“Beautiful location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2012

We had a very good holiday here (all inclusive). Although it is described as 5 Star it's in Corfu so you know it's not going to be uk 5 star standard. The best rooms or junior suites are in small blocks up a steep incline from the main building although staff will ferry bags and you! if necessary up the steep incline via a large golf buggy or be prepared for lots of walking.
We don't buy transfers we hired a car so we were able to get out and around the island. Very lucky with beautiful weather for the time of year, the beach is below the hotel accessed via steps.
The hotel was very clean, staff helpful and the food plentiful with lots of choice, salads particularly good.
We asked to move to the main building and were accommodated on our second day, rooms have a beautiful view over the bay as do the public terraces & dining room.
There are two jacuzzis on the roof top terrace where it is very relaxing to be late in the afternoon watching the sun going down over the sea.
All in all a very good relaxing holiday.

I recently came back from this hotel after a week's holiday with my Mum, we stayed during the first week of October and absolutely loved it! There were no mosquitos and no rain.
The staff are friendly, work incredibly hard, really enjoy getting to know you and it is correct that they appreciate it if you learn some of the language. It was my mum's birthday so I rang the hotel ahead of our visit to see if they could arrange something special for us - there was a freshly baked cake, a bottle of champagne with two flutes and fresh fruit in the room on arrival - fabulous!
The food was good, I enjoyed the themed nights in particular as there was more authentic dishes on offer during those nights. This seemed to be only my personal preference though as most of the other guests enjoyed eating pizza and chips most nights!
Paradise does come at a cost though - wasps are in abundance at this time of year and were very annoying (through no fault of the hotel) so make sure you bring plenty of repellent.
The hotel itself was clean and the staff were always on hand and willing to help with anything. Despite some of the other reviews on here, this is not a swingers hotel, the majority of guests were of the older generation and couples but that didn't bother me and my mother.
The steps to the beach were no problem at all.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 5308 A1 and it was fabulous with an amazing seaview.

Our stay at the adult only Aquis Agios Gordios Beach Hotel in Agios Gordios, Corfu tel +30 26611 80000 was from 14th to 21st October 2012 and after booking we realised that this time of the year you should expect some rain. When we arrived on the Sunday it was raining and this followed by thunder storms that evening but the rest of the week really improved.
Hotel:
We upgraded and stayed in a very nice modern bungalow room 8xxx with a main large living room, separate bedroom, bathroom and shower, two TVs with DVD players and two aircon units. UK TV channel restricted to BBC World. Tea and Coffee replenished each day. Free Wifi internet available all over the hotel including your room. We were really pleased with the bungalow BUT its up a very steep hill and not an easy climb each day! If upgrading and have difficulty climbing then make sure the hotel is aware and ask for a lower bungalow. Staff are all very helpful.

The rest of the hotel is built on the side of a cliff face, you enter at reception on the 5th floor and the lift takes you down to 1st floor which is a level above the swimming pool. There is then a long walk down to the beach and bar.

Food:
The restaurant had themed evenings with a good wide range of food to cater for most tastes and we enjoyed every meal. Times 7-10am, 12:30-14:30 and 18:30-21:00. Most drinks are all inclusive up to 23:00 and certainly enough to keep you happy.

Entertainment:
Singers, Greek dancers, pop quiz, bingo/film night etc etc. During the day there is a gym, tennis court, table tennis, pool etc

We took the bus from village (10min walk) to Corfu 2.20 euros each way and about 40min trip to bus depot.

Weather:
We had 2 days rain and 5 days of sun approx 27c (feels like 30c). Another couple we spoke to had 4days rain and 3 days sun so you should consider you could get rain this late in the season but as we end out holiday the next week is forecast as all sun.

Other:
Would be worth packing some Mosquito repellant. Beach towels are provided by hotel but 10euro deposit. There is a hotel gift shop that sells UK papers, sun cream, water, gifts etc. Hotel shuts the end of October (most other hotels on the island are already shut). Car hire ftom hotel end of Oct 2012 was €30 per day. Coach tour of island €35 per adult. Coach trip to Corfu town for evening €15 per adult.

Overall rating 4.5 stars out of 5. Would come again if a little earlier in the season.

