“Lovely apartment, great location, amazing hosts”

Firstly Maria and Stella are brilliant hosts and will ensure you have a great holiday. The booking process with them was very easy, they responded to messages in a matter of hours and gave us loads of helpful information. They were kind enough to book a taxi from the airport and it all worked like a dream.

The apartment is about a 25 minute drive from Corfu airport and Maria met us at the end of the road and took us on the short, 2 minute walk to the apartment. On the way we met her sister Stella and both showed us the apartment. The apartment is on a little road that vehicles can't get down so it makes the location very peaceful.

It's a small but brilliant apartment and was perfect for myself and my partner. There is a kitchen, bathroom and enormous bedroom. But the best was saved until last with the amazing, and huge, balcony that gives stunning views over the beach and sea without being looked over by other apartments. Rather unexpectedly Maria and Stella had left for us a box of goodies to get our holiday off to a great start, which included a bottle of white wine, breadsticks, digestive biscuits, coffee and mints. Wifi is also included and the signal is very strong. The apartment is exceptionally clean, with it being cleaned pretty much every other day.

On the balcony you have a large table and four comfortable but lightweight chairs and two sunbeds, however these are permanently flat, with no option to raise or recline and as there are no cushions, they are not comfortable and we only used them once. If these could have been upgraded we would have used the balcony even more. However the pictures don't do the balcony justice, it is fantastic!

The bedroom was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable, not too hard, not too soft. There is a choice of air conditioning or as there are bug screens over the doors and windows, you can choose to leave these open and listen to the sea. There are bar/tavernas either side of the apartment but you cannot hear these and we had 7 very peaceful, tranquil nights. There is sizeable wardrobe but not cupboards and there is a TV on a bookcase containing a few local guides to Corfu and books left by other guests - great if you run out of reading material.

The kitchen was functional but also quite small. Because of this we didn't eat in the apartment very much in the evening as there is little room to prepare food. The kitchen contains a fridge freezer and a small oven/grill with a stove, a kettle and coffee machine are also provided. Cutlery and cooking wise, there are saucepans, frying pans, sieves, tin openers, corkscrews and graters provided, as well as mugs, glasses and knives, forks and spoons. What I felt it did lack were tea towels, and also an oven glove as taking things out of the oven/grill was somewhat interesting!

The bathroom was fine, a very good shower with plenty of hot water, a sink (beware the taps can be a bit powerful!), a towel rail and cupboard, and toilet. Like much of Greece, you aren't able to flush loo paper away but a bit is provided and this was emptied every other day. Towels were changed every other day.

We wanted a quiet, relaxing holiday to escape the pressures of London life and this apartment provided exactly that. The location is perfect, situated right on the beach, with bars/restaurants with exceptional food on either side. In Agios Gordios itself, there are 5/6 small supermarkets within a 5 minute walk accompanied by a number of bars and restaurants on the main street. It is very quiet place but you will not go hungry, and some restaurants are of tremendous quality (I will write separate reviews of these).

You don't need a car to stay here. We took the local bus to Corfu town, which you can pick up from the main street in Agios Gordios and costs €5 return, and goes at various times of day in season. We also walked to the nearby village of Pentati which hosts a bar, Angela's, with magnificent views of the Agios Gordios coastline. It was a 2km walk across the headland (not for the faint hearted) or 3km by road (recommended).

The apartment was extremely well priced with the balcony alone worth the money. Maria and Stella are hosts who will do anything for you. They even gave us a little parting gift that takes pride of place in our kitchen at home! I wanted to leave this review to thank Maria and Stella, but wanted to keep this a secret as I'd love to stay again. Thank you so much for helping us have a brilliant holiday. Hopefully see you again soon!

“Small apartment with lovely view of the sea”

Location was superb as the beach & restaurants were minutes away. The balcony was huge and it was wonderful watching the sunsets. Everything was comfortable but none of the crockery matched nor did the cutlery! It seemed strange that this was not addressed in such an idyllic setting. However, our host did organise taxis from & to the airport and this was appreciated.

“Best holiday ever!”

We stumbled upon this apartment a few months ago and booked based on the excellent reviews.

We were certainly not disappointed. The apartment is totally beautiful with spectacular views. The veranda is large and benefits from a simply beautiful view of the bay.

There is very easy access to the beach where you can stay all day on sunbeds from one of the excellent tavernas.

