“Our fourth stay.”

We travel from Australia and have just finished our fourth stay at the Chalet in 10 years. Since our last stay the owners have made improvements including enlarging the bedroom. Jenny and Geoff run a B & B in their home and the Chalet is in a very private part of their large garden. The Chalet is perfect for our needs; it is comfortable and well fitted out and in a beautiful part of Cornwall. From here we are able to drive to all our favourite places and explore new ones. A car is really a necessity though. The local pub, the atmospheric Miners Arms is just a short walk along the road and serves great food. Jenny and Geoff are great hosts and we look forward to our next stay.

“Lovely peaceful chalet in beautiful private garden”
Reviewed August 3, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

My partner and I have return from staying at the chalet, Mellowvean one week ago. The chalet was much better than I expected and the owners Jenny & Geoff made us both feel so welcome and gave us tips of the area too. They couldn't do enough for you but also gave you the privacy too. They run a bed & breakfast within their home and we stayed within the grounds but in their chalet which can be reached by a little pathway to its private gardens. The chalet was very clean. It was wonderful!

There was some milk left for us to make a cuppa in the fridge which I thought was a nice thought especially after our long 6 hour journey. There was tea, coffee and sugar if needed and little things like toilet roll which we replaced but everything was though of to make our stay as easy and as comfortable as possible. The chalet wasfully equipted in my opinion. The chalet was perfect for our stay as gave us the space we needed but we were out every day all day. The local pub which is 5 mins walking distance (take the torch at night) The Miners Arm did very nice food and sold good ales. The staff were also very friendly.

It would be useful having a car as the accommodation is within a small village. We took our bikes and dove to the Camel trail which is a flat off road beautiful path to Padstow. You can also hire bikes at the start of the trial. We visited many beaches including the one at St Agnes which is 2 miles away. They have a nice bar and restaurant called Driftwood spars. There is parking opposite and if you eat there, you can get a voucher from the pub to display in your car so you don't have to pay. (we didn't realise this initially). There is also a very good fish and chip shop next to the pub and you can sit the pub's outside seats to eat this.

We visited Zizzi's in Falmouth which is about 10 miles away. It is by the port which was very nice. We visited St.Ives but as this was very busy, Jenny advised us to go by train from Liskeard. I would advise to go early in the school holidays and be careful of the over flow parking at the station. Its very much park where you can and wouldn't be surprised if cars get knocked there!

Hayle is a much quieter beach and larger and you can drive and park close to it. It was beautiful.

Our favourite beach and town was Looe. I drove there and parked close to the town. There are some quaint tea shops selling the scones. You can buy boat rides from there as you can from Falmouth even though we didn't take one.

We both enjoyed our stay very much at mellowvean and didn't want to leave! We would defiantly stay again if visiting the area without a doubt.
Thank you to Jenny & Geoff for making our holiday so much better and relaxing :)

“Home away from home”
Reviewed October 8, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

A clean and cosy chalet away from hustle bustle of the main town and yet so close to the beach, town centre, which means quiet setting and good night's sleep. Our host were brilliant and went the extra mile to inform and advise. We will return without hesitation and recommend it to our friends with young kids and others.
