After leaving our children with grandparents, my husband and I wanted to get away for the weekend before our next baby arrives in a few weeks. We chose Peppers based on positive reviews and nicely discounted Internet rates. When getting a discount, I often expect to be put in the worst room, but we were thrilled with our lovely room with balcony overlooking the marina and beach. The room was wonderful and comfortable, the pool was warm enough to swim in May weather, the spa was lovely and the food delicious. We enjoyed dinner at Merets on Friday night and went to town for dinner at Zest on sat night. Both were outstanding!
Peppers was the perfect weekend getaway for us and provided all the rest and relaxation we needed.

We have recently stayed at Peppers Anchorage, and can sincerely say after it being almost 10 years since we have had a chance to re-visit, it still hosts all the charm and serenity of a beautiful seaside guesthouse, along with the genuine staff and service who in every detail made our stay truely memorable .
From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and very informative, to dinning in the restaurant where we experienced exquisite tastes in a relaxing enviroment to even the housekeeping staff who were very warm and friendly. The hotel itself still graces all the beautiful features of this wonderful seaside town and has remained a beautiful and tranquil place for rest and rejuvination, whilst still offering enough things to do for our children.

We had an enjoyable stay at Peppers Anchorage recently and cannot wait to return! The hotel staff were so helpful from check in to dining in the restaurant. We had a lovely lunch and dinner at the restaurant with amazing views of the pool and bay.
I highly recommend staying in a loft suite, our room had incredible views and the layout is spacious and unlike any room i have seen before.

Located, directly in front of the marina and 22 mtrs from a small beach. All rooms have water views and the pick of accommodation are the rooms with a balcony. Rooms were clean and well set out except water is only available upstairs so for coffee/tea and any other water requirements its up and down the stairs….Also to note is there is no bar fridge in the room only a small cooler and the rooms are definitely not designed to be self catering in any way. The downstairs area has lounge and table but is quite small, upstairs has bed and bathroom and is far more roomy. Bathroom had a one person spa and I was disappointed to find no guest amenities for the spa bath. I asked housekeeping but nothing was forthcoming.

The actual location is peaceful and quiet; you will need to drive to any other destination as there is nothing really in walking distance. If you dine on site be mindful that the restaurant prices are quite high. Spa and pool are well located in complex and were clean and maintained. Breakfast was included (we had no choice) and was excellent, easily one of the best in house breakfast offerings I have seen.

We were on a girl's weekend; their were many problems.
We were informed at our 2 course dinner party that there were VIP's dining and we needed to be quiet and not disturb them. Aren't all paying patrons VIP's?
A night manager accosted us in the bar after receiving a noise complaint about our room's door being opened and closed "too noisily and too often". After several attempts we could not work out a way to shut the door silently (not that we should have to as paying guests with the right to enter and exit our room at will).
We booked for breakfast for 23 people; when we arrived their were 14 seats allocated to us.
Location is beautiful; pool, spa and sauna were great, food was fairly good. Some staff were helpful. Rooms are big but need an upgrade. No fridge in rooms.
After making these complaints, management is trying to rectify these problems so we'll see! Rachael from Newcastle

We stayed Friday and Saturday nights.
The hotel is located away from town which meant no passing traffic and few people around which we appreciated. It does mean you have to jump in the car if you need anything and don;t want to pay high hotel prices or want a decent swimming beach.
Our room was located in the House, upstairs, while a little difficult to move luggage it offered water and beach views. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and well decorated, the bathroom was clean and in good condition although a little dated.
The plumbing however was very noisy and you could hear water running loudly with every shower or toilet flush. This was annoying when trying to sleep or rest.
The staff were helpful in most cases, although didn't grant my late check out request. (we ended up not requiring it anyway) Staff in the restaurant/breakfast room were always very friendly and polite. The buffet breakfast was generous in it's selection. Dinner in Merets Restaurant was average, parts of the meal were good, tasty and enjoyed other parts were not to my taste and next time we'll probably see what's available in town.
We indulged in high tea, available at any time on request, the sweet treats were delectable, the sandwiches possibly a little fancy for simple tastes. But well presented and good value ($40 for 2 people) The heated pool was entising but the weather didn't present too many opportunities. We were considering bike riding, but at $15 per person per hour and another $5 per hour after that we dicided it was going to become a very exxy bike ride and opted out. We were also disapointed that you had to pay for internet access,
Overall the experience was positive. It's a good hotel for a weekend away, although I possibly wouldn't stay any longer.

After our miserable experience in Canberra, it was a delight to arrive at the Anchorage and feel we had made the right choice. We felt pampered right from the start – this is a lovely spot on Corlette Point incorporated into the marina which you overlook. There is a beautiful clean bay beach on one side and a rocky cove on the other. You can walk along the breakwaters and take gorgeous pictures and simply relax and enjoy the scenery. A truly superb location.

Accommodation: we had a 1 brm loft apartment (upstairs) and I would say spend the money to get one as it is really worth the extra expense. Your loungeroom on the first level is like a normal hotel room (no kitchen) but has a good balcony where you can enjoy the marina views and get some fresh sea air while having a cuppa or a beer. The apartments are grouped into ‘houses’ that are connected by breezeways, so you can walk along undercover all the way to the restaurant. Each ‘house’ is about 10 or so rooms and has its own guest lounge and laundry.

The bedroom upstairs (loft which is really 2nd floor) feels luxurious and modern, and has 2 gable windows so is light and airy. The decor is modern and complements the setting, and the bed was wonderful. Bathroom very nice with a good spa bath. Also very quiet, we had no noise from adjoining rooms or balconies or the marina below. Tiny note: the iPod dock doesn’t take your iPhone. Typical issue but more Apple’s fault than hotel’s.

The resort restaurant served an excellent breakfast which was $25 each with the package, and I think $35 if you are not staying there or don’t choose the package, which is fairly steep considering what it is. Good fruit and cooked array, but order a coffee separately, don’t have the cafe bar stuff if you care about your coffee. No egg station, though, a pity, but good variety of quality foods anyway.

Dinner is in the same spot, but looks very romantic with the pool and marina lights, great atmosphere. Dinner was very good, not top drawer but we both enjoyed our seafood meals and dessert.

Hotel pool is very good but warm as soup in the summer. I preferred the delightful beach close by which was pretty, sparkling clean and more refreshing.

Overall, we loved it and would stay there for longer and explore the bay region more.
