We visited this restaurant as it was near the turn back point on our walk between the Reculver towers and Birchington,

This was a good decision. The place was bright and airy with excellent views of the sea from our table near the continuous glass windows. The restaurant was busy but not too noisy and the staff had cheerful smiles throughout our visit, which can be rare nowadays.

Service was reasonably quick but not rushed. I hadn't had a pub ploughman's for years, but this establishment's offering looked interesting - homemade duck & chicken liver pate and various homemade pickles, Portions are reasonable and the food is nicely presented without looking pretentious. This was priced at £7 and still less than £10 with a large pepsi. Everything was tasty and well presented.

Perhaps my only slight reservation is that some menu items looked a bit expensive, but then again I thought £7 was fine for the food we ordered.

It was our first visit to The Minnis, a restaurant we have heard of many good reports in the past. As we booked a table for Three this was ready waiting for us.
The food was excellent and well presented, Imaginative and Creative, the staff were efficient and helpful.
Choosing the A La Carte menu was really nice plenty of choice and at reasonable prices.
There was nice background music playing and the restaurant's layout was inviting and colourful,(mood lighting to give it a sense of relaxation).
The only negative point to mention was the approach to restaurant pathway was dark and could have a couple of lights to help people approaching to see better.
Otherwise we all had a great evening meal experience and cannot wait to return.

I've been to the Minnis once before and enjoyed the food, so was expecting to have a good meal when I went again with my family. The service was slow but this could have been forgiven if the meal itself had been good. Unfortunately the meal we had on this occasion means that we won't be returning again. We were a party of seven and four of the meals had to be returned! My meal wasn't one that had to be returned but it wasn't anything special. The waitresses were very pleasant and clearly embarassed about the quality of food we were provided with. The meals that had to be returned weren't charged for on the bill - but we won't be tempted to try eating there again.

Our wedding at the Minnis was totally amazing , weddings are the happiest day of your life , and when you are thanking the waitresses the chefs the bar staff for all the hard work they have put in , you know they enjoy their job , I cannot and will not recommend anywhere else to go - from having a coffee , or bite to eat or even having your wedding there , I am a musician and we play at a lot of weddings and venues , castles , mansions you name it we have been there , but their was no question that our wedding day was going to be at the minnis, I can't thank everyone enough for really creating a extremely memorable day , guests are still telling me how much they loved and were amazed by the food , we had 72 people seated , and every single meal was piping hot and mouth-wateringly good , sooo good!!, crime brûlée was out of this world , evening buffet , like nothing you have seen before , the minnis will now allways be our retreat , so welcoming and calm when you want to chill , but when they have their parties and New Year's Eve celebration , I'm telling you there is no place better , I should no! Thank you again :)

We had eaten before on a couple of occasions at Minnis Bay and found it to be sufficiently above average (but no more than that) to justify going again. We had the most awful experience. It is a very long time since we can remember food being quite so dreadful.
We chose from the House Menu, anticipating as these were dishes of the day, the quality should be without question. We both ordered slow cooked shin of beef with new potatoes and vegetables. The 15 or so minutes wait was not unexpected, because past experience suggested that to be about average, though the restaurant was by no means full. The large bowls, when they arrived, looked attractive and we eagerly looked forward to our meal. Disaster was, however, quickly apparent. It was physically impossible to make any indentation into the meat because it was so tough and unyielding. We were incredibly disappointed and summoned our suprised waitress who took both dishes away. In any restaurant worth it's salt (and anxious to preserve it's reputation) we would have expected the chef to come out of his kitchen like a bullet and apologise, but that did not happen. Instead we were invited to order again from the House Menu which we duly did, choosing Chicken Chasseur on the basis it should not take too long to arrive. In fact nearly 20 minutes was to elapse before the dishes appeared during which time we observed one of the chefs drinking from a mug in the kitchen. Almost unbelievably, this second meal was as bad as the previous one. The chicken pieces were bland and very unlikely to have been free range as advertised. Gravy was thin and equally tasteless with a couple of small pieces of (?) celery constituting the only vegetable save for some over greasy sauteed potatoes. We complained again and called for our bill. We were not charged for our food which is the only response this restaurant apparently felt able to make. Our waitress was clearly embarassed. So ended one of our worst restaurant experiences. On leaving we noticed the party on a table behind us struggling with the shin of beef they had ordered. We know how they felt. Minnis Bay restaurant is not in our opinion worthy of the good reviews it has received and if it continues to serve food as badly cooked to that we were treated it will not be long in existance.
