Had a night stay with Captain Carl and his merry band, I live in Panama, my sister and her grandson were visiting. This was the first day of their trip, sadly for us everything we had organised for the following 2 weeks were an anti climax. This trip was simply superb, swimming, kayaking to a waterfall where the 11 year old could leap off the top of the fall into the plunge pool, tour of canal, visit of 2 different types of monkeys onto the boat, night safari saw Cayman, Capibara, listened to the magnificent crescendo of jungle sounds at night. Fishing, out on another tour on a motorized narrow canoe. Some went paddle boarding.

Food very good, comfortable accommodation, remember this is in the middle of a lake, it is 'rustic' but great fun.

Totally recommended

Hi Glenn
I am sorry that the rest of the time in Panama was anti climax, but then again very happy that you had fun at the lodge with all the activities and wildlife spotting.
Until your next visit with family

Captain Carl provides a truly unique experience. The boat ride from Gamboa takes you through Lake Gatun, part of the Panama Canal, with great wildlife viewing. We did a day trip which included lunch and kayaking.

We came to the jungle from El Valle de Anton and what a change it was. The floating lodge is tucked away in the jungle just off the Panama Canal. The rooms are nice sized and are screened opening out to the jungle. You do need to understand there are composting toilets and electricity is supplied by generator that goes out from time to time, but never for long. It is all inclusive, including alcoholic beverages, and plenty of fresh cooked food. There are several adventures to choose from every day. Our favorite was to kayak out of the jungle, past monkey island to the buoys on the Canal where we would hang out and watch the ships pass just 100 yards or so away. Our guides were Paula and Ashleigh and they kept us very busy. There’s also some decent fishing and the launch drivers will clean and cook the fish for you.

Nice job Capt. Karl! You got it going on.

Extremely wel organized: pick up in Panama City, drive to boat and boat tour across Panama Canal. Upon arrival at the floating lodge a tasty lunch was offered and after that a wonderful Kayak trip.
For guest wanting to relax, there are comfortable hammocks where you can relax. At 4pm the day trip guests return to Panama city and the quietness is restored. We stayed the night and had a night river safari and enjoyed the sunset on the top deck. The noises of the jungle are amazing and at sunrise we went for a stand up paddle tour around the waters. we stayed for 24 hours but had the feeling we were gone for a whole week. Thank you captain Carl for a great stay!

Room Tip: any room has a hammock and view over the lake
