Stayed here for a wedding reception and was utterly disgusted! The staff were few and far between, and the owners seemed to be running around like headless chickens doing the things they should be paying the staff to do (especially for the price!) My room was not serviced properly i.e. dirty glasses left, no toilet paper, floor dirty. Evening meal was atrocious...cold, hardly any veg and to be honest didn't smell particularly nice! I have stayed in many varieties of accommodation in Cornwall, B&B, self catering and 5 star luxury and the Rose-in-Vale was by far the worst place I have experienced. I don't think the owners know what customer service is, never mind advertising they're good at it!

If this was as stated by this person I am sure that the matters would have been raised with us. No such complaints have been made.

Stayed here for a wedding reception, food was atrocious, cheap and tacky. I had the temerity to ask for two eggs at breakfast, and obviously got the one they save for greedy people it was as large as the plate and looked like an oversized ameoba, disgusting,on complaining just got a smile. Management style would make fawlty proud ,seems to want the hotel but without the guests ,we seemed to be an inconveniance. They need to remember you can fool some of the people all the time but not all the people all the time ,will most definatly not be returning.

Had this person told us at the time that he was unhappy at the size of his egg we would have found him some smaller eggs. I could have asked the farmer to have word with his chickens to ensure that they only lay small eggs but then I guess that some people would complain that their eggs were to small !! We get our lovely fresh free-range Cornish eggs from a local source, who does not grade them like the supermarkets do. If this guest wanted to eat uniformly graded supermarket eggs then we have failed him, for which I am sorry.

It would seem as though both Basil and Sybil are, by accounts from this website, not only alive and well but that they have reproduced in large numbers and now reside at virtually every hotel in England and beyond!!!!!!!. Still it does save people from having to make original objective comments.

So to coin a phrase I would reply by stating that I accept the fact that “we can please some of the people some of the time but we cannot please all of the people all of the time.”

And for those few people that we don’t please there is TRIP ADVISOR.

A great little hotel unfaily treated in some of the reviews. The big selling point for us is the no under 12 year old children policy , that if they stick to it means there is no chance you get someone elses Rufus climbing on the furniture as you try to have a drink. Good food and friendly staff made it a very good stay.

This is a very comfortable hotel with good bedrooms and spacious lounges. It is set in beautiful surroundings with large grounds with a stream running through, peaceful and serene.. There are many good walks around [some down to the sea] so put the car away

Our second stay here - the last one was at Christmas. I am particularly keen on it as my dog is always made welcome and looks on it as a comfortable place too!

The food is exceptionally good and well presented and we looked forward to each meal.

Staff are kind and will go to endless trouble to keep guests happy.

I highly recommend it

Having visited Cornwall many times my daughter announced that she wished to be married there in July 2007 - and was very specific as to the area on the northern coastal area. She went on-line and found the Rose-In-Vale hotel website. It looked great and as a result we subsequently went down to visit. We really liked what we saw and arranged to hold the wedding blessing in the grounds and the reception and wedding breakfast in the hotel.

We had a brilliant time - the setting was just what she wanted, allowing for an outdoor ceremony together with the wedding breakfast on site in the well appointed dining area. The hotel propritors, James and Sara Evans, were very helpful indeed and gave good attention to detail leading up to the event. They had the "can do" attitude throughout which was very helpful. We can honestly say that the whole experience was a pleasure and we would recommend the hotel unreservedly as a beautiful and serene setting for a wedding.
