“Great property”

This was the second hotel I stayed at during my trip, but my first time at this location. I moved hotels as I was travelling alone and wanted something closer to Skala Kalloni. Every morning, I got up and walked to the port. Every early evening I went to one of the bars at the port, I recommend Sugar Bay or Del Blue, to enjoy a beer and get on the free Wi-Fi. I loved the location for its ease to walk around. I enjoyed the comfort of the beds, great lighting in the rooms which I did not have at the other property. Wonderful buffet breakfast every morning. Staff was very friendly. Only one morning the maid service came super early, but a quick mention to the attendant at the front desk and that didnt happen again. My only complaint would be that the hotel didnt have WiFi in the rooms. I would have to go out on my deck to pick up a signal from the neighboring hotels, and then I got eaten alive by mosquitoes as a consequence. They do offer a computer in the lobby which was very helpful, and overall a fantastic stay. I think it would have been enhanced by having the Wifi in the rooms, but there is plenty of Wifi around the island, so if you are not obsessed as I am about staying connected, its not a big deal. I'd like to come back here with my husband for our next stay, you wont be disappointed.

We have never ever been back to the same place more than once. Well, this hotel has changed all that. We have now been back 3 times and still love this hotel, the people who run it and the island and are now planning our return next year (yes, there really is that much to see on the island, from petrified trees, castles, ancient ruins, traditional villages to feeding the turtles, driving off road to find World War tanks and olive oil museums). The standard of everything at the Aeolian Gaea is wonderful and extremely high. The rooms are very private and quiet and kept extremely clean, with all the accompaniments anyone needs; a fridge, kettle, cooking facilities, a proper bathroom (with shower curtain), balcony, air conditioning, tv and space. The pool area is clean and with plenty of space and sun loungers for all the guests, plus cold water is brought to the guests throughout the day. Wifi is offered here too. There is a bar where you can get drinks all day, and through the night, and a menu for snacks and meals. Sometimes special dishes are offered in the evening, quality Greek food grown at the family farm and prepared by Mama. The management is very professional and offer help and support when it is needed, and can even arrange car hire. We came back with a suitcase full of the produce made on site, or close by (!) such as olive oil, soaps, olive paste and marmalade, wonderful!

We can't wait to come back again!

Room Tip: All rooms are great, there is plenty of space in a studio for a couple.

Long time devotee of this beautiful hotel. Family owned, it offers impeccable rooms that feel like home (only, so much more relaxed!) and an amazing pool no one seems to be able to get enough of! The owners are extremely friendly and eager to help plan daily excursions around the island so you don't miss out on anything while in Lesvos. The hotel is located in the center of the island so it provides an ideal base for small trips to the surrounding villages. The hotel offers an indulgent breakfast complete with delicious home-made loukoumades (traditional fried puff pastry with honey and cinnamon) and home-made marmalade. Also available are numerous lunch and dinner items, prepared daily under the guidance of Mrs. Gianna, all delectable and made of the freshest ingredients.
Last but not least, the poolside bar is the perfect spot to enjoy a night-time cocktail (expertly prepared by the proprietors) and get to know people from all over the world.
This is by far the friendliest, most relaxing hotel out there and it was the highlight of yet another summer for me!!

Long time member of Tripadvisor, but have never written a review as yet. This hotel deserves one.

It is one of the friendliest hotels we have stayed in. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. We had a studio, with adequate facilities to cook a meal. The bathroom had a jacuzzi bath. We had a small balcony to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. The pool was great, and unasked for cold water was offered every time we took a spot on the sun loungers.

The breakfast was tasty every morning with a good selection of delicious home baked items. We did not try dinner, as we either cooked or went the very short distance to Skala Kalloni where there was a selection of restaurants, tavernas etc all offering great Greek food. The hotel is also more or less in the centre of the island so is ideally placed for exploring the rest of the island.

The hotel is in a quiet location and we left wishing we were staying for longer, and feeling more relaxed and destressed than we had in a long time. Stay here!

