We booked to get married at this hotel with our two children in May. The hotel staff are fantastic. Looked after by Maria and Athina (Guest relations). We felt they went that extra mile with us and made the whole experience a memorable one-for all the right reasons. I made the mistake of reading some reviews on this site before I went and consequently worried about it for months before we went. In fact, if I had known it would have been this fantastic I would have looked forward to it a whole lot more! They looked after the wedding arrangements and arranged regular meeting with ourselves and the Thomson wedding coordinator and then checked I every day or so to make sure we had not changed our minds about anything. They chose our wedding music for us as we indicated that we wanted as traditionally Greek wedding as possible ( as we we in Greece) which seemed to make them even more passionate about getting things right for us. They whisked the children off ( age 6 and 7) to make cards and decorations for our wedding car (which we drove up into the mountains after our wedding breakfast, still in our regalia!). The children thought were famous for that day! In the evening there was a Greek theme night on and they announced us and we had a first dance and cut our wedding cake! It seemed they were all our guests! Really fantastic value and service in the restaurant was second to none. We will definitely return when we can afford it. having said that, I wouldn't want to book anywhere else just yet as I cannot imagine it even comparing. Please done take any notice of negative wedding reviews. I would recommend this 100%. Huge thanks again to Maria-her attention and friendliness made our day so special.

We spent 14 days at this hotel in July of 2012, myself, my wife and our two children aged 4 and 2.

After a lengthy bus ride into the hotel there is a scramble for the reception staff to allocate rooms. The reception staff is not what I would call friendly, let alone what one would expect from a 5-star resort. Based on their attitude and level of cooperation I would rate this as your average 3-star hotel. We were not given an option of upgrading our room on the same day (more on that later) or given any information on how the hotel works, about breakfast/lunch/dinner times, etc. They did give us a map, however. We had to figure the rest out on our own and we ended up finding out the most from the restaurant staff.

As we had booked with a travel agency that only had standard rooms on offer we found that upgrading to anything better directly with the hotel would have cost us more than the whole trip together. Generally speaking anything outside of what the package offered (food, drink, etc) was what I would call daylight robbery. As far as I can tell this opinion is confirmed by most other people reporting on the cost of the hotel's food & beverages. For those who are on a HB or FB deal its better to just go across the street to the supermarket for water and nibblies such a chips or light beers and soft drinks - about half price when compared with the hotel's own minimart.

Our room was small and dark and overlooked the entrance to the hotel. The wardrobe had shelves missing. Our air conditioning stopped working twice. The electricity in the room went out once. In all of these cases the maintenance staff did manage to fix them quickly, but this kind of thing should not happen in a 5-star hotel. Due to the central air-conditioning, the room tended to get very hot, and it didn't help that housekeeping would turn the A/C off whenever they entered. The room was poorly cleaned and we had to specifically ask for the rubbish to be taken out on two occasions.

As a child friendly hotel the choice of food for kids was rather limited. There is only one buffet restaurant where the only real option was spaghetti, which our kids ended up eating two weeks straight. Needless to say they have been off spaghetti ever since. The kids club does offer something the hotel calls the "Tasty Corner" but its not exactly what I would want my kids to eat. So the main restaurant was the only real choice.

Getting food in the buffet restaurant at dinner time was sometimes comical as guests would fight over the last piece of steak or fish. The hotel does do a very good job of replenishing so we tended to just wait those few minutes to have some freshly cooked food rather than scramble for leftovers. The staff in general in the restaurant were friendly, which is more than can be said about the majority of the guests who were less than pleased to see small children in the restaurant. The same guests were obviously "new money" Europeans and came to dinner decked out in the nines. I suppose there is always a type of vacationer that would prefer to not see or hear kids while away from home, as can be seen from some of the comments below.

By far the best member of staff at the hotel was Dorina who went out of her way to make our stay (during breakfast and dinner) a special one. She was also the one who let us know how to go about ordering a lunch bag for our excursions (as we got bored of the hotel and ended up renting a car to go and explore).

On the way in for dinner a photographer is lying in wait to take "memorable holiday snaps" of the guests coming in - with either the elevator or staircase as a backdrop. This was very irritating, but we figured out a way to avoid them harrassing us after the first two nights.

