free shuttle bus to the Anse Lazio beach several times a week.

You must visit Anse Lazio beach during your stay on Praslin, it is fantastic, the most stunning location with aqua blue seas. You should also visit the Vallee De Mai nature park and see the famous coco de mer trees.

We stayed in the Black Parrot suites in June 2011 for our wedding and honeymoon and despite the major reconstruction being undertaken at the main hotel this did not detract in any way from what was a fantastic and relaxing holiday. The quality of service and attention detail began as soon as we arrived. We were greeted with cold refreshing towels and a fruit cocktail that was gratefully recieved after a long day of traveling. We stayed in room 511 (one of the lower level suites) which had an amazing view looking out to the Fisherman's wharf and down onto the beach (where we got married). Balcony bathing was only occasionally interupted by the low hum of the ferry to Mahe which made for relaxing evenings watching the fruit bats.

The room was always clean and decorated with fresh hibiscus or other flowers from around the hotel. The towel displays and bed arrangements were a wonderful touch especially the heart shapes done on the bed for our wedding day. The quality of the rooms is excellent, the double bath and shower, super king size bed (we got lost in it!), excellent TV (with plenty of rugby for me and F1 for her) and all the facilities you could need.

The food was excellent every evening as we ate from the a la carte menu. There was always a choice of meat or fish. We would recomend that while staying there choose the fish as this was excellent every night especially the red snapper. At our arrival Richie (the duty manager) asked if we had any dietary requests so they could cater for us on a night. I don't think that this is always the case as we thought we would be eating from the buffet in the main hotel, but with that being closed all catering was done at the Black Parrot instead. When we went out for day trips the packed lunches that were provided were excellent value but limited choice if you do not eat meat.

The beach below our balcony became our beach for the 10 days that we stayed there. The only other people who were on it were the staff clearing the sea weed on a regular basis which should not put you off. sea weed is not on the beach all year round only fior the windy season. Although only small it had the perfect combination of sun, shade and the spectacular Indian Ocean (and Mahe on the odd occasion).

Our wedding day was perfect! Pip organised everything for us from witnesses, hair to making sure that there was no noise from the work going on in the main hotel. We were given seperate rooms to prepare for the ceremony and the beach venue was beautifully decorated with palms, frangipani and white hibiscus flowers. The photographer took over 100 shots and gave us them all on CD as well as 50 prints in an album. On the evening Pip arranged a secluded candle lit area decorated for us to have our first meal together as a married couple which was the icing on the cake of a perfect day.

The hotel offers a free bus to Anse Lazio which is a must one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Cote D'Or is also worth visiting.

The free nature walk is an absolute must and not to be missed. Joseph, the guide, has an extensive knowledge of the wildlife in the Seychelles and is happy to share with you.

Overall the Black Parrot was the perfect place for us and we intened to return within the next few years to celebrate an anniversary. Thank you to Pip, Richie, Joseph and all the staff for making us truly welcome and giving us the perfect start to married life.

We stayed here (5 of us) last June 2010/July 2010. Sorry it's so late. Our friend Lisa flew out a week early to chill and myself, hubby to be, mum and stepdad flew out together.

Amazing from the start. After 22 hours of travelling with Emirates (wouldn't use them again) we arrived to a fruit cocktail and a cold flannel which was a lovely start.
We were greeted by the events organiser, Philip who like us was from Yorkshire so we felt at home in an instant.

If you ever decide to get married abroad, go to this hotel. Within half an hour we had organised the wedding totally stress free and the hard working staff did everything else.

From start to finish, everything was fabulous. Nothing was never too much trouble. The management, staff even to the ground staff couldn't do enough for you. The owners were on site with their wives and children which was lovely as really made it feel like a family chain and not a massive emporium. The beaches and pools were immaculate and the seaweed was a nuisance for them but it was always cleared.

We were staying in Black Parrot as were my parents and Lisa was staying in Coco. All 3 rooms had amazing views. Our room was amazing. We had a bath behind the bed with amazing panoramic views of the ocean and the separate shower bathroom was as big as our lounge at home. There was a separate seating area and balcony also. The two pool areas at coco and black parrot had amazing panoramic views also to die for. The rooms were kept immaculate and thank you Andrew for rescuing me from the big dead spider in my shoe.

The food was never repetative and the choice was immense. High quality food all the way. We stayed on a half board basis and never went hungry. The lunch menu which we ate from a few times with lovely and please try the burgers. Paul and his staff do this hotel justice.

The day before the wedding the boys chartered a boat and went fishing and brought their catch back and the chefs no questions asked cooked it for us.

The day of the wedding we had to hold off time wise as it was raining (weather was perfect barring that) which was quite nice as it was roasting and with a mini meringue it was perfect. The staff were on hand 24/7 and everything was perfect from start to finish. The attention to detail was superb even down to decorating our table on the night and coming back to our room and having petals all over the bed and in the bath with floating candles. You really excelled yourselves and made our day one never to be forgotten.

We didn't feel the need to venture out much but we did go for a few walks and all the locals were very polite and said hello when you were walking past their homes.

Special mention to Alberto, Vania and Eric. Alberto at your age working the hours you do you are a legend. Vania you made our trip so special and Lisa and I have found a supplier of Savannah Dry in the UK. Eric, your cocktails are immense and thank you for making my own versions. I don't know if I am allowed to name you all but you know who you all are by my essay of a comments card.

You all made our wedding, honeymoon, holiday so special not only for myself and Col, but for my mum, stepdad and Lisa. My parents are well travelled and have said they have never been anywhere so special in their lives and we all feel the same.

We will be back hopefully in the next 3-4 years and can't wait to see you all again.