The shops in the village are well stocked and very reasonably priced. We normally go for an all-inclusive holiday, so we're pleasantly surprised at the excellent value.

Lastly, but certainly not least, Maria and Stella are excellent hosts who keep the place immaculately and change sheets and clean regularly during our stay. They are both delightful, hardworking women who do all they can for a perfect stay.

We will most certainly return and will recommend to all our friends and family!

“Fabulous holiday”
Reviewed June 25, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Our first rental holiday in Agios Gordios, wow what a great location, close to all the beach tavernas and only a couple of minutes from the back entrance into the village. What can I say about Mariastella, run by two lovely ladies (Maria & Stella) who make you feel at ease from the minute you arrive, the apartment was immaculately clean with towels & bed linen changed every 2/3 days.
there are stunning views from the balcony where you can sit & watch the beautiful sunsets every night if you wish.
So thank you Maria & Stella for your apartment, we had a wonderful holiday and will see you again next year,

“The location couldn't have been any better for us”
Reviewed June 1, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

The drive from the airport took us only 25 minutes, but the first thing to note is that parking for Mariastella 6 is 400m uphill from the apartment. Stella had provided us with directions to the car park, and even came to meet us at the car park to help carry our cases to the apartment. The fact that cars or bikes can't get near to the apartment is actually bonus, and it makes the location so peaceful.

First impressions were good. As we entered there was a table with a welcome bottle of wine and a variety of complimentary snacks. Walking throught the bedroom the feature french windows openned on to a massive private balcony with ample sun & shade areas, and a stunning view over Agios Gordios beach.

The chairs and table on the balcony were comfortable and useful, but we never used to 2 sunbeds as they were the perfmanently flat unpadded plastic types. We felt it wouldn't be a massive investment to get a couple of sunbeds of the type all the beach bars favoured, and this would have meant that we would have enjoyed the balcony even more.

The bedroom was spacious and the massive bed was comfortable. The only problem that we found with it was that because the be was so big the bottom sheet was just too small, so this rucked up regularly and spoiled the quality of sleep. The room had air conditioning, but we didn't use this as we prefered to hear the sea though the screen at night. The only other niggle with the bedroom was a lack storage space for clothes. We resolved this by moving some of the bric a brac off the existing shelving, but a second simple storage unit (pehaps in the place of the pink light up daisy!!!) would have been nice.

The kitchen was functional, the high point of which was a very large and modern fridge freezer. The small oven/grill and rings were fine for breakfast, but another electrical point is needed as you have to unplug the oven to put on the kettle. There were ample pots & pans for what we needed, but none of the cutlery matched, and it would have been nice to have had a pair of mugs that went together (but that is probably my OCD kicking in). It wouldn't have hurt to provide a tea towel and oven mit for use either, but these can be bought locally and taken home as souveniers if it bothers you so much.

The bathroom is typically Greek, but there is a stool you can sit on in the shower stall. Common to the rest of the island there is the 'no paper down the loo bin', and we were disappoinbted that this was only emptied once during our 5 night stay.

Services within the property were fine. The is efficient hot water (as long as you remember to switch it on 15 minutes before you need it) and the wifi signal was good.

Finally I must come back to the location. You are beachfront, with a boardwalk along the front. There are bars/restaurants on either side of the accommodation, and 8 within a 2 minute walk along the front, some of a very good quality (see our other reviews of Ag Gordios). There are a number of small supermarkets withing easy walk, and a host of other eateries up the main street.

The apartment was well priced for all that it had to offer, and the reasons we felt we couldn't stretch to a 5 rating despite how much we enjoyed our stay were a combination of:
No regular poo bin emptying
Small sheets
Lack of storage for clothes
Power point in the kitchen

First floor apartment, with amazing terrace overlooking Agios gordios beach.
We visited early April,.a week before Easter There were only two Tavernas and one supermarket open when we arrived. By the time we left more were opening and locals were painting and getting ready for Easter and the coming Season.
The Ark taverna next door to the apartment is highly recommended. The Best seafood I have ever tasted. Excellent service by George and Chris.
There was only one bus daily at 7.15 am due to the time of year. So we hired a car for a day to explore.
We didn't feel we had to leave Agios gordios as we wanted a realaxing week. We had every thing we needed.
The apartment was very clean and nicely furnished. Stella came back to clean and change towels and sheets every couple of days.
Thank you Stella for wonderful stay.
