“Fantastic”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

We came back on saturday 1st September from two fantastic weeks stay at the Creta Royal, lovely sea view room, fabulous food, service from all the staff was excellent. especially Katerina at the poolside bar during the day and Katerina and Manolis in the main bar at night. The BBQ theme nights were very good in the pool area. met some really nice people from various european countries who were also impressed with the hotel and the facilities.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

Just returned from 2 week holiday at Creta Royal - wonderful! Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Wide choice of tasty meals served buffet style. Weekly poolside BBQ not to be missed. Wonderfully relaxing salt water swimming pool with poolside bar and super views over the bay from beach bar. All areas of the hotel spotlessly clean. Hotel a bit isolated but bus stops outside hotel every half hour - a bargain at only 1.6 euros to Rethymnon 12km away. Couple of local supermarkets within 5 minutes walk for souvenirs, etc. Would recommend all inclusive deal. We booked with Jet 2 and their rep met with us on our first morning - she was very helpful and gave us lots of information about local trips. Creta Royal is a quiet and relaxing hotel but evening entertainment was on offer next door at the Creta Star, a more lively hotel.

Room Tip: If views are important, ask for sea view room when booking - mountain view room doesn't have a m...

We stayed here for the past three nights , whilst checking in we were advised about where to eat breakfast and dinner and that's it . We had no idea whatsoever about what was offered where anything was etc . The gardens on the premises are nice that's about as far as it goes . Food has a large selection but everything is tasteless . We booked a month ago as a couple and where given a room with two single beds that could not be pushed together . There is major sewerage smells all over the premises especially in the lifts I did notice on one occasion someone had sprayed freshener in there but shortly after it smelt just as bad . The rooms where clean but not worth the expense because the sea view is not technically a sea view but a building view with a sea glimpse . I would not ever stay here again for the reason of not being shown around , advised where anything is or at least given a map or something . This is not a five star as their is no service to the patrons that stay there. The service is very very poor ! ! We actually felt uncomfortable like we were not wanted on the premises . On the last day of our stay we received a letter from the company that owns the place stating if we need anything to make us more comfortable to contact the person on the letter ... Funny it was just before check out . After the buffet on the last nights stay we went for a coffee at the restaurant down by the sea side which we stumbled on by accident thinking it was part of the other motel next door and where advised that we could have had dinner their whilst staying on the premises free of charge . Funny it was advised on our last night This is definitely not a five star establishment so do not be fooled and do not go here if you expect 5 star like we did. Their is nothing royal about this place . We were ripped off ! Really bad service

Room Tip: If you do choose to stay here their is no point getting a sea view room because its a building view...

We recently had a week stay here with Jet2 all inclusive. The first room we were given was supposed to have a view of the mountain - all we could see was a wall, however the staff were excellent and gave us another room the following morning. All in the hotel was clean the staff were excellent and very friendly. The breakfast and lunch were good but the dinner left us a little let down. The same food was on pretty much every night with a few variations if only they changed the menu more then we would have been happier. That aside the only other let down was that the hotel is very isolated. All in all I would say it is very relaxing but the food was the only let down for the five star rating.

We have just returned from a break at the Creta Royal and we had a wonderful time. We booked through Jet 2 holidays. We were the only English couple in the hotel so please bare in mind when booking this hotel. The hotel is spotless and right on the sea front. Staff are excellent, very smart and well mannered. The Manager makes many appearances throughout the day and always takes the time to say hello. The food is good with plenty of choice. We did not have a Jet 2 rep at the hotel and no information re excursions therefore we went next door to the sister hotel Creta Star and found an English rep from a different tour company who very kindly booked us on the jeep safari tour. This trip was excellent. It was an 8 seater jeep and the driver drove very carefully therefore we could enjoy the fantastic scenery and would highly recommend this excursion.

There is a local bus you can catch into the main town right outside the hotel.

We had a lovely room with a sea view and on our last day we requested a late check out which cost us 8 euros an hour.

If you are looking for a holiday with plenty of nightlife then this is not the hotel for you. There is some entertainment in the Creta Star next door. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of this area and hotel and would certainly recommend to anyone who is looking for a peaceful relaxing break.

Having never written a report before, I had to start as I thought Creta Royal was 5*. Great people great service, great food. Make sure you go all inclusive as there is not a lot of places around to eat. Hire a car before you arrive don't get transfers its cheaper & you can get around easier. Just have to get use to how they drive ( as they overtake anywhere). Cretians are lovely people especially if you are English.

This hotel, has never been, nor never will be a 5 star.

We booked a double with Garden View, and put in a twin, when we went back to reception we were told that Greek double beds are not big enough for 2 adults! When we laughed and said we wanted what we had booked we were told that the hotel was full... it wasn't, they just closed down parts of it as it was the end of the season.

We moved the next day, to a double room, with no view! and a standard double bed. Plenty of room for 2 adults!

Air con only worked during the day, was boiling at night times
Only one plug socket
Holes in the sheets, which weren't changed in a 6 nights
Breakfast - wow, left a lot to be desired, and evening meal, not impressive, and everything was tasteless, completely bland, and lacking any imagination
Towels perfect size for children
Beach - hotel beach and had to pay 3 Euros for the privilege
Pools, salt water and so heavy with chemicals you couldn't enjoy it
The noise that came from the bins being emptied at 7:30 (outside our room) was enough to wake the dead
Housekeeping, making massive amounts of noise from 8am, and if the do not disturb sign isn't on your door, you will get woken up!
It's great for couples over 50, as that's the youngest age group, not 30's!!
Late check out, 8 Euros an hour, even out of season, and after a room mix up!

Good bus stop outside to get to the town

The staff are OK, nothing spectacular

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel!