The final perfect touch was when we came to leave and we had a lovely 4x4 to take us back to the airport. I cried when we left I was so gutted to be leaving.

I have probably left a lot out that I should have mentioned but you can get the jist and we will be returning hopefully sooner rather than later. xThis is my second attempt as the first time it crashed.

After we got married on Mahe, we opted to go to another island for our honeymoon. We stayed at the Coco De Mer Hotel in Praslin.

The hotel was really beautiful. The setting supreme with its own private jetty surrounded by fish. Contrary to many travel publications, Praslin is too large to explore by bicycle. Luckily, the Coco De Mer Hotel is right next to a bus stop but you can also rent a car from the reception area through a 3rd party.

The room was more like a small apartment with a beautiful spa bath in the middle of the room. The service was great at this hotel and the restaurant excellent. It is adisable to book on a half board basis to include your dinners as it is more convenient to eat at the hotel at night otherwise you would have to drive for some distance.

The pool is beautilful but there are also walkways to private beaches in the area - heaven!

Absolutely fantastic holiday with some brilliant diving that we had to rent a car to get to the other side of the island for.
The scenery is awesome a trip to La Digue a must. The northern beach area is better for kids i think as the hotel Coco although it says is kid friendly, there is no kids club but more importantly the site is dangerous. Our 5 year old was walking backwards talking to us when we very calmly had to get him to stop walking and come forwards towards us, as he was backing up to an unguarded 15 foot drop onto a path. The rooms are cut into the hill side so the land just drops down onto the paths with no rail or anything.
Leaving the kids thing out, it was a fabulous location and lovely hotel, the food was ok. if not brilliant. But the main point is it's the Seychelles, probably the most beautiful place on earth, so hire a car and explore.

it has taken us a while to write this review, however this awesome hotel and its kind and gentle hospitality will remain in our memories forever.
From the generous welcome - with refreshing cold towels, a nice thirst quencher of a tall drink and warm and friendly smiles of welcome, to a heavy hearted departure, as we did not want to leave this place. The warm hospitality and vibrance of the staff, looking after your every whim, taking care of your daily needs - the cleanliness of our accommodation and each perfect day we spent here, was perfect indeed. Walking into our spacious room, we were amazed to find a beautiful oval bath in the corner of our room, perfect to wash away the heat of the day, the terrace we sat out on - with the view of the sea - was so calming and peaceful. We had hammocks strung on the terrace between the palm trees right in front of our room which was awesome to lie in and read or sleep - directly under the swaying palms that shielded you from the sun. the comfort of the rooms were amazing - much to our expectation and surprise - as we did not expect to have such a large, airy well furnished and appointed room with all the amenities at ones fingertip. the colours of the decoration and style was beautiful in this split level room - all in various shades of blue and blending so nicely together gave us the impression that this was so well thought out - for the comfort of the guests. The simplicity and style matching one another to perfection made our accommodation feel like home.
We were booked on a half board basis which included breakfast and dinner. Dinner was served in their main restaurant every evening and what was so special about this - is that it was varied everyday - with different meals and themes. Most of all, the food was delicious and the kitchen team did their very best to accommodate to our tastes - which if I may add is not easy - as we are fussy diners. The friendliness of the entire team - from Philip, one of the managers - to the big guy Owen at the reception as well as well as lovely Edwina on the bar, so friendly and helpful all the time, really polite and accommodating. Nothing was an effort for them to arrange for us. Our only regret is that we did not stay here longer. The peace and nature of the resort is overwhelming and you really need to pinch yourself to make sure it is real. The evenings are dark and balmy - creating a mood of relaxation and freedom, away from the big city one really feels at peace. The gardens are beautifully lit at night.... in a very subtle Iight making it so romantic.
I believe they will be adding a spa to this hotel in the future and we would certainly like to travel back here one day to experience that. My ultimate favorite was lying snuggled up on a cosy day bed on the Fishermans Jetty - which lies over the ocean, reading a book or just gazing out to sea.
Very conveniently our representative was based at the hotel and she arranged trips to other islands by boat and we even visited La Digue on our own, which the hotel reception booked for us. It was so easy. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus service to one of the most beautiful beaches on Praslin called Anse Lazio - which is awesome and a must to visit.
This hotel is a must to stay in if you are travelling to Praslin, it is so calm, peaceful and friendly that it really makes you want to come back. Even though we have left a while ago, as well as visited other islands and hotels in the Seychelles, the Coco de mer, by far has captured our hearts and the memory of our stay here we have taken with us forever. I have a very strong feeling that we will return here again some day.

We visited Coco de Mer in May 2011. Upon arrival we were greated with an exotic cocktail and Richie ( I am not sure about his position) explained everything to us. Then we checked in to out lovely room. It was clean and comfortable. We had a little balcony too with ocean view. (But I believe all the rooms have ocean view.) The property itself is very nice and we loved to sit on the little beach left from the Fisherman's Wharf and also to be on the Fisherman's Wharf and just look away into the nothing. It's really dark out there, something a city person never sees. The hotel has a small gym, a library as well. Didn't have time for that, but I peeked inside and it seemed they have a big selection of book on different languages (english, german, russian and french at least). They have some hammocks as well and you can take a walk to another beach. Also the hillside is so beautiful. The hotel itself is not so far away from the jetty, 10 minutes and 15 euros usually. The airport is also not too far away. Breakfast is good enough, I loved their coconut spread. Dinner is also good, although the selection is not very big. Staff were all very kind, especially the night receptionist guy, unfortunately I don't know his name. Pool is good, coco de mer shaped, bar serves some basic food, which is also delicious. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and I would come again!

Room Tip: If you stay longer, rent a car (50 euros a day)!
