We visited the Aquis Agios Gordis Hotel in May 2013 for 2 weeks. The hotel is definitely not 4* as advertised by Thomsons. The location of the hotel is fabulous with wonderful views of the bay. We found all of the staff to be very helpful and friendly, especially Adriana, the Customer Liaison manager who seemed to be always there. We stayed on a half board basis and found the breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice. The evening meals although given a variety of choices, I personally thought the quality of the food not quite so good. Access to the hotel on foot from the village by the road is very difficult due various very steep inclines. We found the easiest and nicest way to the village was down the steps to the hotels beach bar (much less of an incline) and along the beach. Much easier and more pleasant. The facilities available at the hotel were very good.
We had been informed that the hotel was once a Thomson Gold Hotel. It has definitely slipped from that standard but it is still a very nice place to stay. To sum up, we had great holiday on our first visit to Corfu and we know the hotel is trying very hard to improve. We would go back again.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 2203 which gave us wonderful views overlooking the pool and sea. Try and avoid the rooms on the floor below the restaurant, we were advised by other guests they can be very noisy from early morning when the staff are preparing breakfast.

Our holiday was the first week in June. We had a superb sea view. The all-inclusive option worked well for us. The dining room staff were very friendly and efficient at all meals. I enjoyed the variety of dishes. The sunsets from the dining room or the outdoor dining area were superb.

Room Tip: It is worth paying for a sea view.

On arrival I thought the uphill distance to our bungalow 8104 was going to be a chore but after sitting on our very spacious terrace enjoying the late afternoon sun, peace and quiet plus lovely sea views, I decided we'd definitely chosen wisely! As all previous reviews state the location is stunning and as this was our first visit we did not miss the beach in front of the Tunnel Bar. The one we walked along every day when out for lunch or to go to the village is messy near the hotel with sun-beds scattered around and lots of seaweed after the winter storms. However it was good to swim in the sea after a few days once it was a lot calmer. Most of our actual sunbathing was done on the terrace before the steps down to the Tunnel Bar and beach. We preferred it there as closer to the pool bar the music is sometimes quite loud. The pool is lovely and clean and only cold at first.
We enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners and what made it so enjoyable was not so much the food but the lovely waiting staff esp.Ioanna, Svetlana, Zacheria and Tosas. They were so nice and friendly.
Along the beach we enjoyed eating at Thalassa, Alo Bar and Black Rocks. My husband enjoyed a few pints of draught Mythos every morning at the first taverna on the beach, don't know how to spell its name though!
We enjoyed our week here and would stay again if visiting Corfu.

Room Tip: The bungalows are worth the extra distance if you prefer peace and quiet!

We did this Hotel through Thomson and had used it ten years ago when it was a Thomson 'gold'. Now a 'Couples' hotel and very good. We had no option (when booking) to select any specifics such as 'Quiet room' or 'least stairs please' - that sort of thing.... Anyway, we checked in and were given a very nice room (2012); not far from the main bar and reception. Bad news though: the hallway/corridor leading into '2 Block' has no accoustic baffling and all the surfaces are hard and sound reflective - this meant the whole area leading to our room acted as a 'tuned' port. The sound levels in the room were not much lower than in the Bar area itself. OK, you expect noise in a holiday hotel and spillover of entertainment sound can only be considered normal; BUT, the piano is out of tune, not badly but just enough to make it sound like a comic music act, The Pianist did his best but only seens to play the top octave on the keys.... Sorry to go on about it but we were nearly driven crazy.
We complained and asked to change rooms, this place was fully booked at the time and the Hotel staff and Thomson Rep were very pleasant and helpfull but could do nothing except suggest we tried another night to see how thing went...
After the next dismal night we went back to Reception and said please find us another room... Behind the scenes the Hotel Guest Relations Manager had been looking at options whilst we survived that first day and second night; She came up with the perfect solution - we were given a Bungalow room well away from the main accomodation (as in 400 metres away) This was a perfect solution for us as peace and quiet are prime factors when away.
First Class treatment by first class Management. Once we spent our first night in the new room everything fell into place and we found the Staff ALL to be eager to please, very well mannered and presented. The Food was excellent for a Buffet style restaurant (there is the usual a la carte if you wish). Rooms clean and tidy, kettles in the rooms and a general feeling of welcome. location is great, 'Animation' is a bit iffy - a guy that seems unhappy there and a girl that is very keen and pro-active. The pool is good, beach is reached via a gangway of dubious quality. Beware there are a lot of steps as the Hotel is on a hillside, The remote bungalow rooms are reached by walking up and down steep inclines.
So a place for the fit and healthy who just want to chill out and enjoy time together away from the trashy 'Touristy' resorts.

Room Tip: Check the Hotel's website and beware of our own experinces! Don't book blind and then you'll love it. I can not over emphasize how good the Staff are Our own view of the food was excellent.
