We ate here 3 times - it was one of only 2 tavernas within walking distance. The quality of food and service is very inconsistent, ranging from good to disgusting. I think you take pot luck if you eat here. You could have a good experience or it could be awful. The first time, we waited for 40 minutes to be served but the food was OK. The second time the service was quicker and the food was better. I had the beef stifado which was very nice. Tender meat and piping hot. So we decided to go there again. Big mistake. The 3rd time we waited for 50 minutes to be served. By this time it was 10 o'clock and so a bit late to just leave to go somewhere else. When we spoke to the waiter who said it was our own fault for arriving at a busy time! When the food arrived, it was very disappointing. My husband had the stifado which had been lovely on a previous visit. About half of the meat was big chunks of gristle and it was cold. We complained to the waiter who just shrugged. I had minced lamb and beef kebab with chips. IT was more or less cold. Had we been at home, we would have sent it back or left - we certainly wouldn't have paid for it. But by this time it was late and we were starving and the waiter wasn't really bothered what we thought anyway. We wouldn't eat here again.

Having read reviews we were looking forward to our meal at Bloumosifis but it ended up a huge disappointment. Firstly we ordered 4 drinks but the waiter only brought 3, when we pointed this out he brought another (wrong drink) plonked it down and scuttled away before we could tell him it wasn't what we ordered....not a good start. We ordered 4 main courses, one was brought to the table after 10 minutes but there was no sign of the other 3, 20 minutes later the other 3 dishes were brought, the waiter looked puzzled but no explanation was given. The quality of the food was ok but nothing special. After we finished eating we waited 30 minutes the table was not cleared so I asked for the bill, we then waited another 30 minutes and I asked for the bill again it was finally bought 10 minutes later. We left the money on the table and left. The taverna was very busy but I don't think this is a valid reason for the poor service we received. There seemed to be several "regulars" or friends who received much better service, needless to say we did not return. The prices were reasonable but the most expensive we encountered during our holiday.

This was one of the best tavernas we visited during our stay in western Crete - lovely outdoor setting in a pretty, traditional village, and very good food.

We ate here 2 times during our round trip of Crete. The best thing about this restaurant is the atmosphere, you sit outside in a big garden, there are many other people (it is a popular restaurant) and one of our dinners we had an accordeon player for extra ambiance. The food is ok, it's not very good, but it isn't bad either. We did enjoy it especialy the vegetarian food from the oven (moussaka and bureka) and the tuna soufflaki. Also had some beef which was a bit dry. The free raki and watermelon (which seems to be customary all around Crete) is always nice. The restaurant is good value for money, would consider returning here for the ambiance.
