This was my second vacation at this hotel and I must say that Creta Star upgraded since 2015. Especially food.

I remember that two years ago I said that left-overs were unaesthetically formed into salads. This year it changed and all the food looked and tested excellent. What I liked the most was labels for vegetarian meals. So if you're vegetarian, you don't have to ask staff if this meal contains meat, you just see that it's suitable for a vegetarian. Thank you Creta Star for that!

What I didn't like was smoking guests. Some of them were smoking in the garden all the time and didn't care about other guests on a sunbed that was 1m away from them. What I could suggest for next season is a section in the garden for smokers. Let them sit there and smoke all the time without disturbing other guests.
Oh, and a labels on a corridors "please close your rooms silently". Lot of guests didn't care that other guests may be sleeping and slam the doors.

Except that everything was perfect. Staff was very helpful. For example I had problems with AC and fridge. They fixed AC in few hours and I got new fridge because mine stopped to work. Ah, and as a recurring guest I received Cretan wine, soft drinks, fruits and sweets :) Which was very nice and kind.

Room service was perfect. I always had clean sheets and towels and always had shampoo and shower gel. About the rooms, this year I has South-faced room which was good because it was in constant shadow. But I could hear cars. It's not super loud but it's a bit disturbing. So keep in mind that if you wish shadow, you will get a bit of street noise. On the 1st and 2nd floor the balcony is not enclosed, so you can see your guests. If you want to have enclosed balcon take 3rd floor and above.

Thank you Creta Star staff for a great vacation this year!

Room tip: 1st and 2nd floor the balcony is not enclosed, take 3rd flood and above to have some privacy. South side is a bit loud because of cars

This was our first visit to Crete and were extremely impressed with the Creta Star Hotel. From the moment we arrived all the staff were friendly and could not do enough for us. All hotel areas were kept clean and the food was varied and hot with show cooking every day. If you are looking for a relaxing break in quiet environment then this hotel is perfect and we felt extremely well looked after our entire stay and will look forward to returning.

Room tip: 3rd floor sea view room has excellent views of mountain and sea

Hotel very clean but not 4 star. 4 friends and none of us were fond on the food. The friendly helpful and cheery staff were lovely. When I was AI in Cuba everyone seemed to be carrying a thermos mug for water which was a great idea as it saved on plastic cups. My mug was frowned upon and was told not allowed (though they did fill it) which I thought was silly as it's saving on pollution of plastic cups. Saving the hotel money and the environment if more people used the flasks. Have never paid for a sunbed when AI though I did read on reviews after about taxes.

Room tip: Make sure its not a promotion room you could be facing a concrete roof and staff quarters with absolutely no view.

Dear tizzieScotland,

Thank you for choosing our Creta Star Hotel for your vacations.
Our staff strives to welcome each guest with the AegeanStar spirit and assist in any way possible to ensure everyone has a pleasant stay.
The big number of repeated guests from different countries proves the excellent quality of service, location and culinary delights.
We kindly inform you that our hotel offers a wide variety of a 14 days menu with many different theme nights as Greek, fish nights, Italian, Asian etc. Regarding Greek cuisine, every morning (for which we were awarded) and every evening there is a special corner in the Greek restaurant with Cretan and Greek specialties.
We kindly inform you that due to health & safety standards 22000/HACCP refilling with bottles or thermos of the guests is not allowed.
Concerning the additional fee for the use of sunbeds and umbrellas happens at the beach. We wish to inform you that we pay taxes to the municipality for its use. In all catalogs and websites is written that the sun loungers and parasols are charged extra because the beach belongs to the municipality. Also, the sunbeds and parasols by the pool are for free, which are plenty.
Thank you again for your visit. We will be glad to see you again among our guests, on your next visit to Crete.
With our best regards,
Guest Relations Department

Yes! Yes! Yes! Hard to believe that we are back again at Creta Star for the third time?!
But…. some bargains just cannot be ignored! Tired, worn out and in need of some time out in April, this is an ideal hotel for and individual, friends, couple or a family. All are well catered for at the Creta Star!
All of the staff we encounter are very friendly, and laid back, but professional in their work. No decaf coffee available as we arrived late one night for an evening meal, staff took a personal interest and sorted the issue! Food is generally excellent, and overall facilities are extensive and very good – this hotel is big accommodating over 600 guests. Rooms are cleaned daily and excellent cleaning staff tidy the room too - as necessary.
The hotel is sited just a few miles east of Rythemno and is ideally positioned to get about and see the island. This time our flight arrived after 9pm and we had to go with another car hire provider. The Auto Europe web site makes it clear which providers stay open late and have sales counters /offices at Chania Airport. We booked with Budget Hire on this occasion but we were surprised to discover Avis and Budget shared the same space and we ended up with a virtually new Avis hire car at a very reasonable cost. We arrived very late at the hotel – 11am, but the hotel provided us with a nice meal and drinks. Parking is available on site at the Creta Star and a ‘man at the gatehouse’ ensures safety of vehicles etc. Roads in Crete are generally fine and a hire car is a must to see the many attractions and save money. (coach trips can be expensive!). Do be aware that speed cameras are present on major roads and the traffic police are very active too!
This year we visited the volcanic island of Santorini for a one night stay over. A web booked Hellenic Seaways super fast ferry from Iraclion, Crete (parking available at the port) provided the excellent transfer to the spectacular caldera. The ferry takes about 1.45hrs to the island, and more than adequate food and refreshments are available on board. Santorini accommodation was arranged with bookings.com.
Amazing deals can be had at the Creta Star but it is nothing less than a luxury hotel, a hotel with lots of great features: three lifts to each floor, disabled facilities, a life guard on the private beach, beautiful gardens, 24hr helpful reception staff, case weighing machines, nightly professional entertainment, sight seeing tours, food and drink always available, an indoor pool, porters to help with your cases, when it swarm optionalotdoor dining etc,etc......
You will love it!

Dear Member EBGB,
Thank you for your welcoming and well detailed review.
We take great pride in offering memorable experiences complete with top notch service from our colleagues and it is a pleasure to know that we achieve our goal.
The exquisite gastronomy is very important to us because we want to spoil our guests with culinary delights. Your praise makes us proud.
Also, the town of Rethymno is 12 km far; the bus runs every half an hour till late at night and the bus stop is exactly in front of our hotel. In addition, the closest small town is in a distance of 6 km is named Platanias and there the guests have the possibility to find discos, bar, shops of different kinds and also many taverns. Moreover, around our hotel and in a distance of 700m some taverns exist, two bars and super markets.
We look forward to welcoming you once again in our property.

With our best regards,
Guest Relations Department
