“The new top-Dog in town!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

After a terrible experience at the neighbouring restaurant, Brasseriet, on Friday the 14th June, I brought my middle manangement team (4 ladies/girls) to Restaurant Gilleleje Havn on Saturday the 15th June.We were served in the "Kro-stue" ("the Inn-Area; more informal than the restaurant part) because a large party had booked the restaurant for the whole evening. The young girl serving here was quite attentive, polite and a pleasure serving at the table. The food was plenty and my whole plaice with new potatoes received envious looks from my colleagues, commenting that this is the way such a plaice should look, not like the sorry one they had received the day before. Everything was satisfactory. Highly recommendable and reasonably priced: 5 people, main course and dessert (plenty of food), wine and soft drinks total of DKK 1750 including a tip. Definitely worth visiting.

“Expensive Water”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

Went to this Restaurant and ordered a bottle of good wine with our meal. The wine cost DKK 395 (almost USD 70) and asked for some icewater. With or without gas the waitress asked. Just ordination icewater (from the tap) No, she answered, they only served bottled water and as we like to drink water with our meal we also ordered a bottle of water. The water came in a 3/4 litre bottle imported from Italy. This bottle cost DKK 40 (almost USD 7) and this water was not better than water from the tap, which is of very high quality in Denmark.
Serviceminded restaurants normally serve water with yiour wine

“Splendid views, good food, fresh bread to take home”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2012

Usually when in Gilleleje we eat either at home with friends, or at Adamsens fisk (open during summer season, up until late Oct for the small "kiosk". In the winter only the fish shop is open, but what a fish shop!! Don't miss it!) or at Brasseriet. This time Brasseriet was full due to a funeral, so we settled for Krostuen, the "pub-like" part of Gilleleje Havn (the restaurant is open only on weekends for lunch during this time of the year). It became completely full, and we were glad that we had reserved a table. Service was very friendly, we bought some of their home-made rye bread to take home (also had carrot bread) and were able to persuade them to also sell us some pickled fruit that was served along with our herring starters. Both traditional Danish food as well as some modern dishes were available. Started with a crayfish salad and herring, served with their own excellent rye bread and carrot bread. Two of us had beer, from a small brewery and one of us had elderberry soft drink from Bornholm - excellent choice!! After this we had fish&chips, which turned up in brown paper bags, three deep fried fish pieces (big!!) with a crispy but somewhat too thick batter for our liking on top of lots of potatoes, not fries, but fried in a pan along with herbvinegar and a peasalsa (not really mushy peas, but probably inspired by it). This was followed by espresso and one of us also had a really delicious "old-time" Danish apple crumble type. Paid less than 1200 Danish for the three of us, including two rye bread loaves to take home, and fruit pickle. This is somewhere between 3 and 4, but well worth a visit when in Gilleleje!

“Great food with the perfect view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2012

Gilleleje Havn has both a restaurant and a cosy pub. Both have wonderful views of the harbour. We chose the latter last Sunday evening, just as well we made a reservation as the place was full. We have frequented G.H. over the last 20 years and can honestly say we've never had a poor meal. The menu has all the Danish favourites plus a few newer dishes. We chose to start with Vitello Tunato, which was rather a small serving - but the main dishes of mussels and fish and chips were more than generous. House wine at 50kr a glass and waited upon by a single waitress who did the place proud, polite, welcoming and efficient. Don't forget to buy their home-made breads when you leave.