We chose this hotel as it was one of the few in Crete that seemed to have a beach that wouldn't be covered in rocks and was listed as being child friendly. Unfortunately it turned out the beach in front of the main building is quite rocky, but behind the sea view bungalows the beach is more sandy and there are patches where the kids can build sandcastles and walk barefoot.

The pools are good but overcrowded so the saltwater pool (the main one) is where we spent most of our pool time. Of course, as with any other mass market gargantuan resort there are guests that "reserve" the sunchairs before sunrise and the staff doesn't seem to do anything about this, which is a shame.

The kids club was entirely in Russian with a Lux-tours group that was in French - we didn't leave our English speaking daughter with them and preferred to spend the time together as a family. Animation at the hotel is very low key, which is good as we didn't come there to hear the latest summer hits and dance the macarena. If you don't want to take part then there is noone nagging you to join. I did enjoy a game of water polo on two of the afternoons, which was quite fun.

This was our first package holiday and I doubt we will ever try it again. We did enjoy our drives out of the hotel to Knossos and Elafonisi. We ended up going there three days in a row! In summary we wouldn't recommend the hotel and certainly won't be going back. Crete, however, was lovely and would recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of sun in the mediterranean.

Room Tip: Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade! But already with the tour operator, not at the hotel!

My husband, myself got married here in sept 2012 (along with our 2 year old daughter) even though I read some shocking reviews i was determined to get married here.
It was fantastic, the hotel and Athena (guest relations) could not do enough for us. There were no hidden costs, everything we were told would happen did. Our guest stayed elsewhere( our choice) and we purchased all day all inclusive passes for them.
The ceremony took place outside the small church on the hotel grounds and was decorated beautifully.
Our wedding meal took place in the al a carte resturant and the food was amazing, the captain was amazing and be warned he will make sre you eat drink and enjoy!!!

The hotel it selef is set in beautiful grounds surrounded with the aroma of the flowers in the gardens.

We stayed in a bungalow which was spacious and very clean, the ladies did a superb job of cleaning up after us!!! LOL.

To make it brief - all staff are freindly and very helpful , the food is fab, the main pool is actually not cold which makes a change from pools abroad. The hotel is fab and i would go there again and again!!!

Room Tip: choose a bungalow with or without pool - worth it nice gardens to sit and relax in while your tots a...

We were very impressed with our 7 night stay at this hotel. All the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and full of smiles. Yes the rooms are dated but this didn't put us off, we didn't come here to sit in our room all day. All the amenities you need are in the room. Sea view is a must! The beach was lovely but the sand gets very rough near the water, so I bought some coral shoes which helped a lot. As we visited in the height of summer it was very busy in the hotel, therefore meal times were quite hectic. But the food was lovely and plenty on offer each day for lunch and dinner. I get annoyed reading reviews by other people moaning there is no chips at lunch. You are abroad....try something different. The varieties of food were vast, there was something for everyone. I saw many children eating salad, meat and vegetables...so I feel sorry for parents who feel they had nothing to feed their children because there was no chips. My only gripe regarding food would be the disgusting manners of other guests. I witnessed people handling food then putting it back, and a child slurping from a ladle and putting it back in a pot ...being overlooked by the father I may add and he seemed ok with this!! Surely more staff around to monitor the food! Overall a lovely hotel with lovely staff. We walked to the local town twice which is definately worth a visit!

Room - perfect ..
Food - very good ..
Service - excellent ..

The problem is the this resort.. is quite far away from the Rethimno City .. more than 5 km .. you could go there with the bus .. or in morning with a bus form hotel..
In Adellanos Cambos.. you don`t have many point of entertainment .. just some bar - disco.. restaurant and a lots of shops .. This is definitely a family resort .. not for friends and having fun .

Room Tip: Take a sea view room .. you will pay some extra money .. but there is no comparation term !

We stayed in May 2012. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. My Wife has mobility problems and wanted too go into the sea this was mentioned to the Thomson rep.The next day a member of staff informed us the wooden path on the beach had been extended to reach the sea so we could get the wheelchair right by the sea.We had a wonderful holiday everything was just perfect and we are going to book again for 2013. What more can we say.
