The place is beautiful and peaceful, just outside a small village with a nice beach. The suite we had was superb, on two floors with 3 balconies. When we weren't in the pool, we spent most of the time on the upper south-facing balcony, so that we always had the sun on us. It's right in the centre of the island so it's a good base if you want to explore. As it was we only made one excursion, to the petrified forest at Sigri, on the Western end of the island. The staff arranged a taxi for us and were very helpful and friendly. The pool is lovely and is kept clean. We had to keep an eye out for the occasional wasp but that was all. There is a bar by the pool and they can add drinks and snacks to your bill so you don't need to take cash down by the pool. It wasn't too busy either, even at the beginning of August, which was one of the main reasons we chose the island in the first place. The beach was quiet, maybe 15 other people on the whole beach apart from us. The sea was like a warm bath, lovely to swim in. The village was friendly as well, with a couple of nice little cafes.
The spiral stairs in the suite were a bit tight, especially when carrying a big suitcase. If you happen to be of larger proportions, consider a different room. There was a saucepan but no frying pan in the kitchen area, though I'm sure had we asked, one could have been provided. Breakfast was nothing special and we didn't try eating anything else there except the snacks by the pool.

Room Tip: We had the junior suite, which is on two floors. At €90 a night it was good value, overlooking the p...

We had a great 2 weeks in Skala Kallonis, the Imerti Hotel is in a great spot about ten minutes stroll from the square and the beach. The rooms are really nicely finished, comfy with a decent bathroom for Greece. The 'self catering' facilities are not great-the fridge is good for drinks but we didn't cook at all as there was just a tiny plug-in hob and toaster. This hotel's downfall is the pool area, the pool itself is lovely, but the hard plastic loungers actually left me bruised and the umbrellas just take off in the wind and are quite dangerous!!!

The hotel doesn't match the promotional video, which makes it look far bigger than it is. We were quite pleased about this. We were based in the new block.
The room was spotless, but only the size of a travelodge room. This was not really suitable for a self catering apartment for 4. There was a double cupboard, fridge, sink (no draining board) and one electric ring and only 1 saucepan, which had to be used for everything including boiling water. There wasn't even enough cutlery, cups or a bottle opener in the room initially, although these were readily supplied when requested, as were 2 extra chairs for the balcony. We managed to self cater through salads and bread, but it was limited. Fine for breakfast, but not really main meals. I thought 6 euros a night for air conditioning was a bit much, so we did without and kept windows open which was fine. The room was thoroughly cleaned daily, and sheets and towels changed every 2 days. The bathroom was modern and clean, but the shower had to be hand held unless you knelt down or only wanted to wash below your waist! We also had a flat screen TV with BBC world service on it - good for keeping up with the olympics!
The family which ran the hotel were really friendly and helpful, the pool was lovely, and usually quiet, we often had it to ourselves, which the children loved. The pool bar supplied drinks, ice creams and a limited range of snacks.
The bakery 5 minutes down the road was great for fresh bread for breakfast and snacks for picnics. Mini market about a 5 minute walk, then tavernas and the beach.
We did have several power cuts, but these affected the whole island, so we could hardly blame the hotel. There was a wedding 1 night which didn't start until 10pm and went on until after 3 am. We requested free air conditioning for this night as the speakers were 12 foot from our balcony, so we couldn't leave windows open.
Skala Kalloni is a quiet low key resort. Plenty of tavernas and quiet cafe bars. The sea is not as clear as other places on the island, but warm and shallow - great for kids. The beach bars have sun beds which you can use for free, but are obviously wexpected to buy a drink or snack, but they don't hassle you in anyway. We liked Del Blue.
We hired a car for 8 days, and would have got bored if we hadn't done this. Molivos is delightful as was Skala Skymania and its nearby blue flag beach. No trips are on offer from the resort, so you do have to do things yourself.
Overall we loved the low key, 'Greekness' of the resort and the island, the hotel would have been great if we had expected room only, but the room was too small and facilities too limited to really be classed as self catering for 4. This is an issue I will raise with Thomas Cook as their brochure is deceptive. For the price we should have got a 1 bedroom apartment, which was an option in another resort.

We've been travelling to Greece for years and are very used to 'traditional Greek accommodation' (where the shower floods the bathroom, there's very little storage and basic furniture etc). However when we booked this holiday through Thomas Cook we were really looking forward to some luxury ... Thomas cook website billed these apartments as 'superior' and the imerti website has a video and photos of an amazing more luxurious hotel.