I would recommend the hotel. Although not in my opinion a 5 star hotel it is still very good value. We stayed as a a couple a bungalow which was not far from the Hotel in 6202. The food was plentiful and good the drinks were fine. The one big drawback for me was that the beds were very hard. The staff were very friendly and very helpful with the odd exception of Mr grumpy in the lobby bar. I had a problem with noisy people above me at 4am in the morning so I did complain to a very helpful person in reception who said that instead of dealing with it myself I should have contacted reception who would have sorted it out. Beautiful views and lovely beach. Cannot fault it
Would go again.

Room Tip: if you go for a bungalow get anything in the 6000s - not so far to walk

Well where do I start? Just got back from a weeks holiday at this hotel and I have to say Anyone who moans about this hotel is frankly mad! The rooms are great, overlooking to sea with amazing views. The staff are first class, they work so hard and are very friendly. The beach is lovely and sea very warm and yes there are quite a few steps to the beach from the hotel but the hotel is built into a cliff so what do u expect. I would say this hotel is for the more 'mature' person, everyone is very friendly though. The food is great with a good variety, whoever thinks the drinks are watered down must be drinking in another hotel because there were certainly not watered down. If I have one negative thing it's that the pool is not heated and its very cold but other than that I can't fault this hotel or the resort or the staff. We was put in a 'bungalow' room away from the main hotel which I didn't like, I asked to be moved and was advised they didn't have anything until the next day which I was happy with, we was moved the next day without any hassle and totally happy with the service we got. There are plenty of sun beds both on the beach and by the pool even though the hotel was full. Entertainment for fine and something every night. If your thinking 'should I book this hotel' then YES do it, u won't regret it, it's a lovely place for a peaceful relaxing holiday and only 25min transfer time from airport. Don't listen to the negative reviews some people just like to have a Moan!! Happy holidays.

dont normally go to large hotels, but we went with another couple for a last holiday of the year.AS allways you must go fully inc, ortherwise you will spend a fortune!as with any hotel in the EU,the spread of food was VERY GOOD indeed, the staff were all great, rooms good.lf you dont want to be stuck in a small resort you can hire a car at good prices, but beware some of the villages have the narrowest roads you ever seen going through them and often find a bus or coach comming towards you!can get quite hairy!the roads up north are far wider and prettier.having said that we loved it and saw many places that not many tourists ever see.(you would be wise to get a damage waver out, about 10 euro as so easy to catch a rock or something)lf you have a mobility prob you will find it hard to get around to the pool and beach,as prob anywhere in Corfu. As the deal is set to a price l found it very good value. But if you had to pay for meals as of when l dread to think what it would cost!As l can understand room prices high and low season, but a breakfast low season 6 euro ,high 16 and main meals low 16 high 31.50.What is that about?l suppose all hotels do it,do they, thats why you must go fully inc wherever .l thank you.ps the quietest aircon ever, very impressed.pps if you have prob walking a trecking pole would be handy.

Room Tip: rooms near/ above the kitchen will hear extractor fans

The Agios Gordios Beach Hotel in Corfu offers a wonderful setting for a perfectly relaxing holiday ! Sit at the roof top terrace bar , sipping a few cocktails and watch those beautiful sunsets ! This was our first experience at AI and we weren't disappointed - food was superb, ample selection, well presented, and we enjoyed the theme evenings. Staff were really welcoming and friendly, and made us feel part of 'the family' - well done and thank you to all the hard working gals and guys !
Best thing about this hotel is its location - right by the beach ( albeit there are many steps ! ) listen to the lapping waves - relax and even enjoy a massage provided by the young Taiwan girl - wonderful ! Plenty of sunbeds on this hotel's private beach, and a good beach bar with a perfect view out to sea. This adults only hotel has alot to offer - our room was in the main building offering a magnifent view, was newly furbished, towels and bedlinen changed frequently and serviced daily. Nightly entertainment or just visit one of the other bars in the hotel if you preferred.
Quite a few bars/restaurants along the beach and up the main village street although we didn't eat out as the food was so good in the hotel.
Caught the local bus ( very cheap) for a trip into Corfu town - really pleasant ride with plenty to see, and certainly worth a visit to meander amongst the narrow cobbled streets of the old town.
Although this is not a place for the less mobile as there are many steps about the hotel, there is no need to stray very far - a perfect retreat for a totally relaxing holiday - we had a thoroughly enjoyable time and enjoyed the quietness of the adults only especially whilst on the beach - highly recommended and good value for money. Thank you to all at Agios Gordios !!

Room Tip: A room in the main building provided a magnificent view and was near to all the amenities - dining r...