The family business is managed by an elderly couple and their two efficient adult sons. In the lobby they process the fresh mountain tea, oregano and various herbs with which they make their own olive oil soaps on sale at the hotel. Outside they dry tomatoes on a bed of sea salt under a gauze for dinner but we never had dinner there as the posted menu only showed snack-like items, no fish, which we had come to Mitilini for.
We had rented a spacious studio in one of the quiet buildings away from the swimming pool and enjoyed the quiet of the hotel 5 minutes from the pleasant resort of Skala Kallonis, our favourite place on the island with Eressos.
Parking is very easy although the walk back from the parking to the studio is done in the dark due to the absence of outside lighting.
The studio was spacious but without any decoration whatsoever. It had a large balcony but only uncomfortable metal chairs to sit on.
The beds were good but the kitchenette has a ridiculous 4 plates and only one glass! Impossible to cook or eat anything there.
Plenty of closet space and a safe.
International channels on the TV set, working air conditioning and efficiently and meticulously cleaned rooms every day would have made this a pleasant stay if we had not been promised WIFI in order to be able to continue working. Instead we had cable Internet for only one computer and Wifi in the lobby.
Breakfast was good and fresh although a bit repetitive: we missed fresh orange juice but loved the Greek yogurt!
The place is family-friendly without any noisy entertaining at night, which we loved.
All in all a good stay if only this friendly family invested a bit more of their profits (105 euros per night for the "studio", which is pretty expensive for Greece) into the comforts of their guests.

Room Tip: Choose room away from the swimming pool and enjoy the peace of the place.

I stay at different hotels almost 8 months in a year for work. So i guess i have a good understanding of them. So to speak, Aeolian Gaea hotel is definitely one of my best hotel experiences. We booked for a family suite because i wanted space. When i entered the room, i immediately found out i have made the best choice. Family suite consists two seperate rooms, one with two beds and one with a bed and a sofa. Room with the sofa has a small kitchen, with almost everything you need to cook and clean; plates, spoons, forks and pots, toasters and an oven. There's also a small fridge. Each room has seperate bathrooms, tv's and A/C. But i think the best part was the balcony. There's a big balcony which can be accessed through both rooms, including two small tables and four chairs.

Hotel is very near to the beach, you can easily walk to it. But it also has a nice swimming pool. Breakfasts and service generally was perfect. Everybody was smiling and helping.

Lastly, we went there by car, and to find to hotel you can use the directions in the website of hotel. Instructions are extremely clear we found it in darkness.

I love holidays for resting in a quiet and non-stressfull environments, when we stayed there for a day, i became sure that i finally found the perfect place, and i am definitely considering going there every year, whenever i find an opportunity.

We picked Aeolian Gaea initially as we needed its central position in order to access all parts of the island within an hour or so, but when we arrived, we saw how much more this hotel has to offer. Its success is not only due to its spacious rooms, public spaces. enormous pool, lovely gardens, fantastic breakfasts with eggs from happy hens and home made jams and preserves, but the warm welcome from all the Theodorou family members. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. Nothing was too much trouble, there was always time for a chat, information re routes was readily at hand , and we enjoyed lots of laughs. We loved the times when not bird watching, being lazy around the pool, complete with complimentary iced water and access to the poolside bar. Watching the swallows who nest quietly on the eaves of the hotel. skimming the pool at quiet times. either to drink or just to cool off , was something special to see. The pool was just the right temperature and spotlessly clean.
Because the hotel is on the outer edge of Skala Kallonis, the area is very peaceful with no traffic noise etc. We ate out at Skala,( walking distance if you like, but easy to park up if driving) where there is a good choice of eating places. We ate far too much breakfast at the hotel, which included eggs in various forms, bacon, cheeses, cold meats, super fresh bread, cereals, yoghurts. home made jams , honey, choices of drinks. all you could eat really and served from 7.30 to 10 .30, ideal both for early birders to be out early and come back in time to eat. or for the sleepy souls who just want a lie-in.Sitting in sun or shade while eating breakfast outdoors was a treat, after our foul winter!
Our main feeling however, is that the welcoming character of this very special family is what makes this hotel so unique. We are not hotel people generally, having been put off by the restrictions or just plain unfriendliness of staff but this hotel shows how it should be done. Others have mentioned the spotless rooms and public areas, and we would agree. The Studio room, and Family Suite which we used, were spacious , with balconies overlooking pool and garden. and having the mini kitchen is a plus for those who like to self cater.
All in all, we cannot recommend Aeolian Gaea highly enough. For birders seeking flexibility of breakfasts. or families wanting a toddler pool as well as a super large pool, but most of all, for those who want to feel totally at ease while on holiday, this is the place! Thank you to the family for making this such a splendid week!
