We spent an overnight stay at the Anchorage, after receiving a special offer for a loft suite with separate lounge and upstairs bedroom/bathroom. As mentioned in other reviews, the rooms are a bit tired but we were told that the resort is undergoing a refurbishment since being taken over by new owners. The location is so picturesque with our room overlooking the marina and water. There is a bar and restaurant on site with large common areas and plenty of seating to take in the views. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was excellent with good choice. The resort is an easy 50 minute walk to Nelson Bay, mainly on walking/bike tracks along waterfront and bush which I would recommend you do as the walk in itself is beautiful. After dinner, we caught a taxi back to the resort. I would definitely stay there again and look forward to seeing it refurbished.

Thank you for your review after your recent stay with us.

The walk into Nelson Bay along the water is a fantastic way to see the Port and even better if you are able to enjoy a relaxing dinner at the end of it.

The views we have here are second to none! I am currently looking over the water where there is not a ripple to be seen.

We look forward to welcoming you back!

Kind regards
Kent Warren

We stayed midweek and it was a lovely experience. The room was enormous with a beautiful view over Port Stephens from a small patio. The bathroom needs a bit of updating. There were lots of tradesman around so this is possibly happening. Lovely bar upstairs for a couple of pre-dinner drinks and then downstairs for dinner at Merrett's Restaurant which was excellent. The staff were very attentive and we opted for the fixed price menu which included a bottle of wine. The buffet breakfast had everything you could possibly want. We look forward to a return stay for a wedding next May.

Hi, we look forward to welcoming you back in May next year for the wedding!

We do have some tradesmen here during the week at the moment. They are working on the buildings completing painting and fixing other elements of the property, making it right for Summer.

Having 4 guest houses, we are able to work on one building at a time and not interfere greatly into the guest experience.

Thanks for your review and again we look forward to welcoming you back.

Kind regards
Kent Warren

Loved position and building style. Excellent breakfast buffet then back to the oustanding views from our generous sized room. Bathrooms are a little tired but didn't detract too much from the overall experience.
Highly recommend this facility.

Stayed here with some friends and the building itself is beautiful just needs a bit of TLC - we had a loft room in which the living area was downstairs and the bedroom and bathroom was upstairs. The furniture in both the rooms and the building itself are of a nautical theme and light coloured carpet which is naturally going to show up some spills. The bathroom was adequate but in all the place does need a bit of TLC and still haven't worked out why they had two beds in the hallway. There are little alcove type lounge areas on the floors with lounge seating and are good to meet up with friends to talk or just to escape to for some quite time and it overlooks the water and marina, as did our room. I believe the resort has been taken over and the new owners are already starting the painting etc so I'm sure it will soon be upto the 5 star where it belongs as its in an ideal area, at the end of the street and peaceful and quite. It also has plenty of activities on offer for guests and I would definitely go back there in a few months.

Hi, Thank you taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay with us.

You are right, The Wests Group have recent purchased the property and is looking to complete a full refurbishment. We think the new paint looks fantastic and still retains the understated elegance the property has been able to achieve over the years.

Thank you again and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

My wife, son and I had a great 3 night stay over the school holidays. It was great to wake up to amazing views of the marina and the beach, and the breakfast was very well presented. The staff were generally courteous and efficient both at reception and at the restaurant for breakfast. Our room was clean and very spacious, and the parking was generally readily close to our room except for a very busy Friday evening due to a wedding reception at the time. Our rate included breakfast for 3, and it was well worth it. Bookings for the restaurant is essential. We found the casual eating area near the bar not adequate to our needs for a sit down meal.
Our room was next to the swimming pool and the reception and restaurant area, which was very convenient. The downside was that there was always some intrusive noise in the evening from pool users. The other problem came from smokers who chose the walkway next to our room. This meant we had to keep our doors and windows closed often and relied on the air conditioning.
Our request for a late check out of 11am was coolly declined, so don't bother!
Apart from that, we would definitely return to this hotel for the overall service and great location.

Hi, it great to get away with the family for some time every now and again.

The breakfast is a highlight here and has been for some years. I have passed on your comments to the team.

The weather over the school holidays has been fantastic which has meant that the families have been able to enjoy all of the outdoor activities here at the property.

I have also passed on your comments to the front desk team about your request for a late check out. Whilst not always possible for us to do, there is definitely a friendly way in which this can be conveyed.

Thanks again for your comments.

Kind regards

Wow we were left breathless driving into the hotel complex with stunning views of the lake and the marina. Check in was to standard, rooms were comfortable and accommodating. Room cleanliness was poor to average as my better half noticed a few things in the bathroom. We dinned at merrets their in house option and opted for the 3 course meal special which included a bottle of house white or red. We left happily however the main course was quite small (wagyu rump) dessert was very humble. In summary me and my mrs will be returning sometime and would recommend this place for weekend getaways for couples, families or mature travellers.

Room Tip: Good choice for away from Nelson's bay.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback to us.

The views are stunning and the location on the waterfront is pretty special.

I have passed on your comments regarding the rooms to our housekeeping team to ensure that we work on our consistency.

I have also passed a copy of your feedback to the chef regarding the size of the meals. The usual feedback we have is that 3 courses is very sufficient, however, we also understand that not everyone is the same.

Thanks again for you feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Kind regards

My husband and I stayed there for two nights earlier this week. Everyone from the reservations lady over the phone (Delise), to the ladies on reception (Michelle and Jo), to the bar lady (Laura) seemed happy, were friendly and more than happy to the go the extra mile for us as guests. Our room was very comfortable, spacious and peaceful with a wonderful view on to the water and marina. They even have a pillow menu if you are not happy with the pillows on your bed. The whole place had an elegant, yet unpretentious aura about it - they got it just right! We will definitely be back. (Please shhhhhh - keep the secret to yourselves...)