What neither tell you is there is a new block and an old block; yes from what we heard the new block was lovely with power showers, flat screen TV's and very spacious (what we were expecting). But the old block where we stayed for two weeks you couldn't really swing a cat in the room, the shower was a basic hand held one with the traditional style curtain that doesn't fit and it floods the whole bathroom, the TV was a tiny old style one stuck really high up and there was nowhere to sit other then on the bed (the photos of the rooms online show a sofa).

The other reviews on here talk about spotlessly clean rooms I am afraid I have to disagree (again maybe this differs between blocks as we noticed the maids washing the balcony floors on the new block this was never done on the old block). All that seemed to happen was the bins were emptied and some new bedding showed up (this was left folded up on the stripped bed and we had to make it ourselves). Our ashtray on the balcony was left we had to empty this ourselves, I took to clearing my own hair off the floor (I have long hair and it can get everywhere) though whilst rubbing my hands along the floor they came away black with dirt, we did our own washing up and tidying .... It wasn't much of a holiday in that sense.

The hotel itself well we have stayed in worse but we wouldn't return to the Imerti; the family who run it don't seem very interested in there guests, there is no lunch menu or snack bar (so you really do have to self cater or go out... there is a lovely bakery down the road great for rolls and pastries), breakfast costs 6 euros per person for a very basic continental (not worth it), we had numerous power cuts whilst there (which also meant all the water shut off) the owners weren't very helpful when this happened blaiming the mains supply however it was a result of their dodgy wiring as some rooms had power some didn't ... This happened whilst I was in the shower one evening I had to wash the shampoo out of my hair in the sink with bottled water.

There is a lovely bar and seating area in/by the reception building but this is never used (only for breakfast) .. the only bar is the pool bar which is really badly stocked (one type of beer, white wine, some soft drinks, three different spirits all in small quantities one day they ran out of bottled water). The pool is tiny! Do not (as we were) be fooled by the photos in the brochure/online, the pool area and the pool are also full of wasps (which the owners don't seemed worried about), there are also lots of flies (in the pool area and the hotel - but the hotel does back on to a sheep farm and you can smell 'that farm smell' on a hot day), there is by no means enough sunbeds to go around all the people who stay at the hotel and the owners allow their family and other local Greek people to use this pool ... this we found a bit cheeky as paying guests as it takes up sunbeds and the pool is so small (also some days as a guest you almost felt in the way like you had gate crashed a family event). Talking of which one night we stayed there they had a christening party for a local family taking place and that took over the pool area and the bar (guests weren't invited). We also didn't find the pool very clean there was dirt and dead bugs in it and the second week we were there the filter seemed to stop mid-week and never restarted. There is a jacuzzi (didn't look very clean either) but if you want to sit in it that'll be 5 euros per person for 30 mins. We recommend going to the beach ... if you go straight down to the village square turn right not the first set of sunbeds you get to but the second is run by a British couple and they are lovely! 6 euros a day gets you two sunbeds, an umbrella, a table (none of these around the pool at the hotel) and a cold box to put your drinks in.

Skala Kalloni is lovely with some great restaurants (Ambrosia, Terra e Mare, Paradise to name a few), lovely bars, shallow sandy beach, great people and don't be put off by the stray cats and dogs (we were a little when we read all the reviews of the area) ... they are really friendly we always gave them the left overs of any meal and filled up there water bowl left outside the mini market.

We hired a car through Dimitri and went round most of the island we would definitely recommend Molovos (great castle) and Agiassos (gorgeous mountain village with a stunning church, locally made ceramics and food ... the baklava was amazing!). Sigri was nice but small and we didn't bother with the petrified forest as it was between 47 to 50 degrees whilst we were out there (heat wave).

In conclusion we would definitely return to Lesvos and stay in Skala Kalloni but not at the Imerti.

We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Imerti Hotel Skala Kalloni Lesvos. This was a perfect holiday and the hotel was a lovely family run complex. Very friendly and could not do enough for you. Very clean and recently refurbished rooms to a very high standard. The hotel is in a perfect location, approx 15 min walk from lovely beach which has very shallow waters ideal for children. Approx 10 min walk from harbour front with lovely friendly and very reasonably priced tavernas. Recommend the Akti Bar for drinks and snacks and Sampos, Dyonisis and Ambrosia (by the church)Tavernas. A must for all greek lovers! Will definetely go back soon!

The hotel is run by a lovely family, very friendly and accomodating. The rooms are cleaned every day and clean towels and sheets every other day. The resort is spotless, with a nice pool (cleaned every day) and area with sun beds. The hotel is situated near to the main square and is a short walk to the shops and beach. If you don't come here to visit then you are missing out on a real treat. My only regret was coming home!!

Room Tip: Go for room 117/118 nice balcony and over looks the pool.
