My husband and I (from New Zealand) were fortunate enough to stay at Maison Vue Des Iles for a week with a group of friends. We all had the best time. The house itself is on a quieter part of the island and you will need a car to get around. The house was beautifully presented and kept in an immaculate condition. There were two decent sized double bedrooms with aircon and another large double bed on the second floor with a fan above the bed (this was more than sufficient to keep us cool at night). The outdoor area had some fabulous hammocks, a large deck, and BBQ area which we made the most of. The views were absolutely incredible - a completely uninhibited view of the sea and smaller islands in the distance. When full tide, you can also go snorkelling at the beach below - this was one of the better areas we ended up snorkelling in during our week in the Seychelles. Finally, we also want to give a special mention to Claudette. Claudette was a fabulous host. She was always available to assist with our questions, make bookings for us (particularly in places that were already booked out!), and a genuinely friendly person. For a small fee, she also picked up our food shopping for us. Thanks for the fantastic stay! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to Praslin.
We have just returned from the vacation in which we spent seven nights in this house. In one word summarizing the experience: amazing. The location, the landscape, the quiet, the fully furnished and compact house, the courteous and quick response of Claudette and Ryan. In short our opinion its worth every penny. highly recommend.
Thank you to Claudette for our wonderful holiday at Maison Vue Des Iles! My husband and I stayed in March with a couple of friends and had the most wonderful time. There's so much to do on the island and Claudette's advice and help to organise ourselves was essential to us getting the most out of our stay. The house itself was clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. I'd recommend having some shopping done in advance - arriving to a full fridge after a long flight was lovely! The house is down a quiet road at with only a few other properties nearby. The road is "rustic" so you'll need a hire car and a reasonably confident driver but the property's seclusion is its key selling point - the perfect peaceful base from which to explore a wonderful island paradise!
We have just arranged to return to Maison vue des Iles in October with friends, having booked a week on a 44ft Catamaran followed by a week at this fabulous place!
Maison vue des Iles is the place to be if you want a totally private, relaxing holiday with a view from the verandah to die for! My wife and I spent most of our recent stay in December just enjoying the view, which includes a stunning little island right in front of the villa, crystal clear water, rolling surf and colors only seen in magazines: glistening white sandy beaches, unbelievably green vegetation and the magical blues of the ocean. Claudette and her team (Ryan and Debbie) made our stay dream-easy, from the beginning of the booking process through to the end of our stay. We were collected at the airport and driven to the villa, the rented car was delivered there, we were shown the property and the normal ins and outs of the various electrical implements (which included dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier) and were helped getting online for our internet addictions. All in all, our weeks' stay there was one of the best breaks of my life and I can recommend this property absolutely wholeheartedly. Thanks so much Claudette - we will cherish these memories and look forward to creating a few more later in the year!
We stayed in Mason Vue des Iles for 5 nights and it was great. The location is very peaceful and quiet, a great place to revitalise from your stressful job and the view is truly stunning.
The villa contains everything you need.
Claudette, the manager, is the most hospitable woman I have ever met. I really love Praslin and can not wait to come back! Definitely stay here again
Our experience with this house is worth mentioning and may help you in your decision process. We wish we had read such reviews, either at homeaway, tripadvisor, or booking, before we booked our stay there for 7 nights.
1) location: while you can swim and snorkel next to the house, the currents can be strong. Be prepared for the jellyfish stings as well.
2) location and driving: the road leading to the house and the private driveway is poorly lit. So it's difficult to leave the house after dark. If you'd like to have a drink at sunset in a bar followed by dinner, the best option is to book a taxi with Ryan, who is very easy to communicate and reliable.
3) bugs: while it's expected to see bugs and insects in tropical places, we believe the owner can improve the situation.
On most nights we ate in because of poor road conditions. Following the owner's instructions, we turned on some lights but not excessively, both inside and outside of the house. But Claudette didn't mention that the ventilation part of the door frames (above the doors) does not have nets. Thus bugs can come in through these areas. It's true that air conditioning would have been the most effective way to keep mosquitoes at bay, she also didn't mention the main house does not have air conditioning except in the two bedrooms (about 13-15 square meter each).
To give an example about the bug situation, we found flies (black fungus gnats) dropping into our wine glasses during meal time.
Since these flies die off the same day, their dead bodies would form a layer of dust on the dining table, the kitchen floor, the living room table and floor, bathroom sinks, and the terrace table. The cleaning staff is only there from 9am or sometimes 13h. So it's quite usual for us to spend an hour mopping the tables and the floors every morning even though the cleaning charges were supposed to be included.
We stayed in other places in the Seychelles after leaving this house. My review of the bug issue is based on a comparison of this house with others. Do check out the Villas de jardin on the mainland. It's a well designed collection of villas, all rooms air conditioned, with a manager who is easy to communicate to. It's not next to a beach but with a horizon pool where you can cool off. No jellyfish and strong currents. It's also approximately hundred euros cheaper (per day rate).
To summarize, while we thank the owner for providing this house to travelers, we believe requiring us to stay there for a minimum of 6 days is not reasonable. Also the per day rate is too high considering the mentioned limitations. (3150 euros per 7 days). The extra bed on the attic is not usable due to the hot air temperature, and the bug situation. The furniture of the house is outdated.
We recommend you to stay there with caution and careful consideration of the tradeoffs (view and quietness vs. value and convenience).
-------- related to communication with Claudette -------------
Claudette, i think you will try to attack my character in your reply. I know how much you hate poor reviews. But i am doing this because of my consideration for other travelers, especially working mothers who value their time and effort. I found you a nice and eager-to-help person, especially before coming to Praslin. But you have a way of making our interaction deteriorate after something goes wrong. Travelers don't seek to make bad reviews. We seek satisfying experiences. When something goes wrong, we need your help even more to solve our problems.
Regarding the incidence you may comment on, I didn't shut you out because i wanted to annoy you. I needed to meditate because the first morning's bug situation was simply overwhelming. Your husband's visit wasn't helpful. He basically told me to deal with it. This is the tropics. After he left, i asked my husband to take the children out so that i can meditate. I am really sorry for that.
Maison Vue des Iles is a beautiful, secluded private house at the quiet end of Praslin Island. It was a real taste of paradise.
The drive from the airport is a bit of an adventure; not for the faint-hearted! The closer you get the more winding the road becomes but it is an incredible drive through the jungle. When you arrive you emerge on the coast overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean. The house is located at the end of its own access road, so is truly private. At night the only noise is the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks below. This was true bliss.
The house itself has two double bedrooms and two bathrooms, with extra sleeping room upstairs. It has a huge sundeck overlooking the sea and a large living area. There is also a fully equipped kitchen. We loved dining out on the balcony overlooking the sea. We saw giant manta rays and dolphins passing by while we were there.
You can drive from the house down to the other end of Praslin to visit a restaurant or to do activities like scuba diving or paddleboarding. The island has some incredible beaches; it is a true island paradise and well worth exploring.
If you want to get away from the large resort type holiday and do your own thing, this is a good place to stay.
